YouTube does not provide an automatic loop switch for an encoder feed: the repeat behavior must come from your playback workflow or streaming service. For a local setup, the essentials are a stable 4K60 source, an encoder configured to YouTube’s ingest recommendations, a private stream key, and a test in Live Control Room before you go live.
Choose how the recording will loop
Run a local encoder
A software encoder can send a prerecorded file as a live feed if it can play that file continuously and maintain a stable output. This approach gives you direct control, but the computer, playback software, encoder, and network connection must remain operational for the stream to continue. Confirm that your specific software supports looping a media source; YouTube’s encoder documentation describes ingest settings, not a built-in file-loop control.

Use a cloud service
A cloud service can host the playback and keep sending the feed without requiring your home computer to stay on. YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists Gyre for 24/7 prerecorded streams, including 4K at 30 or 60 fps, and lists AWS Elemental MediaLive as a broadcast-grade service supporting up to 4Kp60 HEVC. Check providers’ current features, limits, and prices directly before choosing; the directory does not establish current pricing or guarantee uninterrupted operation.
For this use case, StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider: it loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud, supports uploads up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives the first day free. See StreamNeo.

Prepare the recording and check your rights
Use a source file that is already 4K and 60 fps if that is the output you want. YouTube detects resolution and frame rate automatically by default, but sending a 4K60 feed does not guarantee viewers will receive it at that quality: their connection, device, and YouTube playback conditions also matter. Check that the recording’s audio is present and balanced, and preview representative gameplay motion rather than relying on a static opening frame.
Before rebroadcasting, make sure you have the rights needed for the gameplay recording, included music, overlays, and any other material in it. A live loop does not remove copyright or YouTube policy obligations. YouTube’s reused-content and monetization decisions are separate from whether a stream can technically be sent; do not assume that permission to play a game automatically covers every soundtrack or third-party asset.
Set YouTube’s 4K60 ingest parameters
YouTube’s current guidance accessed in 2026 recommends the following encoder bitrates for 2160p at 60 fps. These are ingest recommendations, not a promise of the quality each viewer will receive.

| Video codec | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 10 Mbps | 35 Mbps |
| H.264 | 14 Mbps | 50 Mbps |
YouTube lists RTMP and RTMPS as supported ingest protocols and recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection between encoder and YouTube. It lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1; use constant bitrate (CBR), set the frame rate to 60 fps, and set the keyframe interval to two seconds. YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds.
Make sure your upload path can sustain the selected bitrate for the full stream, with capacity left for network variation and other household traffic. If the connection cannot reliably carry the recommended bitrate, a lower bitrate may be more stable, but the incoming feed may not retain the intended 4K60 quality.
Create the live stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule the live event, then select the encoder-streaming workflow. YouTube’s encoder option is intended for feeds sent from software or hardware encoders.
- Copy the stream key and ingest details. Enter them in your encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not show it in a recording or share it publicly; reset it in YouTube if you think it has been exposed.
- Set the encoder output. Choose RTMPS where available, the codec and bitrate appropriate for your system, CBR, 60 fps, and a two-second keyframe interval. Configure the playback source to repeat the recording or playlist in the encoder software; that repeat setting is specific to the software, not a YouTube Live setting.
- Choose automatic or manual resolution detection. YouTube detects resolution and frame rate by default. If you need to set them manually, YouTube says to use a custom stream key and enable manual settings in Live Control Room.
- Start sending a preview feed. Wait for Live Control Room to show the incoming video and inspect its stream-health status before starting the public event.
Test the loop, then monitor it while live
Test with gameplay motion and audio similar to the material that will run in the loop. Check that the file actually returns to the beginning, that sound does not cut out or jump unexpectedly at the loop point, and that the encoder remains connected. Review the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages before going public.

- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
During the broadcast, monitor stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube’s operational guidance also recommends checking that any local archive is valid and its file size is growing. Make an operating plan for who will respond if the source stops, the encoder crashes, the network fails, or YouTube raises a rights or policy issue. Testing and monitoring reduce avoidable surprises, but neither YouTube’s documentation nor a loop setup guarantees uninterrupted uptime.

Troubleshooting common 4K60 loop problems
- YouTube reports unstable stream health: Check whether the outgoing bitrate is fluctuating, whether competing devices are using the upload connection, and whether the selected bitrate exceeds what the connection can sustain. Confirm that the encoder is using CBR and the correct ingest settings.
- The stream is not 4K or 60 fps: Verify the source file and encoder output, then check whether Live Control Room is set to automatic detection or manual settings. For manual selection, YouTube requires a custom stream key and manual settings enabled.
- The encoder connects but the video does not repeat: Check the playback source’s loop or playlist behavior in the encoder workflow. YouTube receives the live feed; it does not make an encoder’s source repeat automatically.
- Audio is missing or changes at the loop point: Inspect the source file and test a full loop with representative audio before going public. Confirm the encoder’s audio input and output settings.
- The stream key may be exposed: Reset the key in YouTube and update the encoder or cloud service with the replacement before resuming.
- Chat feels delayed: This is expected to some extent for 4K because YouTube’s low-latency option is unavailable for 4K streams; YouTube uses normal latency.
Estimate local operating needs before committing
A local setup avoids a cloud-service subscription but depends on a computer and network staying available around the clock. Account for the computer’s power use, any cooling or hardware needs, upload capacity, and the time needed to monitor and recover failures. A cloud service shifts playback and stream continuity away from the home PC, but its current price, storage limits, supported formats, and recovery behavior should be checked with the provider. YouTube’s verified directory is a useful starting point for identifying services, not a pricing or uptime comparison.
Use the upload-time calculator to estimate how long a file may take to upload, the cloud vs PC cost calculator to compare operating approaches, and the copyright safety checklist to review rights-related questions before you stream.
