To stream a prerecorded video as a YouTube Live broadcast over JioFiber, play the video through an encoder, then send that encoder’s output to a YouTube stream using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. JioFiber supplies the internet connection; it does not play the video or configure the YouTube broadcast. Test your actual upload capacity before going live, since advertised plan speeds do not guarantee the sustained upload speed available at home.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no livestream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so check eligibility well before the event.
- A computer or other setup running an encoder that can play a local prerecorded video as its source. The exact controls for selecting a video vary by encoder.
- A reliable JioFiber connection with enough sustained upload capacity for the selected stream bitrate, plus bandwidth for other devices sharing the connection.
- The right to use the video, music, images and other material in the broadcast. A prerecorded video is still subject to YouTube’s copyright and platform rules; using an encoder does not grant permission to rebroadcast someone else’s content.
How to send a prerecorded video to YouTube Live
1. Confirm livestream access
Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live to check access to the Live Control Room. YouTube requires channel verification and no livestream restriction within the previous 90 days. If this is the channel’s first livestream activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.

2. Create or schedule the stream
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create an encoder stream or schedule one for later. Set the title, privacy and other event details. Scheduling can give viewers time to find the event before you start sending the feed.

3. Put the video into an encoder
Choose an encoder that can play your prerecorded file as its media source. In the encoder’s streaming output settings, enter the server URL and stream key shown for the YouTube stream you created. Labels and file-selection steps differ between encoders, so follow the instructions for your specific software rather than assuming every interface uses the same menu names.

Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Keep it private and reset it in Live Control Room if it is exposed.
4. Match the encoder settings to your upload connection
For H.264, YouTube’s current encoder recommendations include 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 frames per second and 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 frames per second. YouTube also recommends a 2-second keyframe interval, constant bitrate (CBR), and RTMPS where supported. These are encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular JioFiber connection can sustain the selected bitrate.

Use the resolution and frame rate your audience needs, then choose a bitrate your connection can sustain. If upload capacity is insufficient, lower the resolution, frame rate or bitrate rather than sending a bitrate that repeatedly exceeds the available upstream bandwidth.

Check upload speed, not only download speed. YouTube recommends allowing 20% upload headroom above the stream bitrate, and notes that other people or devices sharing the network reduce the bandwidth available to your stream. Test with the encoder running, including representative movement and audio, and account for household use during the event.

Jio advertises symmetrical upload and download speeds on its JioFiber pages, and its plan comparison gives examples of 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 150 Mbps symmetrical plans. These are advertised plan examples, not measurements of your home connection. Confirm your current local plan and run a test at the location and time you expect to stream. A higher advertised tier is not automatically necessary if your measured upstream connection is stable and comfortably exceeds the stream bitrate plus headroom.
6. Preview before going live
Start the encoder early enough for YouTube to receive the feed. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, then check that video, audio and stream health look right. When you are ready for viewers, select Go Live in Live Control Room and monitor stream health as the broadcast continues.

7. End and verify the broadcast
End the broadcast through YouTube and stop the encoder. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; check the resulting replay in YouTube Studio rather than assuming the archive is ready or correct without verification.

- Reduce competing traffic: Pause large uploads or downloads and, where practical, limit other household traffic while live. A speed test from an idle network may overstate the bandwidth available during a busy broadcast.
- Prefer a stable local connection: Where your equipment supports it, connecting the computer to the router with Ethernet can avoid some wireless variability on the home network. It cannot increase the ISP upload capacity or fix an upstream service problem.
- Do not rely on the plan label: Advertised symmetrical speeds describe the plan, not a measured result at your encoder. Base bitrate decisions on a realistic upload test and the stream-health feedback in YouTube.
- Allow setup time: First-time livestream activation may take up to 24 hours, and the encoder preview should be checked before the scheduled start.
Troubleshooting common problems
