What Motion assist does
Motion assist is Google’s current name for the feature some people call motion-sickness bubbles or motion cues. It places small bubbles along the display edges and moves them in response to vehicle turns, acceleration, and braking. Google describes the overlay as a way to help align visual cues with bodily motion while using a phone as a passenger. [Google Android Help; Google’s September Android feature page]
Rank #2
- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
Google describes the intended benefit but does not provide a quantified effectiveness figure in these materials, so the feature should not be treated as a guarantee against motion sickness.
If Motion assist is missing from Settings
Google lists Android 17 or later and updated Google Play Services as requirements. Search Settings for the exact label Motion assist. Availability can also depend on rollout timing: Android features delivered through Google Play Services or app updates may arrive gradually and take several days to appear. [Google Android Help; Google Android]
9to5Google reported staged rollout activity on September 3, 2026, and on September 14 reported broader availability on Pixel and some Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 17. Those are dated rollout observations, not a guarantee for every device, region, or carrier. [9to5Google, September 3, 2026; 9to5Google, September 14, 2026]
