On a Samsung Galaxy already connected to the Wi‑Fi network, open Settings > Connections > Wi‑Fi, tap the gear beside that network, then tap QR code. Let your guest scan the code and tap the prompt that appears to connect. The code can expose the Wi‑Fi password, so show it only to people you trust.
Display the Wi‑Fi QR code on your Galaxy
- On the Galaxy phone connected to the network you want to share, open Settings.
- Tap Connections, then Wi‑Fi.
- Tap the gear or settings icon beside the connected network.
- Tap QR code. Your phone may ask you to unlock the screen first.
- Show the displayed code to your guest so they can scan it.
Samsung’s Singapore support page says the sharing phone must already be connected to that network. The same core menu path appears in Samsung’s Gulf support instructions.

Scan the code and connect
Have the guest open a camera or QR scanner that can read Wi‑Fi codes and point it at the screen. They should tap the notification or link that appears, then follow the on-screen prompt to join. If no prompt appears, try the phone’s QR scanner or use the manual connection details below.

When the QR code option is missing or does not work
- Check the connected network: The Galaxy sharing the code must be connected to the intended Wi‑Fi. Open that network’s gear/settings page rather than a saved network that is not currently connected.
- Allow for menu differences: Samsung notes that screens and labels vary by device and Android version. If the option is absent, check for a software or model difference; regional instructions may also vary.
- Consider Android and network compatibility: Samsung Germany describes the feature as model-dependent and available on Android Pie (9.0) or later, with WPA/WPA2 PSK and WEP supported; open and EAP networks are listed as unsupported. Samsung Japan also says QR Wi‑Fi connection is available on Android 9 or later. See Samsung Germany’s guidance and Samsung Japan’s guidance.
- Try manual entry: If scanning still fails, give the guest the network name (SSID) and password to enter in the Wi‑Fi settings. Samsung Japan recommends manual entry when QR connection does not work. Samsung’s Gulf instructions also note that an older Android version on the recipient’s phone or router/network restrictions may cause compatibility problems.
Protect the code like a password
Samsung Canada warns that QR codes are not encrypted: anyone who obtains the code can determine the network password. Keep it on screen only for the intended guest; do not post it publicly or forward an image of it broadly. If it has been exposed, changing the Wi‑Fi password in the router settings is a sensible way to limit further access.
