You can stream console gameplay on TikTok LIVE using a computer, streaming software, and a compatible capture card. TikTok’s documented browser-based options are LIVE Studio for Windows and OBS Studio for Linux, macOS, or Windows; the computer takes the console’s video and audio through the capture card and sends the stream to TikTok. Check that your account has access to LIVE and computer-based streaming controls before buying equipment, because availability can vary.
What you need to stream a console on TikTok
- A TikTok account eligible to start LIVE, with computer-based LIVE controls available.
- A computer running TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS Studio.
- A capture card compatible with your console, computer, and intended video mode.
- A plan for getting game audio and, if wanted, microphone audio into the streaming software.
The documented route is computer-based: TikTok’s browser LIVE instructions identify LIVE Studio and OBS Studio, while OBS supports capture cards as video-capture sources. The reviewed documentation does not establish a direct, console-native TikTok broadcast path. TikTok’s browser instructions are localized, and access to the same controls is not confirmed for every account or region.

Check TikTok LIVE eligibility and access
TikTok Support says creators must be at least 18 and generally need 1,000 followers to go LIVE; the follower threshold may vary by region. TikTok also states, “Only creators who meet the eligibility requirements can go LIVE on TikTok.” Check the LIVE options available on your account, including whether computer/browser streaming is offered, before purchasing a capture card or planning a stream. The support page does not show a publication date.

| Option | Operating systems identified by TikTok | Capture-card evidence in the reviewed documentation | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok LIVE Studio | Windows | Not independently established here | Whether LIVE Studio and computer-based LIVE controls are available to your account, and whether the current setup flow accepts your intended sources. |
| OBS Studio | Linux, macOS, and Windows | OBS documents capture cards as video-capture devices. | Device and driver support, supported resolution and frame rate, and audio routing. |
Both options remain subject to TikTok LIVE eligibility and account access. TikTok’s browser help does not establish one universal stream-key procedure or confirm that every account sees the same setup screens.
Connect the console through a capture card in OBS
- Connect the console’s video output to the capture card. Follow the card maker’s instructions for the console and computer; the reviewed documentation does not provide console-specific HDMI directions.
- Connect the capture card to the computer. Confirm that the card is supported by the computer’s operating system and streaming software.
- Add the card in OBS. Add a video capture source and select the capture device. OBS describes this source type as suitable for webcams and capture cards.
- Choose a supported video mode. Set resolution and frame rate to a mode supported by the capture device. On Windows, OBS says the device driver must support DirectShow output.
- Set up audio. In the capture-device settings, check the audio output mode and whether to link a custom audio device. Decide how the game sound and any microphone will enter the stream, then check that the selected devices and levels are correct.
A USB HDMI capture card is the relevant hardware category for this workflow, not a guarantee of compatibility. Check the specific card’s console-output support, computer and driver compatibility, target resolution and frame rate, and audio options before choosing one. A microphone, webcam, splitter, or special cable is not established as a universal requirement.

Start the computer-based TikTok LIVE
Once the source is configured, use TikTok’s current browser LIVE flow with the eligible account and the software option available to you: LIVE Studio on Windows or OBS Studio on Linux, macOS, or Windows. Follow the controls shown in your account. Since TikTok’s reviewed help does not document a complete current stream-key procedure or guarantee access to the same controls for every creator, do not assume a particular key, menu, or screen will be available.

Check the stream before going live
- Confirm the capture card appears as a source and the console image is visible.
- Confirm the selected resolution and frame rate are supported by the capture device.
- Check that game audio is present and at a usable level.
- If using a microphone, confirm the intended device is selected and its audio is reaching the stream.
- Verify that TikTok’s LIVE controls are available in the account and that the software is configured for the current flow.
These checks follow from the device and configuration controls OBS documents; they are setup guidance, not a claim that a particular hardware combination has been tested.
