Before you start: check your model and phone
Confirm the glasses’ model and generation, your phone’s operating system, the companion app for your country, and whether the features you want are available in your region. Compatibility can depend on the exact phone, not just its operating-system version. For another brand, follow its own app instructions and confirm compatibility before granting permissions.

Ray-Ban Meta requirements
Ray-Ban’s official FAQ lists a smartphone, the Meta AI app, wireless internet access, a valid Meta account, and a USB-C charging plug for charging from an outlet. It lists Android 10 or later with location services enabled, or iOS 14.4 or later, and links to a supported-phone list. Treat these as minimum requirements, not a guarantee that every phone will work; check the list for your exact device. The app name and availability may differ by market or change over time, and Ray-Ban says AI features can vary by country.
Pair the glasses with your phone
For Ray-Ban Meta, the case and glasses can enter pairing mode in different ways. Follow the on-screen instructions in the current app for your model; procedures can vary with the device and software.

- Charge the glasses in their case, install the Meta AI app, and sign in to your Meta account. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- For first use, remove the plastic tab between the case and glasses, dock the glasses again, and wait for the case LED to flash blue. For manual case pairing, place the glasses in the case and hold the case button for at least five seconds, until the blue light flashes.
- One documented frame procedure is to fold both arms and hold the capture button for 12 seconds, until the inside LED flashes blue. The glasses’ notification LED should be solid green when they are on.
- Continue in the Meta AI app and follow its prompts to complete pairing. If iOS asks to join a Wi-Fi network during a transfer, accept the request.
For normal app use, the glasses use your phone’s Wi-Fi network. Importing captures and installing firmware updates instead use a temporary Wi-Fi connection directly between the phone and glasses.
Choose which notifications, calls, and messages to hear
Pairing alone does not necessarily enable announcements. Ray-Ban Meta’s FAQ says incoming calls and messages from the phone, Messenger, and WhatsApp can be announced. With voice controls enabled, the glasses can announce a caller or sender and read messages aloud.

- In the Meta AI app, open Settings > Communication, or select your device and then Communication.
- Connect the provider you want to use, then enable only the call announcements, message announcements, or readout options you want.
- Grant the phone and app the permissions requested during setup. If you decline a permission, the related feature may not work; you can review permissions in your phone’s settings.
Avoid duplicate call announcements on iPhone
On iPhone, Siri’s call announcements and the glasses’ announcements can both play. If you hear duplicates, disable one set of announcements. Ray-Ban also notes that Messenger and WhatsApp calls may sometimes be announced as iPhone calls, in which case you may need to disable the relevant iPhone call announcement. These details apply to this model and platform, not all smart glasses.

Set up media capture, imports, and audio playback
Import photos and videos
Ray-Ban Meta can capture photos and video, which you can import through the Meta AI app. Imports use the glasses’ temporary Wi-Fi connection. In the app, select a photo or video and use the share control to save it to your phone or share it where supported.

Connect a music service
For the documented Amazon Music integration, open settings in the Meta AI app, choose Amazon Music, and connect your account. Ray-Ban’s FAQ says a Prime subscription is required to access Amazon Music’s library. This is an optional audio service, not a prerequisite for pairing or basic glasses setup.
Use audio controls
For the documented Ray-Ban Meta touchpad behavior, swipe forward to raise volume and swipe back to lower it; tap to pause or play. The FAQ describes additional playback controls for Amazon Music. Check the app for the controls and services supported by your glasses’ generation and software version.

Fix common connection and call problems
Glasses will not pair or stay connected
- Move closer to your phone and keep it in front of you or in a front pocket.
- Disconnect other Bluetooth devices, then check that the glasses are charged, powered on, and Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
- Check that the glasses are not still paired to another phone. Quit and reopen the companion app.
- If those checks do not help, unpair the glasses and pair them again through the app.
These steps follow Ray-Ban’s Bluetooth and pairing troubleshooting guidance. For another brand, use that manufacturer’s recovery steps.

For Ray-Ban Meta, Ray-Ban suggests turning on phone Wi-Fi and turning off VPN and hotspot when an Android video call connects poorly. Its support notes also describe a Pixel/Android 14 issue when sharing the glasses’ view on a call, with locking the phone suggested as a workaround. These notes are specific to the conditions described; check the current FAQ if your phone or software differs.

Charging and water limits
Ray-Ban says the glasses charge when docked in their charging case; the case charges through USB-C. The glasses are rated IPX4 for light rain, not submersion or extended liquid exposure. What to compare if you are choosing among smart glasses
Setup convenience depends on more than Bluetooth pairing. Check each product’s official documentation for:
- Supported phone models and operating-system versions.
- Supported calling and messaging apps, and separate controls for notifications, announcements, and readout.
- Connected media services, playback controls, and how captures transfer to the phone.
- Regional feature availability and the permissions the app requests.
- Charging method and included charging accessories.
