To stream recorded exam-prep lectures repeatedly on YouTube Live, use a playback setup or encoder that can loop your playlist, then connect it to a broadcast managed in YouTube Studio. The encoder sends the video and audio; Studio handles scheduling, preview, and the live broadcast. YouTube’s encoder guide does not document a universal playlist-loop control, so verify looping in the playback or encoder setup you choose.
Before you prepare the broadcast
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube’s current requirements say a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so confirm access in YouTube Studio before announcing a start time. These are YouTube-wide rules, not India-specific requirements. Choose the audience and privacy setting
Decide whether the broadcast should be public, unlisted, or private, and check the actual setting on the scheduled stream rather than relying on a default. YouTube notes that defaults differ for creators aged 13–17 and those 18 or older. For a public study stream, confirm that the scheduled broadcast is public before sharing its link.

Educational purpose alone does not establish permission to rebroadcast a lecture. Check rights for the recording and everything included in it, such as slides, music, video clips, and third-party exam-prep materials. YouTube Help says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can replace the stream with a placeholder and warning; continued use can interrupt or terminate it, and a copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a live stream. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.
If a rights holder has licensed material for your broadcast, ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube says a license by itself may not prevent an interruption when the channel is not allowlisted. Content ID claims on an archived live stream are applied after the stream ends if you choose to archive it.
Plan around stream limits and archives
YouTube’s current getting-started guidance states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key. Recheck the help page if you are planning several simultaneous feeds. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; its cited guidance does not establish that a longer stream will be saved as one complete video. If the replay matters, plan archive handling separately rather than assuming a long continuous broadcast will produce one complete VOD. Choose a playback and encoder setup
The playlist must repeat on the playback side; YouTube Studio does not supply a universal loop switch in its encoder instructions. Before going live, confirm that your chosen setup plays each lecture in the intended order and starts the list again at the end. This is an operational step that depends on the specific playback or encoder software: the YouTube guide explains how to connect an encoder, not how to configure a particular app’s playlist controls.
Software encoder on a computer
A software encoder is suitable if you already have a computer that can play the media and run the encoder. YouTube identifies computer software as an encoder option. Check that your playback arrangement can repeat the playlist, then check the encoder preview and stream state during the broadcast. The cited setup guidance does not specify a minimum processor, memory, graphics card, storage capacity, India-specific bandwidth threshold, or recommended OBS configuration, so choose based on the software you actually use rather than relying on an unsupported specification.

Standalone hardware encoder
YouTube also supports standalone hardware encoders. This is an option if you prefer dedicated equipment, but the available guidance does not identify a particular model or establish that one is necessary for prerecorded lectures. Confirm that the hardware and its playback source support the repeat behavior your playlist needs.
Compare the practical trade-offs
- Existing equipment: use what you can operate reliably; a computer is relevant for a software encoder, while a standalone encoder is a separate hardware path.
- Repeat behavior: verify the playlist order and loop in the selected playback setup before the broadcast.
- Monitoring: ensure you can inspect YouTube’s preview and stream status while the encoder sends data.
- Interruptions: consider how you will respond if power, connectivity, or the encoder stops; YouTube’s example of a persistent 24/7 feed is not a guarantee that a local computer or connection will run without interruption.
Set up and start the YouTube Live broadcast
- Prepare and verify the playlist. Put the lectures in the desired order and confirm in your chosen playback setup that the final item leads back to the first. Check that you have permission for all content before scheduling.
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create > Go Live to create a stream. To arrange a later broadcast, use Manage > Schedule stream. Scheduling creates a watch page viewers can share and lets them set reminders. The current labels and flow are described in YouTube Help’s encoder setup guide.
- Set broadcast details. Choose the privacy setting and review the audience and other details shown for that broadcast. Do not assume the default privacy setting is right for a public study session.
- Connect the encoder. If the encoder has an integrated YouTube connection, select YouTube there. Otherwise, copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key into the encoder’s corresponding fields. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Start sending the feed and inspect the preview. Start the encoder’s output, then check that YouTube Live Control Room receives data and displays the expected lecture. Confirm the audio and video are present and that the broadcast is set to go live as intended.
- Start the broadcast when ready. In YouTube Studio, wait for the preview and select Go live when the scheduled flow requires it. Auto-start settings can affect how scheduled streams behave; OBS’s community-maintained guide notes this variation, so follow the current controls shown for your broadcast and encoder. OBS Forums: How to stream to YouTube with OBS Studio.
- Monitor and end the session deliberately. Watch the stream status and playlist progression. When finished, end the broadcast in Studio and stop the encoder as appropriate for your setup. For a stream under 12 hours, YouTube says it will be automatically archived; do not assume the same one-video archive outcome for a longer session.
Using a recurring series or multiple feeds
For a recurring series, Google’s YouTube Live Streaming API documentation says a channel can reuse one stream resource for multiple scheduled broadcasts. Separate stream resources can make sense when concurrent recurring shows need different encoder settings. This is an API design option, not a requirement for ordinary Studio use. Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel, check for restrictions in the previous 90 days, confirm the operator meets YouTube’s minimum age, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- The feed reaches YouTube but lectures do not repeat: the loop behavior belongs to the selected playback or encoder setup. Recheck its playlist order and repeat control; YouTube’s encoder guide does not specify a universal loop option.
- The preview does not appear: confirm that the encoder is sending data, that the correct server URL and stream key are entered, and that the selected broadcast is the one receiving the feed. Keep the key private while checking it.
- The stream shows a copyright warning or placeholder: stop and investigate the matched material. Confirm rights for the lecture and embedded elements; if licensed content is involved, ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting.
- The scheduled broadcast does not start when expected: inspect the scheduled broadcast’s current auto-start and go-live controls. Wait for the preview and use the displayed Studio action if a manual start is required.
- A long broadcast is missing a complete replay: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed single archive for longer streams. Check the archive and plan a shorter broadcast or separate recording workflow if one complete replay is essential.
- You cannot add another concurrent feed: check the current YouTube limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key before creating more streams.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded YouTube Live playlist that should keep running without a computer left on at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
