Blogger’s built-in Link List gadget does not document a thumbnail field. To show screenshot previews, make a custom list that pairs each destination link with an image: use an HTML/JavaScript gadget for a list in your layout, HTML mode for a single post or page, or theme HTML and CSS for a reusable, highly styled component.
Choose where the screenshot previews should appear

Blogger’s documented Link List data includes a link name and target, but not a screenshot image field. An HTML/JavaScript gadget accepts author-supplied content, so you can build a linked image list yourself. See Blogger’s Layouts Data Tags for the documented fields and widget data.

Make a screenshot preview list with an HTML/JavaScript gadget
- In Blogger, open Layout and select Add a Gadget.
- Choose the HTML/JavaScript gadget. Enter a title if you want one, then put your list markup in its content field.
- For each destination, add an image inside a link. Replace the example image and destination URLs with your own HTTPS URLs:

</ul> - Save the gadget, then use the Layout screen to position it where the list should appear.
- Preview the blog and follow each link to confirm that its image and destination match.
The image can be a screenshot file you have hosted at a stable HTTPS URL. The example uses a made-up example image address; replace it with a real image URL you control or are authorized to use.

- Open the post or page in Blogger’s editor.
- Switch to the editor’s HTML mode.
- Insert the same linked-image structure, with one list item for each site, and replace the example URLs and labels.
- Preview the post or page before publishing. Blogger’s documentation describes HTML editing in the context of managing blog settings; editor labels may change.
This keeps the preview list with that specific content rather than adding it to a shared layout area.

Style previews with CSS
You can style a gadget’s list through your theme’s CSS controls or by editing theme HTML. Blogger documents both theme customization and HTML editing in Change the design of your blog. For example, CSS like this makes each preview a compact card with an image above its label:

Add CSS using the controls available for your theme, or edit the theme HTML if appropriate. Theme structures differ, so preview changes before publishing. Blogger also documents layout sections, widgets, and custom HTML structure in Page elements tags for layouts.

Use HTTPS image URLs and check the published result
Use HTTPS for the screenshot image and other embedded resources. Blogger’s mixed-content guidance explains that HTTP resources in image, script, and related attributes can cause problems, and identifies markup, scripts, and gadgets as possible sources. Check the live preview as well as the editor: an image that loads in one context may still have a broken URL or mixed-content issue on the published blog.

Troubleshoot common preview problems
- The screenshot does not appear: Check that the image URL is correct, publicly accessible, and uses HTTPS. Open the image URL directly to see whether it loads.
- The link works but opens the wrong site: Check the
hrefdestination separately from the image’ssrc; each list item needs its own correct pair. - Images load in the editor but not on the blog: Look for an HTTP image URL or another mixed-content resource and replace it with HTTPS where available.
- The list is hard to maintain or style: Keep the image, label, and destination together in each list item. If the list is used in several places or needs theme-level styling, consider a gadget or theme component instead of repeating post markup.
- A gadget or theme edit causes unexpected behavior: Remove or isolate the added code and check the blog again. Blogger warns that authors who add code or third-party widgets do so at their own risk.
