If your LG TV reads menus or status messages aloud, turn off Audio Guidance: open Settings > All Settings > General > Accessibility > Audio Guidance, then switch it off. If the voice describes scenes in a show or speaks only in an app, it is controlled by a different setting.
First identify what the voice is reading

LG distinguishes Audio Guidance, which reads menus and device statuses, from Audio Description, which narrates visual content. If the voice does not stop after switching off Audio Guidance, use the matching row above. LG’s Audio Guidance instructions and Audio Description instructions explain these separate features.

Turn off Audio Guidance in Settings
- Press the Settings button on the remote.
- Choose All Settings.
- Open General > Accessibility > Audio Guidance.
- Set Audio Guidance to Off.
LG lists this path for webOS 6.0 through webOS 22 and webOS 23 or later. On TVs earlier than webOS 5.0, the path is Settings > All Settings > Accessibility > Audio Guidance; it may not have the General step. LG notes that menus and support-page images can vary by model and software version. See LG’s Audio Guidance support page for its illustrated steps.
Use the remote shortcut if available
On supported remotes, press and hold Mute until the Accessibility menu opens, then switch Audio Guidance off. If that shortcut does not open the menu on your TV, use Settings instead. LG describes this shortcut in its Audio Guidance instructions.

If the voice describes a show or movie
Look in the TV’s Accessibility settings for Audio Description or, on some older models, Video Description, and turn it off. When the program comes through a set-top box, check that box’s audio or accessibility settings as well: the narration may be enabled there rather than on the TV. LG covers this separate option in its Audio Description guide.
If narration is limited to an app or connected device
Check the specific app or device for an accessibility, captions, or audio option that controls narration. LG says narration originating in an app or connected device is controlled there, not by the TV’s Audio Guidance setting. Turn off the relevant option in that source’s own settings. LG’s guidance on Audio Description also addresses app and connected-device narration.

A missing Magic Remote pointer can be a clue
If the pointer disappeared around the time menu narration started, Audio Guidance may be on. LG says the feature removes the pointer while reading highlighted menu items; turning Audio Guidance off stops the menu narration and restores the pointer. See LG’s pointer troubleshooting page.
