Check for clasp micro-adjustment first. If link removal is allowed, use the specified tool on a clean, stable, protected surface; if the link mechanism or tool is uncertain, have a jeweler or watchmaker do it.
Identify the bracelet before adjusting it
Titanium bracelets do not share one universal sizing method. Depending on the model, links may use threaded pins, a special supplied tool, or another mechanism; the clasp may also have its own adjustment. Applying instructions for a different bracelet can damage parts or the watch.

Some bracelets let you change the fit at the clasp without removing a link, but this is model-specific. Reduce contact risks before link work
- Work over a clean, stable surface with a soft cloth or protective mat beneath the watch and bracelet.
- Keep the case from rubbing against tools or the work surface. Longines discusses protecting exposed lugs with tape during bracelet handling, but protection is not a guarantee against scratches: Longines link-removal guidance.
- Use only the tool specified for the bracelet, and keep removed links and small parts together.
IWC’s metal-bracelet instructions say, “To avoid scratching the bracelet and base, place a cloth underneath the bracelet.” They also refer to a supplied special tool: IWC metal bracelet instructions. The cloth helps prevent contact with the work surface; it does not make the procedure scratch-proof.

The mechanism varies: Garmin’s cited vented QuickFit titanium bracelets use threaded link pins and the instructions specify a small flat-bladed screwdriver; IWC’s cited instructions call for a special supplied tool. Neither tool should be assumed to fit another bracelet.

Some manufacturers also specify removing links in a balanced way. For example, Garmin and IWC provide model-specific guidance on link removal, and Longines discusses balanced removal. Do not apply a layout or direction rule unless it appears in your own bracelet’s instructions.

Keep screws, pins, collars and removed links organized as you work. Reassemble the bracelet exactly as instructed and complete the maker’s security check before wearing it. If a pin or screw resists, stop instead of increasing force or improvising with another tool.

Professional sizing is the safer choice when you cannot confirm the link type, lack the specified tool, encounter resistance, or are unsure how to reassemble the bracelet. Manufacturer advice can be particularly direct: Suunto strongly recommends professional adjustment for the Suunto 9 Peak titanium bracelet because of the risk of damaging its parts, and warns that improper adjustment may affect warranty coverage: Suunto 9 Peak bracelet adjustment.
