Check that you have rights to every episode and any music, clips, or guest material before rebroadcasting. YouTube distinguishes the incoming OBS feed from the public Go Live action in some scheduled setups, so verify the preview and live status in Live Control Room.
Before you set up the stream
Check the archive and permissions
Choose the episodes you intend to play and review the complete recordings, including music, inserted clips, and guest contributions. Confirm that your channel has permission to rebroadcast each element. The fact that a podcast episode is already published does not by itself establish permission for a new YouTube Live broadcast.

Decide the format and audience access
Choose whether the broadcast should be public, unlisted, or private. Public is intended for broad discovery, unlisted access is by link, and private is restricted. Decide whether viewers should be able to pause or rewind with DVR, and whether immediate interaction is more important than reducing buffering risk.
Create or schedule the YouTube Live broadcast

In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.

For an immediate broadcast, create a stream in the Stream tab. To prepare ahead, use Manage to schedule it. Scheduling gives you time to promote the event and lets viewers set reminders.

Enter an accurate title and description, choose the category, add a thumbnail, and set the intended privacy. Make clear that the live broadcast is an archive or playlist if that is relevant to viewers.

Choose the latency option and DVR behavior in the Live Control Room. Lower latency can make interaction more immediate, but YouTube warns that it may increase buffering. Enable DVR if viewers should be able to pause and rewind during the broadcast.

Copy the stream server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.

Connect OBS and play the archive

Open OBS and select its YouTube service or integration in the streaming settings, if available. If using a custom connection, paste the YouTube server URL into OBS’s server field and the YouTube stream key into its stream-key field. Exact OBS labels can vary by version.

Set up your archive playback in OBS using the episode files or a playlist source that fits your workflow. Check that the intended video and audio are present in the OBS preview before sending the feed. The correct output resolution and bitrate depend on the source files, computer, and upload connection; the archive and network details are not specified here, so there is no single reliable setting to prescribe.

Start streaming in OBS. Watch YouTube’s Live Control Room for the incoming preview and any stream health notices.

For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview and select Go Live in Live Control Room unless auto-start is enabled. Sending video from OBS does not always make a scheduled broadcast publicly live on its own.

When finished, stop sending from OBS and end the broadcast in Studio if needed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and appear in the Studio Live tab. If you need a replay, plan a broadcast under that threshold rather than relying on automatic archiving for a longer stream.
If the stream key is exposed
Reset the key in Live Control Room, then replace the old key in OBS before sending the next feed. YouTube says only channel owners or managers can reset a stream key. Treat the replacement as a credential, not as a shareable setup detail.
