You can use Backblaze B2 to store your video library, but B2 does not itself broadcast a continuous live stream to YouTube. To run the channel without a PC at home, pair B2 with an always-on cloud encoder or streaming service that retrieves your videos and sends a live feed to YouTube. The important first check is whether the service you choose can actually read your B2 files: a direct B2 integration has not been verified for the services discussed here.
How the no-PC setup works
Think of the system as three separate parts: B2 stores the source videos, an always-on service or remote server plays and encodes them, and YouTube receives the live feed. YouTube needs an encoder or equivalent streaming service plus an ingest URL and stream key; object storage alone does not provide that function.

- Store the source videos in B2. B2 offers S3-compatible and Native APIs. Use the S3-compatible API when broad compatibility with other software is useful; choose the Native API when a B2-specific feature calls for it.
- Choose the always-on playback and encoding layer. A managed cloud service generally means less server administration. Remote compute gives you more control, but you must operate the server and plan for restarts, reconnects, and monitoring.
- Connect the source to the encoder. Confirm whether the service can read from B2 directly, needs a publicly accessible file URL, or requires an intermediate copy. Do not assume that a service can use B2 just because it supports cloud streaming.
- Send the encoded feed to YouTube. Configure the service with the YouTube ingest details and stream key, then start the broadcast and monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicators.
This is an architecture, not a tested turnkey B2 configuration: no working B2-to-hosted-service setup has been verified here. Before paying or moving a large library, confirm supported input methods, file formats, B2 interoperability, reconnection behavior, geographic availability, stream-key handling, and total cost with the provider.

Upload the media library
Create a B2 bucket and upload the recordings you plan to loop. Keep an inventory of filenames, durations, audio tracks, and intended order; the playback service needs to know which files to play and how to form a playlist or loop.

Use a restricted application key
Backblaze recommends a scoped application key for production use and documents bucket-specific and access-type restrictions. Give the playback service only the access it needs to retrieve the relevant objects. Do not put a master account key in a script, log, public configuration, or a service field unless the provider explicitly requires a particular credential and documents how it is protected. Revoke or replace credentials if they are exposed.
Check the retrieval path
Ask the streaming provider how it authenticates to B2 and whether it reads through the S3-compatible API, the Native API, or another supported route. If the provider cannot retrieve B2 objects, you may need to copy the files to storage it supports. That extra copy can affect storage, transfer, and setup costs.

YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as a cloud-based service for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming without a dedicated PC. That listing does not establish direct B2 compatibility. Verify the same input, storage, recovery, key-security, and cost details with any provider before relying on it.
Remote compute you administer
You can run an encoder on a remote cloud server or VPS and configure it to fetch or receive files from B2, play them continuously, and push the output to YouTube. This is the more configurable route, but it makes you responsible for server setup, credentials, process supervision, network and transfer costs, monitoring, and recovery after an encoder or server failure. The material available for this guide does not establish a specific server provider, command, or tested B2-to-YouTube configuration, so confirm the implementation details against the chosen server and encoder documentation rather than copying an unverified recipe.

Configure and verify the YouTube stream
Enable live streaming early
Google’s YouTube Help guidance says first-time live-streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours. Enable it and confirm access before scheduling a launch. YouTube Studio provides the stream URL and key for the selected workflow; treat the key as a password and enter it only into the intended encoder or service.
Match the encoder to YouTube’s settings
Use YouTube’s current encoder-settings page for the chosen ingest protocol, codec, resolution, and frame rate. Its guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe frequency, and says not to exceed 4 seconds. Bitrate recommendations vary by codec and output resolution, so select the relevant values in YouTube’s current guidance instead of applying one bitrate to every stream.
Test representative content
Before leaving the channel running, test material with the kind of movement and audio that will appear in the real playlist. Watch YouTube’s stream-health status and check that the picture, sound, and continuity are acceptable. A static image-only test may not reveal problems that appear during music, motion, or scene changes.

Plan costs for storage, delivery, and streaming
Backblaze’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, lists B2 storage starting at $6.95 per TB per month, the first 10 GB free, and egress free up to three times average monthly storage, with $0.01 per GB above that amount in the described pay-as-you-go case. It also describes unlimited free egress through certain CDN and compute partners. These terms depend on the plan, eligibility, routing, and current pricing; verify them with Backblaze before budgeting.
Your total is not just the bucket charge. Estimate the amount stored, how often and how much the encoder downloads, API transaction patterns, any intermediate copy, cloud compute or subscription charges, and any transcoding fees. A source read repeatedly by an encoder can have different delivery implications from a workflow that downloads once and keeps a local copy on remote compute.

Copyright, reused content, and monetization
Only stream material you have the rights to use. A successful continuous broadcast does not establish that a channel will be accepted for monetization or meet YouTube’s content-review requirements. Do not promise that hours watched during a 24/7 stream will make a channel eligible or guarantee revenue; eligibility and review are separate from keeping the encoder online.
Backblaze Live Read is a feature for reading portions of an object while a multipart upload is still in progress. It may support media workflows such as private previews, but it is not a broadcast feature and does not replace the encoder needed to send a stored video to YouTube.

Troubleshoot the common failure points
- The service cannot see a B2 file: Check whether it supports B2’s S3-compatible or Native API, whether the bucket/key permissions allow the required reads, and whether the provider instead requires an intermediate file copy.
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Confirm that live streaming is enabled, the encoder is using the correct current ingest details, and the stream key was copied accurately. Keep the key private; replace it if it may have been exposed.
- The stream starts but YouTube reports health problems: Check the selected protocol, codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval against YouTube’s current settings. Test with representative audio and motion and watch stream health rather than relying only on the encoder’s “live” status.
- The broadcast stops after a disconnect or restart: Determine whether the service reconnects automatically and resumes the playlist, and whether its stream configuration persists after a process or server restart. Recovery behavior varies by provider and must be confirmed rather than assumed.
- The bill is higher than expected: Review B2 storage, downloads, API activity, routing or partner eligibility, and compute or service fees. Recalculate using your actual library size and delivery pattern, then check current provider terms.
- The stream runs but monetization does not follow: Continuous operation is not a monetization approval. Check YouTube’s current channel eligibility and content policies independently.
