To remove lock-screen ads from an ad-supported Fire tablet, open Amazon’s Manage Your Devices page, select the tablet, and use Special Offers > Remove offers. Amazon shows the one-time fee for that specific device before you confirm. Free settings can filter some lock-screen content or hide Home screen recommendations, but they do not remove lock-screen ads.
Remove lock-screen ads through your Amazon account
Amazon calls these ads “Special Offers.” Its guidance says they display on the Fire tablet’s lock screen, and that ad-supported models may be sold at a subsidized price. Removing offers is the paid option documented by Amazon; the fee covers the difference between the ad-supported and no-ad device price.

- Sign in to the Amazon account associated with the tablet and open Manage Your Devices.
- Select Devices, then choose the Fire tablet.
- Under Special Offers, select Remove offers. Amazon displays the fee in a pop-up.
- To proceed, select End Offers and Pay the Fee. Amazon describes this as a one-time payment charged to the account’s 1-Click payment method.
Check the amount shown for your tablet before confirming. Amazon’s instructions do not establish a universal price, and the fee may differ by device or account.

What free settings can—and cannot—change
These controls address particular content or Home screen recommendations. They are not substitutes for the paid Special Offers removal flow.

Filter mature or adult lock-screen content
On supported software, go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > Amazon App Settings > Special Offers > Content Filtering. This filters mature or adult content; it does not turn off the lock-screen ad placement.
Hide Home screen recommendations
Go to Settings > Apps and Notifications > Amazon App Settings > Home Screens, then turn off Recommendations and Continue and Discover Row. This removes the recommendations section rather than lock-screen Special Offers. To dismiss one item in the Discover row instead, long-press it and select Not Interested.

Limit personalization or device-usage data
Amazon provides a separate setting to limit interest-based ads. That changes personalization, not the presence of Special Offers. Likewise, opting out of processing device usage data for marketing and product improvement does not affect Special Offers on a device purchased with them.

Why the menus may look different
Settings labels and availability can vary with Fire OS, tablet generation, profile, and locale. Amazon’s cited instructions do not give a complete model-by-model menu guide. If a path is missing or named differently, check the tablet’s current Amazon device support information or use the account-level removal page; do not assume a personalization setting removes Special Offers.
