You can run a 24/7 Tamil devotional YouTube channel with OBS by creating a live broadcast in YouTube Studio, sending OBS’s audio-and-video feed to it with the matching stream key, and keeping the computer and internet connection running continuously. Before streaming songs, recordings, artwork, or footage, secure permission for both the live broadcast and any replay; YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt them.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio; YouTube lists these requirements on its live-streaming help page.
- A computer that can run OBS and remain on, plus a reliable internet connection. A 24/7 broadcast depends on both staying available.
- The devotional videos, audio, images, and other material you have permission to use for live streaming. Decide separately whether you also have permission to leave a replay or archive available.
- A plan for what to do if OBS, the computer, power, internet, or YouTube connection stops working.
YouTube treats a broadcast as a watchable event and a stream as the encoder feed that supplies it. Its Live Streaming API documentation even describes a 24/7 broadcast continuing while another concurrent broadcast is created from the same feed. For a single continuous channel, set up the broadcast and OBS feed to match, and monitor the event in YouTube Studio.

Set up YouTube Live Control Room
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create or configure the live broadcast for your channel.
- Set the title, description, and visibility. Use clear Tamil text and confirm it displays correctly in the title, description, and any on-screen graphics.
- Choose the stream settings and retrieve the stream key needed to connect your encoder. The YouTube production guide describes configuring the event and key before connecting an encoder: Full Live Production Guide.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone with access to it may be able to send an encoder feed to your channel. Do not place it in a public document, screenshot, or chat.
Configure OBS and connect the feed
OBS labels and layout can vary by version, so use the current controls in your installation. The essential requirement is that OBS sends the feed to the YouTube broadcast using the stream settings and key shown for that event.

Enter the matching stream key from Live Control Room.
- Build a scene for the channel. Add the video or playlist sources you intend to show, plus any Tamil titles, devotional artwork, or other permitted visuals. Check that text is legible and that the scene does not expose private information.
- Set up audio so the devotional recording is audible without clipping or being overwhelmed by other sources. Check the OBS audio meters while the intended material plays.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for YouTube Live Control Room to show the incoming preview and check the stream health before selecting the control to go live. YouTube’s production guide distinguishes receiving the encoder preview from starting the public broadcast.
- For the first run, use a private or unlisted test if available. Check Tamil characters and diacritics, image framing, audio levels, and the transition from the end of one video to the next before committing to a continuous public stream.
Keep the channel running around the clock
OBS does not keep a stream alive by itself if its host computer shuts down or loses internet. For a self-managed setup, the computer, OBS, media sources, and connection all need to remain available. A UPS can help a computer ride through a brief power interruption, but it does not protect the internet connection and cannot guarantee that the broadcast will remain uninterrupted.

- Write down who will check the stream and how they will restart OBS and reconnect after an outage.
- Keep the media files and OBS scene configuration organized so a restart does not depend on a particular operator remembering hidden settings.
- Check the YouTube preview and stream health after reconnecting; do not assume that restarting OBS automatically restores the event.
- Consider how you will update the devotional playlist and visuals without losing track of the active broadcast or stream key.
Clear rights for devotional songs and visuals
A devotional subject does not automatically make a particular recording or image free to rebroadcast. Rights may apply to the composition, performance, recording, artwork, photographs, and video separately. Get permission that covers live streaming and, if you intend to keep a replay, the archive or replay use as well.
YouTube says live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material. A match can cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even licensed material may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams, keep records of permissions, and ask rights holders about Content ID allowlisting for your channel.

Decide whether to keep an archive
YouTube’s undated Full Live Production Guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends manually recording streams longer than 12 hours. Treat that as guidance in the document, not a guarantee of current archive behavior for every account. Check the current controls in YouTube Studio and make your own recording if retaining a long broadcast matters. Archive permission is a separate rights question from permission to stream live.
