How to Set Up Reactive Overlays in Streamlabs Desktop

Install a reactive overlay from Streamlabs’ Overlay Library, arrange its sources in the new scene collection, and run a supported game in Streamlabs Desktop.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To set up a reactive overlay, install one from Streamlabs’ Overlay Library, open the new scene collection, position its sources, then launch a supported game in Streamlabs Desktop. Reactive overlays are currently described by Streamlabs as a Windows feature powered by Streamlabs Vision; supported games and interface details can change.

Before you install a reactive overlay

  • Use Streamlabs Desktop on Windows. Streamlabs’ guide describes Reactive Overlays as Windows-only.
  • Have a game supported by Streamlabs running through Streamlabs Desktop. The overlay responds to recognized in-game events; support is title-specific.
  • Check Streamlabs’ current Reactive Overlays guide for the latest supported-game list and availability. The guide was last updated September 28, 2026.

Streamlabs has not established in the reviewed setup material whether Reactive Overlays require Ultra or are available to Starter users. Check the current product terms in your account rather than assuming a subscription requirement.

Install and arrange the overlay

  1. Open the Overlay Library. In Streamlabs Desktop, select Overlay Library. Streamlabs also documents opening the web Overlay Library and searching for “Reactive Overlays.”
  2. Choose a design and select Install. Some designs can be previewed with reactions such as eliminations, death, and victory before installation.
  3. Open the new scene collection. Streamlabs adds the overlay to a new scene collection. Select that collection in Desktop and check its scenes and sources.
  4. Fit the sources to your layout. Resize and move the overlay sources in the editor so they sit where you want them in the stream. Check the result against your game capture and other on-screen elements.
  5. Run a supported game in Streamlabs. Launch the game, then go live when you are ready. The overlay should react when Streamlabs recognizes an in-game event.

Change a reactive counter

To adjust a Kills, Wins, or Deaths counter, use the Desktop Editor:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Right-click the relevant counter or source.
  2. Select Edit Reactive Data.
  3. Change the number, save, and close the editor.

Check game support

Streamlabs’ guide lists titles including Apex Legends, Arc Raiders, Battlefield 6, Black Ops 6 and 7, Counter-Strike 2, Dead by Daylight, Deadlock, Dota 2, EA Sports FC 26, Enshrouded, F1 25, Fortnite, Forza Horizon 6, League of Legends, Marathon, Marvel Rivals, Minecraft, NBA 2K26, Overwatch 2, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, Valorant, War Thunder, and Warzone, followed by “and more gaming titles coming soon.” This list can change, so confirm that your specific game is currently supported in the official guide before troubleshooting the overlay.

Using a Streamlabs overlay in OBS

Streamlabs’ general overlay documentation describes two OBS routes: install the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS and install overlays through its menu, or import a Streamlabs scene collection into OBS. See the Streamlabs OBS overlay guide for those steps. The Reactive Overlays guide’s main workflow is for Streamlabs Desktop, so do not assume every reactive feature behaves identically in every OBS configuration.
