There is no documented IRL Pro setting that guarantees a YouTube live stream will stay uninterrupted when you change upload settings mid-broadcast. The official guidance reviewed does not establish that changing resolution, frame rate, bitrate, or another upload setting necessarily restarts the YouTube event. To reduce risk, configure and test the stream before going live; if you are already live, treat a settings change as potentially disruptive and plan for a brief interruption.
First, identify what is actually restarting
A brief interruption, IRL Pro reconnecting to the ingest server, and YouTube creating or restarting a live event are not necessarily the same thing. The documentation does not define a diagnostic test that equates them. During the next incident, note what viewers see, whether IRL Pro’s broadcast indicator drops, and what YouTube Live Control Room reports: a new event, a temporary ingest interruption, or a loss of signal. Record the app and YouTube versions too.

This distinction matters because the available official IRL Pro and YouTube guidance does not confirm that changing an upload setting causes a new YouTube event. It also does not document a “keep live while changing” switch. Avoid assuming either that a setting change is the cause or that a particular toggle will prevent a restart.

Prepare the stream before going live

Verify the destination URL and key
Use the complete, current publish URL and the matching stream key. Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro guide says its URL can become invalid if the key’s region or protocol changes, or if the key is rotated; in that service’s workflow, replace the old URL with the current one. That is service-specific guidance, not proof that a direct YouTube connection will behave identically. Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro streaming setup guide explains its URL formats.

Match the protocol at both ends
Choose the same protocol in IRL Pro and the receiving service’s dashboard. Enhanced IRL’s guide describes RTMP and SRT for its own stream-key service: with SRT, the URL carries the key in
streamid; with RTMP, its URL already ends in the key. Confirm the actual destination’s requirements rather than treating those details as YouTube-specific rules. -
Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate together
Set output to a combination the receiving service accepts and your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends CBR, supports frame rates up to 60 fps, and recommends a 2-second keyframe interval (do not exceed 4 seconds). For H.264, YouTube’s current Help page lists these recommended bitrates:

For mobile streaming through Enhanced IRL, its guide advises starting at half the applicable cap, testing the usual route, and increasing only while bitrate stays stable. A plan ceiling does not mean a moving connection can sustain that rate.

Test the real conditions
Run a speed test, then test before the event with representative audio and movement. YouTube specifically recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitoring stream health during the event. This is especially important for IRL broadcasts, where the network route and signal can change as you move. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers testing and stream-health monitoring.

If you need to change a setting while live
Because the midstream behavior is not established by the available documentation, do not promise yourself or viewers that changing a setting will preserve uninterrupted continuity. If the event is important, keep the current settings, or arrange a low-risk test or a planned interruption before changing them. Afterward, check both IRL Pro’s broadcast state and YouTube Live Control Room rather than judging only by a brief viewer-side freeze.
YouTube’s “reuse settings” option copies choices including auto-start and auto-stop when creating a subsequent stream. That may affect how a later event starts or ends, but it does not explain IRL Pro’s behavior when upload settings change mid-broadcast. YouTube’s live stream settings guide describes the reuse-settings behavior.

Troubleshoot repeated reconnects or “No signal”
- The connection loops after a key or destination change: Recheck the complete URL and current key, and make sure the protocol still matches. Enhanced IRL documents an outdated URL as a possible cause of a reconnect loop in its own service workflow; do not assume that is the diagnosis for every direct IRL Pro-to-YouTube setup.
- The stream drops while moving: Check whether the bitrate exceeds what the current mobile route can sustain. For Enhanced IRL’s service, its documentation says RTMP may struggle with packet loss during movement and suggests SRT for that service; if already using SRT there, it suggests reducing bitrate. These are Enhanced IRL-specific suggestions, not universal YouTube requirements.
- The stream is unstable despite a valid destination: Lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate to a sustainable combination, then test again before the event. Keep the encoder’s output within both the receiving service’s constraints and the connection’s capacity.
- YouTube reports an ingest interruption but IRL Pro remains active: Capture the exact stream-health message and compare it with what viewers saw. The documentation does not establish that this necessarily means a new YouTube event.
- YouTube appears to show a new event: Note the event and stream details in Live Control Room, along with the timing of any IRL Pro changes. The available guidance does not identify a setting that prevents this outcome.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than broadcast from a moving camera, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera and streams to YouTube only. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Every slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60 fps, at one flat price per slot; the first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.
