You can run a scheduled devotional radio program on YouTube using an encoder, a verified channel enabled for live streaming, and audio and other content you have permission to broadcast. Build the program as a sequence of timed blocks, state the schedule’s time zone, and plan for stream handoffs and monitoring. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, but that does not establish a guaranteed uninterrupted 24/7 single-event stream.
What you need before you begin
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has live streaming enabled, and has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- An encoder workflow. YouTube supports encoder-based streams, which are useful when you are bringing in external audio or video hardware. Dedicated hardware is optional; choose software or hardware based on your inputs, production complexity, reliability needs, cost, and ability to monitor and recover the stream.
- Audio and any visuals you have the right to use on YouTube. Devotional or religious subject matter does not by itself make a recording free to rebroadcast.
- A written program schedule, a clearly stated time zone, and an operating plan for monitoring and transitions between broadcasts.
YouTube explains encoder setup in its encoder instructions and discusses stream monitoring and production in its live-streaming tips.

Connect the encoder
Open the event’s encoder or streaming settings in YouTube Studio. Copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key as a secret: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event. Do not publish it in the schedule or share it in public messages.
-
Preview, check, and go live
Start the encoder output and wait for the preview in YouTube Studio. Check that the expected audio and any accompanying visuals are present, then start the live event. YouTube advises creators to continuously monitor stream quality; keep Studio and the encoder status visible during the broadcast.

Build a schedule listeners can follow
Organize the broadcast as named blocks—for example, a morning bhajan program, a discourse, and an evening devotional music program—rather than an unexplained continuous feed. Publish the schedule where listeners will see it, and name the time zone in full. For an audience in India, use Indian Standard Time (IST); for a global audience, make the conversion clear rather than assuming every listener is local.

A schedule is a programming plan, not proof that one YouTube event will remain live indefinitely. Decide who is responsible for each transition, what happens if an encoder or connection fails, and how listeners will be informed if the planned program changes. Recheck YouTube Studio’s current controls and rules before launching a long-running schedule.

Can one YouTube stream run continuously for 24/7?
YouTube’s encoder instructions state that “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That archive statement does not establish that streams of 12 hours or longer cannot run, nor does it confirm a maximum duration or guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 continuity for one event. Plan operationally for handoffs, equipment and network monitoring, and schedule continuity, and verify the current YouTube behavior in Studio before relying on a single event for an around-the-clock service. See the encoder instructions and live-streaming tips.
Clear music and content rights before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to hold the rights needed for live content, including music licensing rights. The permissions you need depend on the composition, the specific recording, contributors, and territories where the stream is available. Obtain and document permission for every relevant element before scheduling the broadcast.

YouTube says third-party matches can interrupt a live stream. Even licensed content may be interrupted if the channel has not been allowlisted by the rights holder through Content ID. Confirm the rights holder’s requirements and allowlisting status where applicable; do not assume that permission alone prevents automated interruptions. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and its guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Quick Recap
Common problems and what to check
- Studio does not show the stream preview: Check that live streaming is enabled, the encoder is sending output, and the stream URL and key were copied into the correct encoder fields. Allow for first-time activation, which can take up to 24 hours.
- The preview appears, but the event has not started: Confirm that you started the live event in YouTube Studio after checking the preview. Starting encoder output and starting the YouTube event are separate actions in the setup flow.
- The stream is interrupted or the audio disappears: Check encoder and network status, then inspect YouTube Studio’s stream indicators. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance recommends continuous monitoring; have an assigned operator and a recovery or handoff plan.
- Music triggers a copyright interruption: Review the rights for the exact recording and composition, and confirm whether the rights holder requires Content ID allowlisting. Licensed music can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted.
- Listeners miss a program block: Check the published schedule’s time zone and compare the actual transition with the plan. Update the schedule when hours change instead of leaving stale times in place.
