For the US Ninja Luxe Café Pro (model ES701), the simplest way to get your first espresso is to follow the machine’s first-use prompts, accept Barista Assist’s grind recommendation for your beans, and taste the result before changing anything. The Pro has a built-in grinder with 25 settings and doses by weight, but there is no single grind number, dose, ratio, or shot time that applies to every bean and setup.
1. Confirm the model and check the box
Ninja identifies the US Luxe Café Pro as model ES701. Check the model label and the guide supplied with your machine rather than assuming that every Luxe Café model has the same parts or controls. Regional packages and production runs may differ.

Ninja’s US product listing names these included items:
- Portafilter and single, double, and Luxe baskets
- XL milk jug
- Cleaning brush, cleaning disc, cleaning tablets, and descaling powder

Compare the contents with your local-market product listing and the leaflet in the box. Ninja also lists espresso, drip coffee, cold brew, and separate hot-water functions for the ES701. Ninja’s US ES701 product page gives the product details; use the guide for your specific machine for handling and basket instructions.

Fit the removable parts, fill and seat the reservoir, plug in the machine, and follow the display’s first-use prompts. For priming, water-hardness selection, and the exact control sequence, use the ES701 manual for your region. The steps are model-specific, so don’t substitute a sequence from another Luxe Café machine or a video.
If you have the hard-water test kit, use it as directed in your package and enter any result only when prompted by the machine or guide. The manufacturer’s quick-start material is available through Ninja support; consult the current manual for exact button presses and water setup.

4. Prepare the portafilter and pull the first shot
Follow the guide’s instructions for fitting the basket and handling the portafilter. Keep the rim and locking area clear of loose grounds, then let the machine complete its prompted grinding, dosing, and tamping workflow. Lock the portafilter into the brew position as shown in the guide and start the selected espresso cycle.
Do not add a tamp-pressure target or a fixed extraction time from an unrelated recipe. Ninja’s listing confirms the Pro’s integrated tamper and weight-based dosing, but the available official material does not establish one universal shot recipe.

5. Taste the espresso and adjust one thing at a time
Taste the shot before changing settings. If it seems weak, sharp, bitter, or unusually slow, check the ES701 troubleshooting guidance and make one adjustment, then pull another shot and compare. Changing several controls at once makes it harder to tell what helped. Let Barista Assist update its recommendation as you work; a setting that suits one bean may not suit another.

If you change beans or need to reset a recommendation, use the ES701 guide rather than instructions for another Luxe Café model. An official Ninja FAQ result also addresses the control-panel “Rinse” message; follow the explanation in the current guide or support materials for your machine.

If the espresso flows slowly or in a small amount
Ninja’s owner-guide search result recommends rinsing the portafilter under hot water before grinding when preheating is needed to address slow or small flow. Treat this as a troubleshooting step, not a mandatory step for every first shot. Check the manual for other model-specific causes and remedies before changing multiple settings.
