Turn off Muse interaction use for AI training
Meta’s September 8, 2026 Muse announcement, updated September 30, says people can opt out of their interactions being used to train Meta AI models. The official material does not identify the setting’s exact name or where to find it.

- Open the current Muse app or website. Check its privacy or data-control settings for an option to opt out of using interactions to train Meta AI models.
- Read the setting’s description before changing it. Meta’s announcement establishes that a training opt-out exists, but does not specify its regional availability, whether it applies to past interactions, or what happens to data already used.
- If you cannot find the option, consult current official Muse help or contact Meta support. Do not rely on a menu path from another user or an older version; the sources available do not establish a universal path.
This control is about model training. Meta has not said in the cited Muse announcement that opting out also disables Muse’s in-product memory or stops recommendation personalization elsewhere.
Choose the control that matches what you want to stop

Adjust Meta ads and feed recommendations separately
In an October 1, 2025 announcement, Meta said interactions with Meta AI features would be used to personalize content and ads on its platforms, with the change taking effect December 16, 2025 in most regions. Meta pointed users to Ads Preferences and other feed controls to adjust what they see.

That announcement appeared before Muse launched and does not name Muse. It is therefore not enough to conclude that changing Ads Preferences or feed controls excludes Muse activity—or that Muse activity is used for those recommendations. Treat those controls as adjustments to Meta’s ads and feeds, not as a confirmed Muse opt-out.
The 2025 notice also describes linked accounts in Accounts Center: information can be used across Meta Company Products, while WhatsApp AI interactions are not used to personalize experiences across separate accounts when the WhatsApp account is not linked in the same Accounts Center. This is a qualification about that notice’s linked-account behavior, not confirmation of Muse’s coverage.

Review connected apps and remembered details
Limit access to connected services
Muse lets users choose which apps to connect and how much access to grant; Meta says access can be changed or disconnected. Review the permissions for any service Muse can reach and revoke or reduce access if you no longer want Muse to use information from it. Meta’s Google Play listing also describes connector permissions and an activity log. Disconnecting a service is not a general opt-out from AI training or Meta recommendations.

Meta says users can tell Muse to forget specific learned information. Use this for a detail you do not want Muse to retain for assistance. The announcement does not say that forgetting an item erases all account data, reverses prior training, or changes ad and feed personalization.

What Meta says about Muse data and ads
Meta states that Muse does not share a person’s conversations or the data in their Muse Secure VM with Meta’s ad systems. That is a statement about sharing with ad systems; it does not establish the scope of other recommendation systems or change what the separate training control does.
Meta’s Google Play listing says the app may collect location and other data and that users can request data deletion. Those marketplace disclosures are distinct from Meta’s statements about advertising and model training. The listing also cautions that Muse may be inaccurate or take unexpected actions, and advises users to review activity and intervene when needed.

Availability and evidence limits
Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026, describing a rollout in the United States on iOS, Android, and muse.ai. The sources available do not establish the current training-setting path, the regions in which that setting is offered, or whether Muse interactions fall under Meta’s October 2025 cross-product recommendation policy. Meta’s statements describe the company’s product and controls; they are not independent verification of implementation.
