That automates the launch; it does not make a stream truly nonstop. You still need a working YouTube Live setup, a correctly configured encoder, an available PC and internet connection, and a plan for interruptions.
Before you schedule the encoder

Enable YouTube Live. Confirm the channel can stream. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this before the planned start.

Create or select a stream in YouTube Studio. Get the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. YouTube’s guide to creating a live stream with an encoder explains the connection flow.

Configure and test the encoder manually. Enter the YouTube stream URL and key in the encoder, then start a test stream and confirm YouTube receives the feed. Task Scheduler does not configure YouTube or the encoder for you. Use the encoder’s own instructions for its settings; there is no universal launch command or executable path that applies to every installation.

Treat the stream key as a credential. YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Do not expose it in a public script, screenshot, or log. If it is compromised, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. See Manage live stream settings.
Create the scheduled task
Choose startup or logon
Microsoft documents both startup and logon triggers. Use a startup trigger if the encoder should launch as Windows starts. Choose a logon trigger if it needs an interactive desktop, a user-loaded profile, or other parts of your signed-in session. For an encoder that relies on a visible interface, logon is often the more practical choice, but test with the same account and session conditions you intend to use.
Set the action to launch your tested encoder

Open Task Scheduler and choose Create Task (not a one-off shortcut). Give the task a recognizable name.

On the Triggers tab, add a trigger for At startup or At log on, matching the session requirement above.

On the Actions tab, add Start a program. Point it to the actual encoder executable installed on your PC. Add arguments only if you have tested them with that encoder and configuration; do not assume an example command line will work for your version.

Save the task, then use Task Scheduler’s Run function to test it. Confirm that the encoder starts with the intended profile and that YouTube receives the feed.
Microsoft’s command-line example for a program that runs at startup is schtasks /create /tn MyApp /tr c:appsmyapp.exe /sc onstart. It demonstrates /sc onstart syntax; MyApp and the executable path are examples, not a ready-to-run OBS command. Replace them only with the correct program and tested arguments for your encoder. Microsoft documents schtasks create and the available Task Scheduler triggers.
What Task Scheduler does—and does not—keep running
A trigger starts a program at a chosen event. It does not by itself guarantee recovery if the encoder crashes, the PC loses power, the internet goes down, the input media fails, the stream key becomes invalid, or YouTube interrupts the connection. Microsoft’s trigger documentation describes when tasks run; it does not establish an end-to-end recovery system for a YouTube stream. Test the workflow and decide separately how you will detect and handle failures.

Also plan around YouTube’s archive limit: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not count on a continuous stream longer than that being available as one complete automatic archive. If you need a complete copy, plan stream segments or record separately. The task runs, but the encoder does not connect: Open the encoder manually and verify the stream URL, key, selected configuration, and network connection. Reset a compromised key in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

The task works after signing in but not at boot: The encoder may depend on an interactive session or user profile. Try an at-logon trigger under the intended account and retest.

The encoder opens but does not start the stream: Task Scheduler launches the application, but the encoder may require additional interaction or a supported, tested startup configuration. Check the encoder’s own documentation rather than guessing arguments.

The stream stops after a PC or network interruption: A scheduled launch is not proof of reconnection or crash recovery. Restore power or connectivity, check encoder and YouTube status, and restart or reconfigure as needed.

The archive is incomplete or absent for a very long stream: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; use segments or a separate recording when a complete copy matters.
