To broadcast a prerecorded breathing-exercise playlist as a continuous YouTube Live stream, send it through an encoder using the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room. A computer running streaming software can do this; YouTube does not require a dedicated streaming PC. If you only want to repeat videos for your own viewing, use YouTube’s Loop playlist control instead—that does not create a live broadcast.
Choose between a live broadcast and looping a playlist
These are different workflows:
- Broadcast for viewers: An encoder sends prerecorded video to YouTube as a live stream. Viewers watch a live broadcast on your channel.
- Repeat videos for yourself: Open the playlist in YouTube and turn on Loop playlist. This repeats playback for your viewing session; it does not make your channel live.
This guide covers the first option. YouTube supports webcam, mobile, and encoder workflows; an encoder is the route for sending a prepared video playlist and can be software or hardware. YouTube’s live streaming tips say a laptop can be enough and expensive equipment is not necessary.

Check channel eligibility and rights first
Enable live streaming in advance
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the intended start rather than immediately before you plan to go live. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and live-streaming eligibility requirements.
Confirm you can use every video
Use only recordings, music, voice tracks, and other material you have the rights and permissions to stream. A breathing exercise may include music, nature sounds, narration, or visuals with separate rights. YouTube’s playlist policy says rules can apply to playlists whose combined videos violate Community Guidelines. YouTube also says matching another copyrighted live broadcast can restrict your ability to live stream; review its live-stream restrictions guidance.

Prepare the playlist and stream settings
Make a continuous, usable playlist
Arrange the breathing sessions in the intended order and check that playback between files is acceptable. If the playlist contains pauses, spoken instructions, music, or changing sound levels, preview the transitions as a viewer would hear them. Make sure the video is suitable for a public, all-day audience and does not contain material you are not authorized to broadcast.
Create or schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or schedule one, then choose its title, description, visibility, and other available details.
- Choose whether the stream should be public, unlisted, or private. Use public if it should be discoverable, unlisted if access should be limited to people with the link, or private for restricted viewing.
- Decide whether to allow DVR so viewers can pause or rewind, if that option is available for the stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
YouTube’s stream settings guidance covers privacy and DVR choices. The encoder uses the URL and key to connect to YouTube; keep the key out of public descriptions, screenshots, and shared documents.

Connect an encoder and start the broadcast
- Choose an encoder workflow. A software encoder on a computer is often sufficient; hardware encoders are another option, not a requirement.
- In the encoder, enter the stream URL and key copied from Live Control Room. Exact menus differ by encoder, so follow that product’s instructions for adding a custom RTMP/YouTube destination.
- Select the prepared breathing-exercise video or playlist as the encoder’s media source, and configure it to repeat continuously. Check the encoder’s preview and audio before sending the feed.
- Start the encoder output. In Live Control Room, confirm YouTube receives the signal and that the preview looks and sounds right.
- Start the live broadcast from YouTube when ready, following the controls shown in Live Control Room. Keep the encoder and the computer running for as long as you want the DIY broadcast to continue.
Plan bandwidth, monitoring, and replay expectations
Use upload capacity, not download speed
The stream depends on your internet connection’s upload capacity and stability. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom and warns that network interruptions can break a stream. Check the available upload capacity at the streaming location, allow for other devices using the connection, and avoid relying on a connection that is already near its limit. The recommendation is from YouTube’s streaming tips; its page does not state a publication year.

Test before viewers arrive, then monitor it
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance, checking the preview, verifying access from the watch page and a mobile device, and monitoring audio and video continuously. Test the playlist transitions, sound, and stream access before announcing the broadcast. During a long stream, watch for encoder disconnections, frozen video, silence, or a changed YouTube preview.

Do not count on a complete 24-hour replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not establish that a 24-hour stream will be saved as one complete replay, so do not promise viewers a full-day archive. If replay availability matters, make a separate plan for recordings or shorter sessions and check YouTube’s current archive behavior before relying on it.
Troubleshooting common failures
- You cannot start a live stream: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. If live streaming was just enabled for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck that the stream URL and key were copied into the correct encoder fields, and confirm the encoder is actually sending. If the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- The stream drops or becomes unstable: Check upload capacity and network interruptions. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom; reduce competing network use or use a more reliable connection if capacity is insufficient.
- The preview has no sound, poor transitions, or frozen video: Inspect the encoder’s source and output, then test the full playlist before restarting. Verify both the Control Room preview and the viewer-facing watch page.
- A video or audio track is blocked or raises a policy issue: Recheck rights for each component and review YouTube’s playlist and live-stream policies. Do not assume that placing material in a playlist grants permission to broadcast it.
- You expected a 24-hour replay: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed single archive for a 24-hour broadcast. Plan around that limit rather than treating the live stream as a dependable full-day recording.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer and connection to remain on for a continuous YouTube broadcast, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded video, not a camera feed.
