How to Spawn Items on an Enshrouded Server: What Vanilla Supports

Vanilla Enshrouded does not document an item-spawn command. This guide explains the dedicated-server JSON, Admin permissions, Custom resource multipliers, troubleshooting, and the limits of item IDs and third-party tools.

Vanilla Enshrouded does not have a documented /spawn, /give, or item-ID command for putting an arbitrary item directly into a player’s inventory. On an official dedicated server, the supported approach is to install the server tool, configure enshrouded_server.json, assign the correct user-group permissions, and—if you need more materials—raise normal resource yields with the Custom gameplay settings. The Admin role gives management permissions; it is not documented as an item-generation cheat.

What you can and cannot do on a vanilla server

Keen Games’ dedicated-server documentation, current to October 15, 2026, describes configuration files, user groups, and gameplay multipliers. It does not publish a command that accepts an item name or ID and creates that item in a player’s inventory. That means a chat command such as /spawn iron 50 or /give player item_id quantity should not be presented as a supported Enshrouded feature.

The distinction matters because several different requests are often called “spawning”:

  • Direct injection: writing a named item and quantity into a character’s inventory. No vanilla command syntax is documented for this.
  • Permission management: allowing a trusted player to open containers, edit a base, or moderate the server. These are user-group capabilities, not item creation.
  • Higher yields: making ordinary chests, defeated enemies, and similar sources provide larger material stacks. The documented resourceDropStackAmountFactor setting does this without selecting a particular item.

If your goal is one specific weapon, ingredient, or block immediately, the official server documentation does not provide a supported server-side command. If your goal is to gather common building materials faster, the Custom settings route is the documented vanilla option.

How the dedicated-server configuration works

The server executable and its configuration are separate from the game client. Keen Games says the dedicated-server executable is available in Steam’s Tools section. When you start that executable for the first time, it creates enshrouded_server.json; that file is then used to configure the dedicated server.

The documented workflow is therefore configuration-based rather than console-based. You edit the server’s JSON while the server is stopped, save a valid file, and restart the server so it loads the changes. Keep a copy of both the JSON and the server’s save data before making changes. A backup lets you restore the previous permissions or gameplay settings if a typo or an unwanted rule affects your world.

Set up the server before changing item-related settings

  1. Install the tool. In Steam, open Library, switch the library filter to Tools, and install Enshrouded Dedicated Server.
  2. Launch it once. Start the dedicated-server executable so it generates enshrouded_server.json. Do not edit the file while the server process is still running.
  3. Stop the server cleanly. Close the server process before opening the JSON. This prevents a running process from overwriting your edit or leaving the file only partly written.
  4. Back up the configuration and save. Copy the original JSON and the current world/character save to a separate folder. Give the backups a date so you can identify the last known-good state.
  5. Edit only the settings you need. Preserve the existing JSON structure and punctuation. Change the user-group or gameplay fields described below rather than adding undocumented command sections.
  6. Restart and test. Start the server again, connect with a test account, and verify permissions and loot behavior before handing the password to the rest of the group.

Windows was the supported operating system identified in the installation documentation at the time of publication. If you are deploying on another operating system or through a hosting panel, confirm that environment’s current support separately; the Windows statement should not be read as a guarantee for every platform.

What the Admin role actually grants

Player permissions are handled through user groups in enshrouded_server.json. The official roles documentation describes presets rather than item commands:

User group Documented capabilities Does it create a chosen item?
Admin Base changes, chest and container access, inventory/world administration described by the server-role documentation, and the ability to kick or ban players. No documented item-injection function.
Friend Base and container access for trusted collaborators. No.
Guest Fewer permissions than Friend. No.
Visitor The most limited of the listed role presets. No.

An Admin password is consequently an access credential, not proof that a hidden /give command exists. Give it only to people who should be able to alter the base, open storage, or remove players. Use Friend, Guest, or Visitor for people who do not need the full administrative scope.

Increase normal material yields with Custom settings

When the practical need is “more resources” rather than “one exact item,” use the gameplay settings. Set gameSettingsPreset to Custom, then adjust resourceDropStackAmountFactor within the range shown in Keen Games’ current gameplay-settings documentation. This factor scales the amount of materials obtained from chests, defeated enemies, and similar normal sources.

The setting changes the quantity produced by those sources; it does not name an item, bypass a recipe, or write an object directly into a player’s inventory. It also does not turn an Admin account into a spawning console. Other documented Custom categories include experience, enemy behavior, durability, hunger, weather, and time, but those controls likewise modify normal gameplay rather than supplying a direct item command.

  1. Stop the dedicated server and make a backup of enshrouded_server.json and the save.
  2. Open the JSON and locate the gameplay-settings section.
  3. Change gameSettingsPreset to Custom.
  4. Set resourceDropStackAmountFactor to a value permitted by the current official documentation. Do not copy a value from an old guide without checking that it is still accepted by your server version.
  5. Save the file, check that the JSON remains valid, and restart the server.
  6. Collect a small, repeatable sample from a documented source such as a chest or defeated enemy. Confirm the resulting stack size with the test account before applying the setting to a shared world.

Because this is a yield multiplier, it is useful for construction projects and routine gathering. It is not a solution for an item that is unavailable from the source you are using, and it does not establish any item-ID syntax.

Choosing the right approach

Approach Vanilla or third-party Specific item created? Where it operates Authoritative documentation Main risk or limitation
Chat or console /spawn//give Would be vanilla if officially implemented Yes in theory Server command interface Not documented by Keen Games Commands found in unofficial posts may be fabricated, obsolete, or intended for another game.
Admin user group Vanilla No Server permissions in enshrouded_server.json Official roles documentation Broad access can allow unwanted base edits, storage access, kicks, or bans.
resourceDropStackAmountFactor Vanilla No; increases ordinary material yields Server gameplay settings Official gameplay-settings documentation Requires Custom preset and affects normal sources rather than a chosen inventory entry.
Client-side save editor or mod Third-party Possibly, depending on the tool A character or world save rather than the documented server role system Compatibility and safety not established here Updates can break it; multiplayer trust, backups, and terms-of-use implications require separate verification.

This comparison prevents a common mistake: treating a reference database, an Admin password, and a save editor as interchangeable forms of spawning. They are not the same mechanism, and only the first-party server settings have a documented support path in this guide.

Understanding item names and IDs

Players often search for “Enshrouded item IDs” after seeing commands in other survival games. An item list can still be useful for identifying names, recipes, or what a source normally drops, but a name or numeric identifier alone does not give the dedicated server an injection API.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Official Enshrouded Wiki and Enshrouded.tools are reference databases. Enshrouded.tools labels itself unofficial. Neither description, by itself, establishes a supported command that an administrator can paste into server chat. Treat any post that combines an ID with an alleged /give syntax as a separate, version-specific claim that needs authoritative confirmation.

Server capacity facts that affect a safe test

Changing a drop multiplier does not remove the need to plan the server itself. Keen Games’ server-support figures give these operational baselines:

  • The dedicated server uses approximately 4.4 GB of idle physical RAM, according to Keen Games’ 2025 support figures.
  • Plan for up to 100 MB of additional RAM per player, using the same 2025 figures. Actual use can vary with the world and player activity.
  • The default query port is 15637. If you change networking or use a host panel, record the effective port and firewall rule rather than assuming the default remains in use.
  • Save files are generated every five minutes. Make manual backups before configuration changes anyway; the automatic save interval is not a substitute for a restorable copy made before an experiment.

Run the first test with one administrator and one ordinary player. That isolates permission errors from connection, memory, and gameplay-setting issues.

Troubleshooting: why a supposed spawn command fails

The server says the command is unknown

That result is consistent with the official documentation: no vanilla item-spawn command is published. Do not keep changing capitalization or swapping item IDs in the hope of finding a hidden syntax. Remove the alleged command from your operating procedure and use either normal gameplay or the documented Custom yield setting.

Admin login works, but no item appears

That is expected. Admin is a permission preset for base, container, moderation, and related management actions. It is not documented to generate an arbitrary object. Confirm that the account has only the permissions it needs and that the server is using the intended user-group password.

The resource multiplier appears to do nothing

  • Confirm that gameSettingsPreset is Custom; changing a Custom-only field while another preset is active may not produce the intended result.
  • Check the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of resourceDropStackAmountFactor.
  • Stop and restart the server after saving the JSON.
  • Test a new chest or defeated enemy rather than judging the setting from an item already in an inventory.
  • Use a value inside the range currently documented by Keen Games. An old tutorial may target a different server version.

Players have more access than intended

Review each user group in enshrouded_server.json and rotate passwords that were shared too widely. Reserve Admin for trusted operators, use Friend for collaborators who need base or container access, and choose Guest or Visitor when those capabilities are unnecessary. Restart and test with a non-admin account so you see the permissions a normal player actually receives.

The server will not start after an edit

Restore the backed-up JSON, then reapply one change at a time. A missing comma, quote, brace, or incorrectly nested field can make a JSON file unreadable. Keep the original file untouched until the edited version has been tested. If the problem persists, compare the file against the structure generated by the current server executable rather than copying a configuration from an older release.

Third-party mods and save editors: what must be verified first

Mods and save editors may exist in the community, but their compatibility, safety, and legality were not established by the official server documentation used here. They can operate on a client character save, a world save, or a separate modded server; those are materially different from changing enshrouded_server.json.

Before using any third-party tool, verify all of the following for the exact Enshrouded version and multiplayer arrangement:

  • Whether the tool edits the same save that the dedicated server loads.
  • Whether every player must install the same mod or only the server operator.
  • Whether the tool has a current release after the latest game update.
  • Whether it preserves a restorable backup and can undo an inventory or world change.
  • Whether the server host and all participants accept the trust, fairness, and terms-of-use implications.

Do not describe an unverified utility as a vanilla command, and do not give an item-ID list the authority of Keen Games’ server documentation.

A safe operating checklist

  • Record the Enshrouded and dedicated-server versions before changing settings.
  • Keep the original enshrouded_server.json and save files in a separate backup location.
  • Use a strong, unique password for the Admin group and share it only with operators.
  • Assign the least powerful group that meets each player’s needs.
  • Use Custom settings and resourceDropStackAmountFactor when you need more normal material yield, not an alleged spawn command.
  • Restart the server after edits and test with both an Admin and a non-admin account.
  • Document the effective query port, especially if it differs from the default 15637.
  • Take a manual backup before experimenting, even though the server generates saves every five minutes.
  • Recheck Keen Games’ support pages after game updates because server fields and behavior can change.

Bottom line for common questions

“How do I spawn items on an Enshrouded server?”

You cannot do so through a documented vanilla command. Install and configure the dedicated server, then use normal gameplay or the Custom resource-yield setting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Is there an Enshrouded give-item command?”

No command is provided in the cited official server documentation. Avoid presenting an unofficial syntax as supported.

“Can an Enshrouded Admin spawn resources?”

Admin permissions allow management actions such as base and container access and kicking or banning. They do not document direct resource injection. More resources require normal drops or the documented multiplier.

“What are the item IDs?”

Reference databases can help identify names and recipes, but an ID does not establish a server-side injection mechanism.

“How do I use console commands on a dedicated server?”

The official material used here documents configuration through enshrouded_server.json, not a console command system for arbitrary item creation. Recheck the current Keen Games documentation if a future update adds such an interface.
