This prevents new prompts; review the saved site permissions separately if a website was already allowed or blocked.
Block new location requests in Firefox
- Open Firefox Settings (called Preferences in some contexts).
- Select Privacy & Security. If you cannot find the control, use Settings search for “location.”
- Scroll to Permissions and click Settings beside Location.
- Check Block new requests asking to access your location.
- Click Save Changes.
Mozilla describes this checkbox as preventing websites from making new location permission requests. The Location Permissions dialog also lists sites with saved Allow or Block choices. Check that list separately if you want to change an existing site permission; the global checkbox is not documented as deleting saved exceptions. Mozilla’s location-permission guide explains how Firefox handles location requests and saved permissions.

Block new camera requests
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security and find Permissions.
- Click Settings beside Camera.
- Check Block new requests asking to access your camera, then click Save Changes.
- In the same dialog, review saved site entries. Change an individual site’s Allow/Block choice or remove its entry if you want to alter that site’s permission.
This setting blocks new website camera prompts; it does not necessarily undo a permission already saved for a site. Blocking camera access can also make features that rely on the camera unavailable. Mozilla documents a similar control for the microphone, if you want to block those prompts too. See Mozilla’s camera and microphone permission guide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesReset a permission for one website
If you want to undo a changed permission for a particular site rather than block requests everywhere, use that site’s permission controls.

Clear the permission from the address bar
When the site’s Permissions icon appears in the address bar, click it, then click the X beside the permission status. Mozilla says this clears the changed status and returns that permission type to its default. The icon is not shown when no default permission setting has been changed for the site. See Mozilla’s Site Permissions panel guide.
Use Page Info
Open the site information and Page Info controls, or press Ctrl+I on Windows or Linux and Command+I on macOS. Mozilla’s Page Info reference lists Allow, Block, and Always Ask options for camera and microphone. Some permission changes must instead be made in Firefox Settings. Details are in Mozilla’s Page Info guide.

Understand location sharing
Mozilla says Firefox does not share your location with a website without your approval. In Mozilla’s described location-estimation process, after approval Firefox sends the computer’s IP address, information about nearby wireless access points, and a random Google-assigned client identifier that expires every two weeks to Google Location Services over an encrypted connection. Firefox then passes location information to the requesting website after you approve the request. This describes the permission-based process, not data sent on every visit.

On Android and iOS, the device’s app permissions control whether Firefox itself may use the phone’s camera or microphone. Mozilla directs Android users to the device’s Apps settings and iOS users to Privacy settings to change Firefox’s camera or microphone access. That operating-system setting is separate from a website asking Firefox for camera permission. The desktop location-blocking steps above should not be assumed to match mobile menus.
