To show a BharatPe or PhonePe payment QR during a YouTube live stream, retrieve the current QR image from the relevant account, add it as an image overlay in your streaming encoder, and check the live preview on a second device before you start. The documented sources explain encoder overlays and each provider’s QR or UPI capabilities, but they do not establish current app steps for exporting a QR or a YouTube ruling specifically about payment QR overlays.
What you need
- A current receiving QR image for the BharatPe or PhonePe account you want viewers to pay.
- A computer-based streaming encoder that supports image overlays. YouTube identifies encoders as a streaming method commonly used when a broadcast needs overlays or hardware. YouTube’s overview of live streaming also describes live streaming as interaction with an audience through a video feed, chat, and more.
- A second device, such as a phone, to inspect the outgoing preview and confirm that the intended payee and QR are visible.
Do not share or request a viewer’s UPI PIN, one-time password (OTP), or banking credentials. A QR is for initiating a payment; those private authentication details should never be collected in chat or on stream.

Choose the QR for the receiving account

Pick the QR tied to the account where you want to receive funds. The available sources do not establish comparative fees, settlement speed, or special streamer features for either provider.
Add the QR as an encoder overlay
- Get the QR from the provider account. Open the official BharatPe or PhonePe merchant/account app or account and obtain its current receiving QR image. App navigation and export labels can change, and the available provider sources do not document exact steps for generating or downloading the QR, so follow the current instructions shown in your own account. Do not use an old screenshot unless you have confirmed it still points to the intended receiving account.
- Open your encoder’s scene or layout for the stream. Add the QR image using the encoder’s image or overlay source feature. YouTube describes adding a browser source for a break overlay, but that guidance is not a payment-QR procedure; use the image-source controls in your encoder for a static QR. - Place and size it. Keep the QR clear of faces, captions, important on-screen text, and other essential content. Make it large enough to be seen in the stream layout without dominating the video. Check the actual outgoing preview rather than relying only on the encoder canvas.
- Verify before going live. View the outgoing preview on a second device at the size viewers are likely to use. Confirm the QR is unobstructed and that the displayed account is the intended payee. If you can safely verify the QR with your own account, do so before broadcasting; do not ask viewers to test it by sending money.
- Start the YouTube stream and keep the payment information clear. State that payments are optional and identify the intended recipient. Avoid suggesting that YouTube or the payment provider has endorsed the QR display.
What viewers can do if the QR is hard to scan
Some viewers may be watching on the same phone they would use to scan, making an on-screen QR impractical. You can also provide the payment details in a permitted, clearly labeled way, but do not assume a live-chat link is clickable for every viewer: YouTube says links in live chat are clickable on horizontal live streams, while links in the vertical live feed are non-clickable when viewed in the mobile app. YouTube Help on sharing links in live chat

YouTube policy and other ways to earn
YouTube’s external-links policy applies to livestreams and prohibits links that direct viewers to destinations violating its Community Guidelines, including phishing sites. It does not specifically determine whether every payment QR overlay is permitted or approved, so do not present a QR as YouTube-approved. Ensure any associated link leads to a legitimate destination and explain plainly who receives a payment. Depending on eligibility and channel settings, YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as ways to earn from live streams. Troubleshooting
