To loop one mantra recording in OBS, add a Media Source, select the local file, and enable Loop. For a playlist of multiple recordings, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist. OBS can repeat the media, but it cannot guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast: your computer, power, network, YouTube’s rules, and music rights all matter.
Choose the OBS source for your playlist

Set up a looping recording or playlist
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes dock to select a scene or create one for the broadcast. Scenes and sources determine what appears in the stream; see the OBS Sources Guide.
- Add the source. In the Sources dock, click the plus button. Choose Media Source for one file or VLC Video for a multi-file playlist.
- Configure one file. In Media Source properties, select Local File, browse to the recording, and turn on Loop. OBS defines this option as replaying the file after playback completes.
- Configure multiple files. In VLC Video properties, create or edit the playlist and add the local files in the order you want. Enable Loop Playlist to restart it when it reaches the end. Enable Shuffle Playlist only if you want playback order randomized.
- Check visibility and restart behavior. Media Source can restart when it becomes active; VLC Video can stop when hidden and restart when visible. If the source is in a scene that may be hidden, test what happens when you switch scenes rather than assuming playback continues.
- Verify the picture and sound. Start playback in OBS and watch the preview. Confirm the intended artwork or video appears and check the audio meters while the mantra plays. Adjust the source or audio levels if the signal is absent or too loud.
- Run a short stream test before relying on it. Confirm the destination receives both audio and video, then let the media reach its end to verify that looping works. OBS recommends testing settings and running a test stream before going live; its Quick Start Guide walks through basic setup.
For multiple recordings, test the actual transitions. OBS documents loop and playlist controls, but does not promise gap-free transitions between every file or uninterrupted operation for every setup.

If YouTube is your destination, its current guidance says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements before scheduling the broadcast.

Set output for your machine and connection
OBS output settings depend on the destination, resolution, frame rate, encoder, scene complexity, computer, and network. OBS’s overview covers bitrate and automatic reconnect, while its hardware encoding guide describes encoder options. There is no universal hardware specification established for a simple mantra playlist: test the chosen settings on the actual computer and stream.
YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate, including primary and backup streams where applicable. This is a margin, not a guarantee of stability. Use a reliable connection, test ahead of time, and keep an eye on the outgoing video and audio. See YouTube’s streaming tips. Plan for archives separately
YouTube says it can automatically archive a live stream that is less than 12 hours long. Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not treat a single continuous 24/7 broadcast as a dependable complete archive. If a full recording matters, use shorter sessions or make a local recording and verify that its file is growing. Confirm rights to the exact mantra recording
A devotional subject does not by itself make a recording free to rebroadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights. Confirm that the permission for your specific recording covers both live streaming and any archive you intend to keep. Owning a copy or crediting the artist does not establish those rights.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the picture with a placeholder, interrupt, or terminate a stream. Even licensed third-party content can require the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Check YouTube’s livestream terms and its guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The recording stops at the end. For a single file, open Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a collection, confirm Loop Playlist is enabled in VLC Video.
- VLC Video is unavailable in the source menu. Install VLC and restart OBS. Match the architecture: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for this source.
- The media stops or starts over after a scene change. Check source visibility behavior and whether the source restarts when activated or stops while hidden. Keep it visible as needed and test scene changes before the broadcast.
- The preview has no sound. Check that the recording itself has audio, watch the OBS audio meters during playback, and verify that the stream output includes the intended audio. Make a short test stream before going live.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast over music. Review rights for the exact recording and intended use. If it is licensed, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID.
- The stream disconnects or becomes unstable. Check the connection, computer load, output settings, and upload headroom. YouTube recommends 20% above total stream bitrate. OBS reconnect behavior can help recover from some interruptions, but it does not guarantee continuous uptime; monitor the actual stream.
- The 24-hour broadcast is missing from archives. YouTube may not capture streams over 12 hours. Use shorter sessions or a verified local recording if you need a complete archive.
