First check whether the shortcut you use is set to always run the app as an administrator. Open that shortcut’s Properties > Compatibility settings and, if Run this program as an administrator is selected, clear it and try opening the app normally. Do this only if the app’s features work without administrator access. If the prompt remains, the app itself may require elevation; keep the prompt and check with the publisher for an update or a standard-user setup instead of disabling User Account Control (UAC).
Why Windows keeps asking for administrator permission
The prompt is a User Account Control (UAC) request. UAC asks for consent or administrator credentials when a program needs elevated rights to make protected system changes. Microsoft describes UAC as a security feature designed to protect Windows from unauthorized changes. Most applications are intended to run with standard-user permissions, though some older or specially designed programs need additional rights.

A prompt on every launch can come from an explicit setting on the shortcut, the app’s own executable manifest, or the way the app is designed to start. Which cause applies depends on the program and how you open it.

Check the shortcut you actually use
Windows can have separate shortcuts for the same app: for example, a desktop shortcut, a Start-menu entry, a pinned taskbar item, or a shortcut to the executable. Check the one that triggers the prompt; changing a different shortcut may not change the launch behavior you see.

- Open the Compatibility tab.
- If Run this program as an administrator is checked, clear it and select Apply, then OK.
- Launch the app normally and test the features you need.
If the box was already clear, or clearing it stops the prompt but a required feature no longer works, restore the setting if needed and continue with the app’s own requirements. A shortcut setting can request an elevated launch, but it cannot remove an elevation requirement built into the application.
If the prompt remains, the app may require elevation
Some applications declare their requested privilege level in an executable manifest. Microsoft documents three common levels:

- requireAdministrator requires administrator privileges. Windows requests elevation when the app is launched by a process that is not already elevated.
- asInvoker runs with the permissions of the process that started it.
- highestAvailable requests the highest permission level available to the current user.
If the app uses requireAdministrator, changing the shortcut’s Compatibility checkbox does not change that manifest. The prompt may be necessary for the app’s current design, particularly if it writes to protected locations or changes system-wide settings.
Look for an app-specific fix before changing Windows security
Check the publisher’s support pages or contact its support team to ask whether a newer version works as a standard user, or whether the app has a supported configuration that avoids elevating the whole program. Microsoft’s developer guidance recommends requesting elevation only when an operation genuinely needs access to protected locations or system-wide settings. A better-designed app can keep its everyday interface unelevated and elevate a separate helper only for the privileged operation.

If you use a standard Windows account, an elevation request may ask for an administrator’s credentials rather than simply asking you to approve it. Only provide credentials for a prompt you expected and trust.
Why disabling UAC is not the right routine fix
Turning off UAC to silence one app weakens protection for the whole computer, not just that app. Microsoft warns that disabling Admin Approval Mode disables related UAC policy settings and reduces operating-system security. Prefer correcting the individual shortcut when it is the cause; if the app truly needs elevated rights, keep the prompt or seek a vendor-supported alternative.

When Task Scheduler is relevant
Task Scheduler can run scripts that require elevation, which may suit a deliberate scheduled task. It is not a general way to remove the prompt from an interactive app you open yourself, and it should not be treated as a substitute for finding out why that app needs administrator access.
