Can you play GTA 5 in a browser from your PC?
Yes, using a browser-oriented project such as Moonlight-Web, which describes a browser interface and WebRTC streaming. It is not an official Moonlight product. Official Moonlight says its GameStream protocol requires raw TCP and UDP sockets that browsers do not provide, so it does not offer a pure web client; its FAQ also notes limitations for browser clients compared with native apps: Moonlight FAQ and project site.

For the host side, Sunshine runs on your gaming PC and can serve games or apps to compatible Moonlight clients. The typical documented Sunshine/Moonlight workflow uses a native client, not the Sunshine configuration page as a remote game-streaming page. Sunshine can launch apps added manually, but that general capability is not proof that GTA 5 works with Moonlight-Web on every launcher, operating system, or browser.

If using a browser is essential, investigate Moonlight-Web’s current setup and access requirements before configuring your PC. If it is not essential, the Sunshine plus native Moonlight path follows the established setup guide more directly.

Set up Sunshine and test on your home network
- Check the host PC. GTA 5 must already be playable on the PC, which must remain powered on and available to render the game while you stream. This is a practical requirement of streaming from your own PC, not a GTA 5 performance benchmark.
- Install Sunshine on the gaming PC. Follow the official Sunshine documentation for your operating system. Sunshine provides a browser-based configuration interface; that interface is for setting up the host, not for viewing the game stream.
- Configure and pair locally. Open Sunshine’s local configuration UI, set credentials, and pair the receiving device while both devices are on the same home network. The Moonlight Setup Guide recommends testing at home before trying internet streaming.
- Launch the game or add it in Sunshine. If the desired game or launcher is not listed, Moonlight’s guide explains that games and apps can be added manually. Add the appropriate executable or launcher for your installation. This is a general feature, not a GTA 5-specific compatibility guarantee.
- Check the stream before going remote. Test picture quality, input response, and controls locally. Resolve any launch or control problems on the home network first; remote access adds another source of possible failure.
Try browser access and remote play carefully
Use Moonlight-Web for the browser client
Follow the Moonlight-Web project’s current instructions for connecting a browser to the host. The project describes browser-to-PC streaming over WebRTC and advertises gamepad input. Those descriptions are not a guarantee of GTA 5 compatibility or of identical behavior across browsers, operating systems, and controllers.
Check remote-network conditions
Moonlight’s Setup Guide gives 5 Mbps or higher upload speed as guidance for streaming outside the home. That is a baseline from the guide, not a promise of smooth play or a complete recommendation for every resolution and frame rate. Moonlight-Web’s project page flags disabled UPnP, CGNAT or double NAT, and port conflicts as possible obstacles to remote access.

Do not expose Sunshine’s host configuration interface publicly. Keep its credentials private and use the access controls and network setup described by the selected project. If a local stream works but a remote connection does not, check the project’s remote-access requirements and your network configuration before changing host settings.
Controls and browser limitations
Moonlight-Web advertises gamepad input, but the documentation cited here does not establish a controller compatibility matrix or guarantee that a particular browser and controller combination will work. Test your intended controls before relying on them. Browser streaming can differ from a native Moonlight app in input and latency features, so do not assume console-like response. A controller is optional; no particular model is verified here.
