What you need before setting it up
- Streamlabs Desktop installed and signed in to the streaming platform you plan to use, with your scenes and alerts prepared.
- Loupedeck software and a supported Loupedeck console. Loupedeck’s setup guide covers Live, Live S, and CT.
- Current versions of both applications. Streamlabs’ guide lists macOS 10.15 or later and Windows 10 or later for Loupedeck software, but check the vendors’ current system requirements before relying on those OS versions.
There are two version notes worth distinguishing: Loupedeck says streaming plugins, including Streamlabs, are preinstalled in software version 5.2 and later; Streamlabs describes the plugin as integrated from version 5.8, specifically referring to newer dynamic folders for scenes and sources. Install and enable the plugin
- Install both applications. Download and install current Loupedeck software for your operating system, then install Streamlabs Desktop. Streamlabs’ walkthrough says to have Streamlabs installed but not running when beginning its installation sequence.
- Check plugin visibility in Loupedeck. Open the Action panel and select Hide and show plugins. If Streamlabs is hidden, use the eye control to show it. In Loupedeck software 5.2 and later, the plugin is documented as preinstalled, so enabling its visibility may be all that is needed.
- Open Streamlabs Desktop. Leave it running in the background while using Loupedeck. This is necessary for the newer dynamic scene and source folders to synchronize with the app.

Assign Streamlabs controls to buttons and dials
- In Loupedeck’s Action panel, find the Streamlabs actions or the relevant dynamic folder, such as scenes or sources.
- Drag an action or action type from the panel onto the Loupedeck button or dial where you want it. Loupedeck’s setup guide describes this drag-and-drop assignment.
- Configure any extra settings the selected action requires. For touch buttons, set an icon, color, or label if that makes the control easier to identify.
- Save your configuration, then check the assigned controls against the active Streamlabs scene collection before using them on stream.
A practical layout might place scene changes together on a workspace or touch page and put audio controls or streaming and recording toggles where they are easy to reach. These are organizational choices, not required plugin settings. [Loupedeck setup guide] [Streamlabs integration guide]

Fix connection and scene problems
| Symptom | What to check or do |

| Yellow connection dot, an older setup’s red dot, or “Streamlabs is not running” | Open Streamlabs Desktop and make sure it stays running. If Loupedeck still shows disconnected, confirm both applications are current and restart Loupedeck. |
| “Couldn’t connect to Streamlabs Desktop” | Close all streaming apps and Loupedeck. Stop Loupedeck from its system-tray menu, open Streamlabs Desktop, then launch Loupedeck again. Loupedeck says OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop cannot run simultaneously in this setup because they use the same process underneath. |
| Scene buttons appear offline | Check that the intended scene collection is active in Streamlabs. Scenes from inactive collections or overlays can appear offline; switch to the collection containing the scenes you want. |
