Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo run a 24/7 rain-sounds stream from OBS over JioFiber, build a simple scene with rights-cleared rain audio and a still or looping visual, connect OBS to YouTube Live with the server URL and private stream key, then choose an output bitrate your connection can sustain steadily. Test the stream before leaving it unattended: a JioFiber plan’s advertised speed does not guarantee continuous upload or uninterrupted service.
Before you start: check the channel, connection and content
- YouTube access: For the example below, your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s encoder workflow provides a server URL and stream key in Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a scene, publish it or share it. See YouTube’s live-streaming access guidance.
- Stable upload: Measure upload speed at the computer and at the time you expect to stream. Repeat the test, ideally when other household devices are active. A speed test is a snapshot, not proof of sustained stability; leave headroom for normal household use.
- Rights-cleared media: Use rain audio and visuals you created or have permission to use for worldwide live streaming and any archive. YouTube makes the provider responsible for necessary rights, including music rights. A label such as “no copyright” is not, by itself, evidence of permission. See YouTube’s Terms of Service.
- Computer and power: The computer running OBS must stay on and connected. A UPS may bridge a brief local power interruption if sized for the computer and router load, but cannot maintain service through an upstream network outage.
Build a simple rain-sounds scene in OBS
- Add the visual: In OBS, create a scene and add an Image source for a still rain image, or a Media Source for a looping video. For a Media Source, enable looping. Keep the visual simple; a static image uses less computer processing than an animated scene.
- Add the audio: Add a Media Source with your cleared rain recording and enable looping if it is a finite file. Alternatively, use an audio input or another source you control. Watch the OBS audio meter while it plays: the meter should move without regularly reaching the red clipping area.
- Check continuity: Preview the scene long enough to confirm the audio does not stop at the end of the file, the visual behaves as intended, and there are no unexpected silence gaps. If the recording contains a natural fade or silence at its end, edit or replace it before streaming.
- Keep the stream key private: Do not add it to a scene, title, description or public screenshot. If it is exposed, replace it through YouTube Live Control Room before going live again.
Choose OBS output settings from measured upload
YouTube recommends RTMP or RTMPS ingest, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; its guidance says not to exceed four seconds. For H.264, YouTube lists 6 Mbps for 720p at 60 frames per second and 4 Mbps for the 240p–720p at 30 frames per second row. These are YouTube recommendations, not guaranteed settings for your JioFiber line. Choose a bitrate that remains stable in your own tests and leaves capacity for household use.

| Setting | Practical choice for this stream | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Service and server | YouTube Live; use the server URL shown in Live Control Room | YouTube’s encoder workflow supplies the destination details; do not guess a server address. |
| Protocol | RTMP or RTMPS | Both are listed in YouTube’s encoder guidance. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube recommends constant bitrate for the listed encoder settings. |
| Video codec | H.264 is a straightforward choice for broad encoder compatibility | YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1 options; exact availability depends on your encoder and workflow. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Resolution and frame rate | Start with a modest profile, such as 720p30, if your visual is simple | Use only a profile your computer can encode reliably. YouTube’s H.264 bitrate recommendation for the 240p–720p30 row is 4 Mbps; the 720p60 recommendation is 6 Mbps. |
| Audio | AAC stereo at 128 kbps | YouTube’s advanced audio recommendation specifies stereo AAC at 128 kbps. It also lists AAC or MP3 audio options. |
In OBS, open Settings > Output and choose the streaming encoder settings, then open Settings > Video to set the output resolution and frame rate. The exact encoder labels can vary by OBS version and selected encoder. Do not copy a bitrate just because it appears in a platform recommendation: OBS says to base bitrate on stable upload capacity and the service’s limits. Its troubleshooting article gives 75% of total upload as an example starting point, not a universal guarantee. See OBS connection troubleshooting and YouTube’s encoder settings.
Connect OBS to YouTube and go live
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Select the encoder workflow and copy the server URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service if available, and paste the stream key. If using a custom server option, enter the server URL and key provided by YouTube. Keep the key private.
- Return to the OBS scene and confirm the rain audio and visual are correct. If you want a local copy, set a recording location and check available disk space before starting.
- Click Start Streaming in OBS. Check YouTube Live Control Room for the incoming preview and stream health before treating the broadcast as live and ready to leave.
- Run a test with the actual scene. Listen for uninterrupted, non-clipping audio; check that the visual is moving if intended; and watch OBS for rising dropped frames or intermittent disconnections. Do not leave the stream unattended until it remains stable under the conditions you expect.
Can JioFiber support a continuous livestream?
Jio describes JioFiber as a broadband service for uses that include streaming, but that general description is not a service-level promise for a continuously running encoder upload. Jio’s plan FAQ says its unlimited plans are for home use and that RJIL may discontinue data service for “misuse, fraudulent, unauthorised or commercial use.” The FAQ does not establish whether a particular creator’s continuous or monetized stream is considered commercial use, nor does it confirm sustained upload performance for your line. Check the current terms for your specific plan and ask Jio about your intended use rather than assuming “unlimited” settles the question. See JioFiber plan FAQ and JioFiber service information.

Keep the stream and archive from failing silently
Monitor OBS and YouTube
Check OBS and Live Control Room periodically. OBS identifies dropped frames and intermittent disconnections as signs of a network-path problem or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Lowering bitrate and troubleshooting the connection are among its suggested responses. A restart may restore a dropped stream, but it creates an interruption; do not assume OBS or YouTube will recover every failure automatically.
Plan for power and internet interruptions
- Use wired Ethernet if practical, and avoid large uploads or downloads on the same connection while testing.
- Keep the computer’s sleep settings from shutting down the machine or network adapter during the broadcast; confirm the change does not compromise cooling or safe operation.
- A UPS can support the computer and router through a short local power cut, depending on capacity and load. It cannot prevent JioFiber or upstream network outages.
- If continuous availability is essential, decide in advance how you will notice a disconnection and restart the stream. A single OBS computer on one home connection has no independent backup path.
Record locally if you need a complete copy
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as backup. If the archive matters, record in OBS and verify the file afterward; alternatively, plan periodic stream restarts, knowing each restart causes a brief interruption. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube shows no incoming signal | Wrong stream key or server details; stream not started in OBS | Check Live Control Room’s encoder details, paste the current key into OBS, and click Start Streaming. If the key was exposed, replace it. |
| OBS reports dropped frames or disconnects | Unstable network path, upload congestion or bitrate beyond sustainable capacity | Stop competing uploads, test the wired connection, lower bitrate, and run another test. Do not raise bitrate based only on a headline speed-test result. |
| Rain audio is silent or stops | Source not playing, wrong audio device, finite file not looped, or source ended | Check the OBS audio meter and source properties, enable looping for the Media Source, and preview past the file’s end before restarting. |
| Audio distorts or clips | Source level is too high | Lower the source volume in OBS and listen to a test recording or preview to confirm clean playback. |
| Stream is interrupted after a copyright match | Third-party audio or video detected by YouTube | Use original media or rights explicitly covering the intended live use and archive. A license may still require the rights owner to allowlist your channel. YouTube says a detected match can trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. |
| YouTube has no full archive | The stream exceeded 12 hours or archiving otherwise failed | Keep a local OBS recording for a complete copy; if relying on YouTube’s archive, schedule shorter sessions and account for the interruption at each restart. |
