You can send a prerecorded Marathi playlist to YouTube Live with FFmpeg by creating a concat playlist, copying the ingest URL and stream key from YouTube Studio, and running an FFmpeg command that produces a compatible video and audio stream. The language of the tracks does not change the setup; the important details are compatible media, correct stream mapping, and settings that match your chosen YouTube stream.
This walkthrough assumes your media files are accessible on the computer running FFmpeg, FFmpeg is installed, and you can create a YouTube Live stream and retrieve its ingest URL and stream key. The example is a starting point, not a tested command for every FFmpeg build or media collection.

Prepare the Marathi playlist
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer reads a text file and joins the listed inputs sequentially. For reliable stream-copy concatenation, the files should have compatible streams, including codecs and time bases. Audio files from different sources may not meet that condition, so inspect them before relying on the simplest workflow.

Save a UTF-8 text file named playlist.ffconcat. Put the header at the very start of the file, with no blank line before it:

If a filename contains an apostrophe or other special character, quote or escape it according to FFmpeg’s concat demuxer syntax. Incorrect paths prevent the corresponding track from loading. Incorrect or estimated durations can cause timestamp gaps.
Check the files before streaming
Use ffprobe to inspect the media streams, codecs, sample rates, channel layouts, and durations. The concat demuxer is most predictable when the inputs have matching stream layouts and compatible timing. If the playlist mixes incompatible formats, normalize the files first or use a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes them; a basic concat command is not a universal solution for arbitrary media mixes.
For an audio-only playlist, the example below adds a still image as the video track. Choose an actual image and a frame size and frame rate suited to your planned stream. For a playlist of video files, use the playlist’s video and audio streams instead of the still image, and inspect the input stream indexes before mapping them.

Get the YouTube Live ingest URL and key
- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, open the Stream tab and create a stream or choose an appropriate existing one.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. YouTube’s encoder instructions say: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.”
Prefer the RTMPS URL displayed in Live Control Room when your FFmpeg build supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL and recommends it. Do not assume one ingest address or port applies to every stream; use the exact destination shown for yours. Treat the stream key as a password: do not put a real key in published material, screenshots, public repositories, or shell-history examples.
Choose the output settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of four seconds. Its H.264 recommendations include 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 720p60, 14 Mbps for 1080p30, and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection can sustain those rates. Choose resolution and frame rate for the actual content and reliable upload capacity, then check YouTube’s live settings because guidance can change.
For stereo audio, YouTube’s advanced settings specify 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. Its 5.1 settings specify 48 kHz and 384 Kbps; 5.1 audio over RTMP/RTMPS is supported only with AAC. The command below uses stereo AAC.

Run an audio-playlist command
This illustrative command loops an audio concat playlist under a still image, encodes H.264 and AAC, and sends the result to an RTMPS destination. Replace the placeholder destination with the exact URL/key format YouTube provides. Never publish a working key.

Adjust them to your stream target, YouTube’s current guidance, and sustained upload capacity. libx264 must be available in your FFmpeg build. Depending on your system, command-line arguments can be visible in shell history or process listings; use a protected configuration or secret-handling method appropriate to your environment.
For a video playlist
Omit the still-image input and map the playlist’s intended video and audio streams. Check stream indexes with ffprobe and use explicit -map options. If inputs are already compatible, stream copy may reduce CPU load, but it leaves their encoding untouched and may not meet the ingest’s target. If the playlist mixes incompatible sources or needs a consistent output, use a filter/re-encode workflow instead.

Start the feed and verify it
- Run FFmpeg and watch its output for missing-file errors, encoder failures, reconnects, or output that stops advancing.
- Check Live Control Room for an incoming preview and stream-health messages. Confirm the still image or video appears, the audio is audible, and transitions between tracks behave as intended.
- For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview and then click Go live in Live Control Room.
- Test under conditions similar to the intended broadcast and monitor stream health. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this is not a promise that an indefinitely running stream will remain uninterrupted or be archived without limit.
Stopping FFmpeg stops the feed it sends to YouTube. What happens to the YouTube broadcast itself depends on the stream setup and the actions taken in Live Control Room.
Troubleshoot common problems
- No preview in Live Control Room: Check the copied server URL, stream key, protocol, outbound network access, and FFmpeg’s output log. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- No sound: Confirm that the playlist input actually contains audio, inspect it with
ffprobe, and check that-mappoints to the right audio stream. For a typical RTMP/RTMPS setup, encode audio as AAC or MP3. - A track is missing, or playback stalls or has a gap: Check every path, ensure the concat header is the first line, and verify input compatibility and durations. Normalize mismatched files or use a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes.
- Buffering or ingest warnings: Lower the resolution or bitrate to a level supported by YouTube guidance and the connection’s reliable upload rate. A speed-test result does not guarantee sustained throughput; test and monitor the actual feed.
- RTMPS or SSL connection error: Verify that you copied the RTMPS destination rather than an RTMP one, and use the port included in the supplied URL. YouTube’s RTMPS guidance discusses port 443 where applicable; do not substitute a port without checking the destination YouTube provided.
- Encoder name or option is rejected: FFmpeg features depend on how the local build was compiled. Confirm that the build includes
libx264and supports the options used, or adapt the command to an available encoder.

Copyright and YouTube channel rules
Having a file on your computer does not by itself establish that you have the rights to stream it. Before broadcasting Marathi music, devotional recordings, or other media, confirm that you have permission for the recording and the underlying composition where required. Copyright claims or restrictions can affect a live stream. Review YouTube’s policies and the rights applicable to your content before going live; a technical setup cannot make unlicensed media safe to broadcast.
Live eligibility, archive behavior, and enforcement can depend on the channel and YouTube’s current rules. Check the current requirements in YouTube Studio rather than assuming that successful ingest guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast or an available archive.
