To get Nintendo DS games showing correctly on both Anbernic RG DS displays, identify whether the handheld is running Android or Linux, prepare storage without erasing files you need, then configure DraStic’s screen layout and test both panels and touch input in a game. The RG DS has two 4-inch, 640×480 touchscreens, but the exact menus and available emulators can vary by operating system and firmware.
1. Check which operating system and firmware your RG DS uses
The RG DS is sold with Android 14/Linux support. ANBERNIC lists separate firmware for the two systems, including Android RG DS V1.18 and Linux RGDS-LINUX-V1.0-260513. Before changing anything, check the installed operating system and firmware version in the device’s settings or system information. See ANBERNIC’s RG DS product and update information and use the update instructions for your exact operating system and device variant.

You do not need to update simply to begin configuring a game. The Android V1.18 changelog says it adds Google Mobile Services and changes how the frontend recognizes game-image paths, including gamelist and image-folder/file-name handling. Those notes do not establish that every setup needs the update. Avoid installing a build intended for the other operating system.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Prepare storage for your games and files
ANBERNIC specifies TF-card expansion up to 2TB. That is the manufacturer’s maximum supported capacity, not a recommended purchase size for every player. An independent RG DS setup guide suggests 128GB or 256GB cards and a card reader; treat those as practical suggestions, not device requirements. Choose capacity based on the files you are entitled to use and store.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Back up before formatting
If you plan to format a card, copy off anything you want to keep first: formatting deletes the card’s existing data. Google’s general Android guidance distinguishes portable storage, which can hold files and move between devices, from internal or adopted storage, which can also hold apps but is not transferable in the same way. The exact card workflow and menus on an RG DS may vary by firmware, so do not assume Google’s generic instructions are a device-specific walkthrough.
For setup references, see Joey’s Retro Handhelds’ RG DS setup guide and Google’s Android storage guidance. Use game files and system files you have the right to use; support for a file format does not grant permission to download copyrighted games or BIOS files.

3. Configure DraStic to use both screens
Open DraStic and find its display or layout settings. The goal is to map the emulated DS top screen to the RG DS’s upper physical panel and the emulated touch screen to its lower panel. DraStic’s settings guide describes choosing the size of each screen and then selecting a layout; for a DS-like arrangement, it outlines choosing “original size” for both screens and “original layout with gap.” Whether that looks best depends on readability and the available display area.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open DraStic’s display/layout settings. Menu labels and navigation can differ by version, so follow the current emulator and RG DS-specific guidance rather than relying on a universal button sequence.
- Choose the screen size and arrangement. Try original-size screens with the original layout and gap if you want the screens arranged like a DS. Adjust if text is too small or the panels do not align as expected.
- Load a game that uses both displays. Confirm that the game’s top screen appears on the upper RG DS display and its touch screen on the lower display.
- Test lower-screen touch input. Tap a control or menu item in the game to verify that touch is registering on the intended panel.
For layout details, consult the DraStic settings guide and the RG DS-specific dual-screen settings guide.

4. Troubleshoot a screen that appears on both panels
If the same emulated screen appears on both physical displays, start by reopening DraStic’s display and layout settings and checking the screen arrangement. Then consult current instructions for your RG DS operating system and DraStic version. A community post records this symptom—“Can’t get drastic to show both emulated screens on both screens of the RG DS”—but it does not establish one universal fix or a reliable exact sequence for every setup.
If the menu options do not match a guide, check the emulator version and the handheld’s operating system before changing more settings. The stock frontend, emulator availability, and menu layout can vary across OS and firmware builds.

5. Use the launcher for other systems
ANBERNIC advertises support for NDS and numerous other retro-system formats, along with a frontend and customizable settings. The available emulators and their controls depend on the installed OS and firmware. A general RG DS starter walkthrough covers the stock launcher, DraStic, RetroArch, other emulators, and hotkeys; use it as a walkthrough, while relying on ANBERNIC’s page for official device and firmware information.
