You can loop a Malayalam playlist on YouTube Live with OBS: create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, add your audio or video files to an OBS scene, enable looping, and send the scene using your YouTube stream key. Before broadcasting, confirm that you have rights for the live use—and for the replay if you keep one—of every recording and composition in the playlist.
Before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified, eligible for livestreaming, and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says livestreamers must be at least 16: YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
- A computer with OBS installed and your Malayalam playlist stored locally. For a playlist made of multiple files, install VLC as well.
- Permission to livestream each track and, if you plan to leave the broadcast replay available, permission for that archived use too.
Clear the music rights first
Being able to play a song on YouTube, finding it labelled “free,” or buying a copy does not by itself grant permission to use it in a livestream. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Check the licence for the particular composition and recording, the territories it covers, live transmission, and any replay.

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If you have a third-party licence, YouTube advises asking the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; an otherwise licensed stream may still be interrupted if it is not allowlisted. Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live and choose the encoder streaming setup. Set the stream title, description, audience details, and privacy in Live Control Room.
- Copy the stream key shown in Live Control Room and enter it in OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: it identifies where the encoder sends the feed and allows YouTube to accept it. Do not share it or show it in a screen recording. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain the Live Control Room workflow.
- Keep the stream private or unlisted while you prepare and check the preview. Switch to public only when the video and audio are right.
Build a looping scene in OBS
For one long audio or video file
- Create a scene in OBS and add a visual, such as a still image, using an image source. A live audio stream still needs an appropriate visual scene.
- Select Sources → + → Media Source, name the source, and browse to your local file. OBS Media Source supports audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. If the file is video, its picture will repeat too; if it is audio-only, the scene visual remains on screen.
For multiple tracks
- Install VLC if it is not already on the computer; OBS’s VLC Video source requires it.
- In the scene, select Sources → + → VLC Video and add the local files to its playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist. The source also supports shuffle if you want track order randomized.
OBS documents the Media Source and VLC Video options in its media sources guide. Its listed controls do not establish that either method creates a seamless crossfade, so do not assume one between tracks.
Check audio and start the broadcast
- Start playback in OBS and watch the audio meters. Confirm the intended source is active and that the selected audio device is correct; listen for silence, clipping, or unwanted desktop sounds.
- With the stream still private or unlisted, start streaming from OBS and check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the image is visible and the playlist audio is audible before making the broadcast public.
- When the preview is correct, set the intended privacy and go live. Keep OBS and the computer running for the duration of this do-it-yourself stream.

Troubleshoot common problems
