You solve it by entering two codes at the panels, turning each floor’s valve to a set position, and making the red pipe run unbroken from the bottom floor to the top. Then you finish the gas sequence at the ground-floor console.
Before you start
Collect the reference sheet and the Controller Key before you touch any panel. Walkthroughs place the Controller Key in a box beside the valve on the second floor, so check that area first. You will need the reference sheet to translate the alarm code into the correct entry.

Step 1: Release the controls with two codes
The puzzle uses two separate code entries. Do them in this order.
- Alarm panel: Use the Controller Key at the alarm panel. The panel displays alarm code 77289. Look up 77289 on the reference sheet, which gives the entry A5D7, and enter it.
- Command console: Go to the command console and enter E3E3, then confirm. This releases the rotation clamps on the pipe valves so you can turn them.
If the valves still will not turn, the clamp release has not registered. Re-check that you entered E3E3 at the command console rather than at the alarm panel.

- Experienced entirely in first person, explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged.
- SILENT HILL: Townfall is a full-length, self-contained psychological horror set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland, 1996
Step 2: Set each floor’s valve
Work from the bottom floor upward. Each valve has a fixed setting, and the goal is the same for every floor: the red pipe segment must meet the segment above and below it with no gap.
| Floor | Valve turn | What you should see |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Two turns in either direction | Pipe enters the floor-1 section aligned for the floor-2 connection |
| 2 | One turn left (or three turns right) | The pipe bends to meet the floor-3 section |
| 3 | Two turns in either direction | Pipe continues upward to floor 4 |
| 4 | Two turns in either direction | Pipe reaches the top, completing the route |
On floors 1, 3, and 4, the turn direction does not change the final orientation, so you can turn either way. Floor 2 is the only valve where direction matters: a single turn left and three turns right land in the same position.

- Returning to an island town to ‘put things right’, Simon Ordell descends into a world of tense evasion, explosive confrontations, and mind-bending puzzles that slowly surface the truth of St. Amelia
- Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right’, encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest
- Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface
- Experienced entirely in first person, Simon must explore, evade, and survive using a limited set of weapons and tools, including the CRTV, a pocket television used to tune into unstable signals. Evasion is tense; combat is frenetic, while narrative driven puzzles reveal a truth that refuses to stay submerged
Once all four valves are set, look at the pipe as a whole. It should appear as one continuous red line through all four levels. A visible break means at least one valve is off its setting.

- Day One Edition Bonus: CRTV Style: Rusted, CRTV Style: Beach Edition
- When Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to "put things in order", he meets a city lying quietly in dense fog, seemingly abandoned, yet anything but dormant
- After venturing further to understand his connection to this place and its inhabitants, he gradually discovers fragments of the past rising to the surface
- Simon must explore, evade and survive from a first-person perspective. It uses a limited arsenal of weapons and tools, including the CRTV: a portable TV to receive unstable signals
- The dodging is tension, the battles are hectic and the story-based puzzles reveal a truth that does not want to remain hidden
- Select Gas Flow.
- Run Flow Test. It checks the aligned route.
- After the flow check succeeds, press Ignite.
Walkthroughs disagree on whether Gas Flow should be started before or after the valves are turned. The end results are the same: a successful Flow Test followed by Ignite. If your console shows a different prompt order from the one above, follow the on-screen prompts and check that the Flow Test passes before you ignite.
After ignition
Once the ignition succeeds, the walkthroughs direct you through the opening that appears on the left side of the area. Continue from there to move on through the chapter.

If the puzzle does not work
- Valves will not turn: The clamps are still locked. Re-enter E3E3 at the command console and confirm.
- Alarm code does not match: Confirm the displayed alarm reads 77289 and that you are using the Controller Key at the alarm panel, not another panel.
- Pipe has a gap after turning: Recheck floors 1 to 4 against the table, paying closest attention to floor 2, where the direction changes the result.
- Flow Test fails: The pipe route is still incomplete. Return to the valves before running the test again.
