Google’s direct Quick Share-to-AirDrop feature works only on selected Android models, and LG is not on Google’s currently published compatibility list. If your LG phone has Quick Share and its QR option, you can send files to an iPhone through a temporary web download. For an iPhone-to-LG transfer, the documented steps here do not establish a direct Quick Share or AirDrop route, so use a compatible shared cloud folder or a computer intermediary instead.
Which transfer method should you use?
First identify the exact LG phone model and its Android version. Menu names and available sharing features vary between LG generations, and a feature on one model does not establish compatibility on another. Then decide which direction the files need to travel: the documented QR steps below cover sending from Android to Apple devices, not the reverse.

“LG device” can mean a phone, tablet, or another product. The instructions here assume an LG Android phone. If you have an LG tablet or another device, check its own manual and available sharing options rather than assuming the phone steps apply.
For a quick choice, start with the sending direction. If you are sending from an LG phone to an iPhone, look for Quick Share and the QR option; if you are sending from an iPhone to an LG phone, plan on a cloud folder or computer unless you have independently confirmed a compatible method for both exact devices. Direct Quick Share-to-AirDrop is a separate possibility only for Android models on Google’s current compatibility list.

The table is a model-selection guide, not a promise that a menu will look identical on every handset. Google’s supported-device list can change, and older LG manuals describe features tied to particular generations. Confirm the current instructions for the exact model before moving a large batch of files or relying on a method for something time-sensitive.
Can you use AirDrop from an iPhone to an LG phone?
AirDrop is Apple’s nearby-sharing feature, not an app that can be installed on an LG phone. Google has added interoperability between AirDrop and Quick Share on selected Android models, but LG does not appear in the current compatibility list. Do not infer support from the phone’s Android version or from the fact that it has a feature called Quick Share: the handset itself must be supported for the direct AirDrop connection.
Google’s documented direct-sharing instructions describe sending from an Android device: open an item, choose Share, select Quick Share, and choose the nearby iPhone. The iPhone then accepts the incoming AirDrop prompt. Those instructions do not establish that every supported Android model can receive an AirDrop item sent from an iPhone. In particular, they do not establish that an LG phone can do so.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Google’s published compatibility list includes selected models from Google Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, HONOR, and vivo; it does not list LG. The list can change, so check Google’s live list for the exact handset before attempting a direct transfer. A brand or Android-version match alone is not enough.
The practical distinction is that “Quick Share” by itself does not mean “works with AirDrop.” Quick Share is Google’s Android sharing feature; AirDrop is Apple’s. Only selected Android models have the documented direct interoperability. If an LG phone is not listed, repeatedly changing AirDrop visibility or searching the iPhone for an LG device will not make an unsupported direct connection available. Use the QR route if the LG has it, or choose an intermediary.
Send files from an LG phone to an iPhone with a QR code
If your LG phone has Quick Share with the QR option, this is the documented fallback for sharing Android files with an iPhone. It creates a web download rather than establishing an offline connection between the phones. Both devices need internet access; if either uses mobile data, data charges may apply.
- Check that Quick Share and QR sharing are available. On the LG phone, open its sharing options and look for Quick Share. Menu placement and availability vary by model. If Quick Share or “Use QR code” is absent, these instructions do not apply to that handset.
- Select the files on the LG phone. Open the photo, video, document, or file, tap Share, and choose Quick Share. Select the files you intend to send if the interface lets you choose them at this stage.
- Create the QR code. Choose Use QR code. Keep the code visible while the iPhone recipient scans it.
- Scan with the iPhone. Use the iPhone camera or another QR scanner to scan the code, then open the Google Quick Share page in the browser.
- Download the files. Follow the browser page’s prompts to download the shared items. The recipient may need to save downloaded photos or files to the appropriate iPhone location; the exact prompt depends on the file type and iOS version.
Google’s documented limits for this QR route are up to 10 GB per 24 hours, 1,000 files per sharing session, and up to 20 Apple-device recipients at a time. Shared files remain available to download for 24 hours. These are limits for the QR feature, not general limits on every way to share files between phones.

Those limits are useful when deciding how to split a transfer. A large collection may hit the 10 GB total or 1,000-file session cap, even if the individual files are otherwise suitable to share. If you run into a limit, send a smaller batch or start another share. For a group handoff, the documented maximum is 20 Apple-device recipients at a time; it is not a limit for direct AirDrop sharing or for cloud services.
What happens to files in QR sharing?
For this route, Google says the files are end-to-end encrypted, uploaded to Google servers, and made available for download for 24 hours. Because the files are temporarily hosted, QR sharing requires internet access and is not a direct local transfer. If a download is not completed while the files are available, create a new share and scan its QR code again.
That hosting detail matters if you expected the QR code to connect the phones locally. The QR code points the recipient to a browser-based download; the files are temporarily uploaded rather than passed directly from one phone to the other. The stated encryption and expiration period describe this particular Google feature. They do not establish the privacy, retention, or security practices of any cloud folder or other service you might choose instead.
Keep the QR code available to the intended recipient while they scan it, and use the download page opened from that code. Both devices need an internet connection for the documented flow. If the connection is unavailable, QR sharing is not a substitute for an offline transfer. If mobile data is the only connection, consider possible carrier charges before sending a large video or many files.

Use direct Quick Share-to-AirDrop only on a listed Android model
If the LG phone is not on Google’s compatibility list, skip this method and use QR sharing if available. If Google’s current list later includes your exact model, the documented Android-to-iPhone flow is:
- On the iPhone, set AirDrop visibility. Open the iPhone’s AirDrop settings and choose Everyone for 10 minutes. Apple’s AirDrop guidance also requires Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to be available for the nearby-sharing workflow.
- On the Android phone, choose the item to send. Open the photo or file, tap Share, then select Quick Share.
- Choose the nearby iPhone. Select the iPhone shown in Quick Share’s nearby-device list.
- Accept on the iPhone. The recipient must accept the incoming AirDrop prompt. Keep the devices near each other while completing the transfer.
Google’s instructions also note that Samsung users need the Share with Apple devices setting enabled. That note applies to Samsung devices; it is not evidence that an LG phone has an equivalent setting or supports the direct connection.
The iPhone’s visibility setting is temporary: the documented choice is Everyone for 10 minutes. That window is meant for discovery during the transfer, not a permanent change to AirDrop availability. If the iPhone does not appear, confirm that the setting is active, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available, and the Android handset is actually on the supported-model list. The person receiving the item still needs to accept the prompt on the iPhone.

Do not confuse this direct workflow with QR sharing. Direct interoperability is a nearby-device process on selected Android models, while QR sharing opens a web page and requires internet access. If a device is not listed for direct sharing, the QR option may still be available as a separate method, but only if Quick Share offers it on that phone.
What about older LG phones and SmartShare Beam?
Some older LG phones have features with names such as SmartShare Beam, File sharing, or Wireless storage. Their availability and operation are model-specific. LG’s VS987 guide describes SmartShare Beam for sending or receiving files with another LG device or tablet. The V60 guide gives similar model-specific instructions and says to use the same wireless network and activate file sharing on both ends.
Those LG manuals do not document SmartShare Beam as a general way to transfer files to an iPhone. If the iPhone is the recipient, do not assume that a feature described for another LG device or tablet will work with it. Look for Quick Share and its QR option first; if neither is available, use a cloud-folder or computer workflow you have confirmed for both devices.
Use the manual for the exact LG model rather than treating a menu name as a cross-device standard. One phone’s support for SmartShare Beam does not show that a later or older LG model has the same menus, and the presence of file sharing does not prove that an iPhone can receive the transfer. In the cited V60 instructions, the same-network requirement and enabling file sharing on both ends are part of that model-specific setup; do not assume those steps describe every LG device.
Send files from an iPhone to an LG phone
The documented QR workflow starts on Android and provides an Apple device with a web download. It does not give an iPhone a way to create a matching QR share for an LG phone. Likewise, the direct-sharing steps above are Android-to-iPhone instructions, and the cited LG manuals do not establish iPhone compatibility for SmartShare Beam. Therefore, this guidance cannot confirm a direct wireless iPhone-to-LG transfer for a particular LG model.

A shared cloud folder or a computer can act as an intermediary: put the file somewhere both devices can access, then retrieve it on the other device. The details depend on the service, account, storage, and devices involved, so confirm those requirements before relying on a specific setup. No universal cable or adapter recommendation is established for all iPhone and LG combinations.
For this direction, avoid trying to reverse the QR steps: a QR code generated by an LG phone is the Android-to-Apple download route described above, not an iPhone upload method. If you use a shared folder, check that both devices can access the same service and that there is enough available storage for the items. If you use a computer, treat it as a transfer intermediary and confirm the particular connection and import/export steps for the computer and phones you have; there is no single cable or adapter combination established here for every model.

Troubleshoot a failed transfer
The iPhone does not appear in Quick Share
- Confirm that the Android model is on Google’s current compatibility list before trying direct AirDrop interoperability; LG is not listed in the current published list.
- On the iPhone, set AirDrop visibility to Everyone for 10 minutes and check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available.
- If the LG phone is not supported for the direct method, try Quick Share’s Use QR code option instead, provided the LG handset offers it.
Also check that you are using the direct-sharing flow only for the direction Google documents: Android sends and the iPhone accepts. If your goal is to send from the iPhone to LG, the iPhone’s AirDrop screen is not a way to make an unlisted LG model compatible.
The LG phone has no QR option
- Confirm the exact LG model and Android version, then check whether Quick Share is available in its sharing interface.
- Do not substitute SmartShare Beam on the assumption that it supports iPhone. LG’s cited manuals describe model-specific LG-device or tablet sharing.
- If Quick Share with QR is unavailable, use a cloud folder or computer only after confirming that the chosen method works with both devices.
Quick Share menu availability can differ by device, so do not assume that a setup guide for a different Android brand or LG generation will match your screen. If the option is absent, choose a method whose compatibility you can verify rather than treating a similarly named LG feature as interchangeable.
The QR page opens but the files will not download
- Check that the iPhone and LG phone have internet access. The QR route requires internet on both devices.
- Make sure the recipient is using the browser page opened from the scanned code and that the share is still within its 24-hour availability period.
- Check the QR feature’s limits: 10 GB per 24 hours, 1,000 files per session, and up to 20 Apple-device recipients at a time. If necessary, create a new share with fewer or smaller files.
- If mobile data is being used, account for possible carrier data charges.
If the 24-hour download window has passed, the files are no longer available through that share; create a new QR share from the Android phone. If a batch exceeds the documented limit, reduce the batch or divide it into separate shares. These checks apply to Google’s QR route, not to an independent cloud folder or computer transfer.
SmartShare Beam cannot find the other device
- Check the manual for the exact LG model rather than relying on instructions for a different LG generation.
- For the V60 instructions cited here, both ends should be on the same wireless network and file sharing should be enabled on both devices.
- Even when the LG feature is available, its cited instructions do not establish support for an iPhone recipient.
If the other device is an iPhone, finding no compatible recipient is not necessarily a setup mistake: the cited LG guidance does not establish that SmartShare Beam works with iOS. Switch to a method documented for the intended destination rather than repeatedly retrying a feature described for LG devices or tablets.

- LG to iPhone, and Quick Share offers QR: use the QR code and browser download.
- LG to iPhone, but no Quick Share QR option: the documented methods here do not establish a direct route; use a compatible cloud folder or computer intermediary.
- Direct Quick Share-to-AirDrop: use only if Google’s current list includes the exact Android model, and follow the iPhone visibility and acceptance steps.
- iPhone to LG: the documented instructions do not verify a direct transfer route; use an intermediary method confirmed for the devices and service you have.
- Older LG with SmartShare Beam: follow only the manual for that exact model, and do not treat the feature as universal iPhone support.
Before choosing, separate three questions: which phone is sending, whether the LG model has the needed feature, and whether the method is direct or internet-based. That prevents a common mix-up: the QR workflow can help an LG phone send to an iPhone, but it does not establish the reverse direction. Likewise, having Quick Share does not by itself establish direct AirDrop interoperability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I AirDrop files from an iPhone to an LG phone?
Not through the documented direct route for an LG phone. AirDrop is Apple’s sharing feature, and Google’s direct Quick Share-to-AirDrop support is limited to selected Android models. LG is not on Google’s current published compatibility list. Check the live list for an exact model, and use an intermediary if it is not supported.

Can I use Quick Share on every LG phone?
No. The availability of Quick Share and its QR option can vary by device. Check the exact LG model and Android version, then look in its sharing interface. A Quick Share menu alone also does not mean the phone supports direct AirDrop interoperability.
Does Quick Share QR transfer work offline?
No. The QR route requires internet access on both devices. Google says the files are end-to-end encrypted, temporarily uploaded to its servers, and available to download for 24 hours.
What are the Quick Share QR limits for Apple devices?
Google documents a maximum of 10 GB per 24 hours, 1,000 files per sharing session, and up to 20 Apple-device recipients at a time. The files are available for download for 24 hours. These limits apply to the QR route, not every file-sharing method.

Can SmartShare Beam send files to an iPhone?
The cited LG manuals describe SmartShare Beam for sharing with another LG device or tablet, not general iPhone interoperability. Check the manual for your exact LG model, but do not assume the feature can send to an iPhone.
How can I send a file from an iPhone to an LG phone?
The documented QR steps run from Android to an Apple device, and the cited instructions do not establish a direct iPhone-to-LG route. A shared cloud folder or computer can act as an intermediary, but confirm the account, storage, and device requirements for the specific service or setup.
The Bottom Line
For LG-to-iPhone sharing, use Quick Share’s QR option if the exact LG phone offers it. It requires internet, temporarily hosts encrypted files for download, and has limits of 10 GB per 24 hours, 1,000 files per session, and 20 Apple-device recipients at a time. Direct Quick Share-to-AirDrop support is limited to listed Android models, and LG is not on Google’s current list. For iPhone-to-LG sharing or an older LG without QR sharing, use a cloud folder or computer workflow you have confirmed for both devices.
