Turn off repeat for the current video, then check the podcast playlist’s separate repeat control. YouTube podcasts are playlists of episode videos, so the setting that repeats one video is different from the setting that repeats the whole playlist.
First, check what is repeating
If the same episode starts again immediately, the current video may be set to loop. If episodes advance but the show begins again after its last video, the playlist may be looping. Check both controls: they have separate scopes and can be enabled independently.

Turn off repeat on your device
Android
- Open the episode on its watch screen.
- Tap Settings → Additional settings → Loop video and turn off Loop video.
- If the episode is playing from a playlist, inspect the playlist’s Loop control beneath the video. Tap it to cycle its state. A “1” on the loop icon indicates that the current video—not just the playlist—is set to repeat.

- Right-click the video player and click Loop to toggle repeat for the individual episode.
- If the video belongs to a playlist, expand the playlist panel and check its separate Loop control. Turn off the repeat state that is causing the unwanted replay.

TV or game console
- While the episode is playing, press down on the remote or controller to show playback controls.
- Choose Repeat and cycle the setting until the current video is no longer set to repeat.
- If you are watching from a playlist, check its repeat state separately.
You can also find the Repeat toggle in the settings shown while watching. The exact control presentation may vary across TV and console app versions; YouTube’s repeat help page describes the documented behavior.
If the same episode still comes back
Confirm that playback is coming from the podcast playlist you expect, and check that the episode order is correct. YouTube defines a podcast show as a playlist and its episodes as videos in that playlist. On YouTube Studio, a creator can edit the podcast’s default video order; YouTube recommends newest-to-oldest for episodic shows and oldest-to-newest for serial shows. - If one episode repeats before another begins, revisit the individual-video loop setting.
- If episodes play through but the show starts over at the end, revisit playlist repeat.
- If both repeat controls are off, verify the selected playlist and its episode order. The documented controls do not establish every reason a listener might see the same episode again.
