Create the event in YouTube Studio, copy its RTMPS URL and private stream key, run FFmpeg in real time with file looping enabled, then check the Live Control Room preview before starting the event. The command below is an adaptable example, not a tested configuration for every file or server.
Before you start
- A Linux server with FFmpeg installed and enough sustained upload capacity for the chosen output bitrate.
- A video and audio file you have the right to broadcast. Play it through once and check its sound level, opening and ending, and the transition from the end back to the beginning.
- Access to YouTube Studio and Live Control Room for the channel that will host the event.
Use ffprobe, if available, to inspect the file’s streams, resolution, frame rate, and audio format before choosing output settings. There is no special pranayama-specific profile in YouTube’s encoder guidance. Select landscape or another format deliberately for the viewing context. FFmpeg repeats the file; it does not make the join seamless, so edit the source if the loop point needs a smoother transition.

Create a YouTube Live event and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live. Create a scheduled event if viewers should see it in advance or set a reminder, or create a stream when you are ready. Choose Public, Private, or Unlisted visibility deliberately; available defaults can depend on the user’s age. See YouTube’s stream management guidance.
- In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key for the event. These are account- and event-specific encoder values. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it in scripts, screenshots, or support messages. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room.
- For encrypted transport, click the lock icon in the Stream URL field and use the RTMPS URL YouTube provides. RTMPS is RTMP over TLS/SSL; use the current URL shown in your account rather than guessing a server address. YouTube recommends RTMPS in its encoder settings guidance and explains it in its RTMPS documentation.
Choose output settings that fit the source and connection
YouTube’s current encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate encoding; up to 60 fps; and a recommended keyframe frequency of two seconds, not exceeding four seconds. For H.264, its recommended bitrate is 6 Mbps for 720p30 and 10 Mbps for 1080p30. These are recommendations, not guarantees of a stable broadcast: choose a rate the server’s sustained upload can carry and test it beforehand. Check YouTube’s current settings table for other output combinations.

The example below encodes at 6,000 kbps and assumes 30 fps, making a 60-frame GOP approximately two seconds. That bitrate is YouTube’s H.264 recommendation for 720p30; the command does not resize the source to 720p, so inspect the input and adjust the output to match your intended resolution and frame rate. If you output 1080p30 H.264, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps instead. Leave capacity beyond the video bitrate for audio and protocol overhead, and do not select a rate the server cannot sustain.

Loop the file with FFmpeg
For a common MP4 with one video and one audio stream, adapt this template. Replace the filename and the RTMPS URL with the values from Live Control Room. Keep the stream key private; do not commit the real destination to a public script or repository.

-f flv 'rtmps://<current-server-url>/<stream-key>'-rereads the file at its natural rate, rather than sending it as fast as the server can process it.-stream_loop -1requests indefinite input looping. It belongs before the corresponding-i, because it changes how that input is read.libx264, AAC, and FLV output provide a common H.264/AAC RTMP-style encoder setup. Confirm that your FFmpeg build includes the selected encoder and supports the options you use.-g 60 -keyint_min 60sets a 60-frame GOP in this example. At 30 fps that is two seconds; if your actual output frame rate differs, change the GOP settings to keep the interval near two seconds and within YouTube’s four-second maximum.- The sample does not include a scale or frame-rate filter. It is not a universal command for files with different dimensions, frame rates, audio layouts, or codecs. Inspect the input and make an intentional output choice.
The command is illustrative: no media file, FFmpeg installation, server, or network has been tested with it. Confirm loop support on the installed build with ffmpeg -h full, and check encoder availability and input details locally. YouTube’s documented recommendations are the reference for supported codecs, bitrate, and keyframe interval; the sample values are not a promise that an unknown server or file will work unchanged.

Optional: attempt recovery after a temporary network failure
FFmpeg documents a FIFO muxer configuration that can attempt RTMP recovery after a temporary network failure. Its example uses -f fifo -fifo_format flv, recovery enabled, and a one-second recovery wait. This adds operational complexity and does not guarantee uninterrupted playback or recovery from every failure. Check ffmpeg -h muxer=fifo on the installed build and test the configuration in the actual hosting environment before relying on it. See the FFmpeg FIFO muxer documentation.

Test the feed, then start the scheduled event
- Run a Private or Unlisted test stream first. Use audio and video motion similar to the lesson you intend to broadcast.
- Check that the feed appears in the Live Control Room preview and that stream health is acceptable. If practical, open the player on another device to check both picture and audio.
- For a scheduled event, start FFmpeg and wait for the preview before clicking Go live in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. Its streaming tips cover setup and monitoring.
- When finished, end the stream in YouTube and stop the encoder as directed by the encoder workflow. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; plan longer broadcasts with that boundary in mind. See the encoder guide.
Common problems and what to check

Copyright and channel-policy checks
Only stream lesson video and audio you have rights to broadcast. A meditation or breathing exercise does not make background music, imagery, or a recording free to reuse. YouTube’s reviewed encoder guidance does not establish separate rules for pranayama content, so check applicable rights and YouTube channel policies for your material before scheduling.
