How to Set Up Donations on Twitch

To accept personal tips on Twitch, set up an external tipping page with a service such as Streamlabs or StreamElements, connect a payment method in that service, then share the page link in a Twitch channel panel or chat command. For money intended for charity, use Twitch’s Charity tool or another option that sends contributions directly to the charity; a tip paid to you and donated later is not a charitable donation.

Choose the right kind of support

First decide whether viewers are supporting you personally or contributing to a charity. Personal tips go through a third-party tipping page and payment provider; they do not necessarily pass through Twitch. Charity fundraising is a separate flow. Twitch says money given to a streamer who later donates it is not considered a charitable donation and is not tax deductible. 1. Choose a tipping service

Streamlabs documents a tipping-page setup, and StreamElements documents a tipping page that can be linked through a Twitch chat command. These are examples rather than a complete comparison of providers. Their supported payment methods, regional availability, fees, chargeback handling, and privacy terms can change, so review the current terms before choosing.

2. Connect a payment method

For Streamlabs, open the Tipping area in its dashboard, select Tip Methods, choose a payment processor, and follow the connection steps. The resulting tipping page has a URL you can share. Interface labels may change; use Streamlabs’ current tipping setup guide if the path differs.

3. Review the page before sharing

Streamlabs documents settings including display currency, minimum and suggested amounts, a page message, and banner customization. These are Streamlabs-specific examples; do not assume another service offers the same controls. Check the public page yourself so its wording and options match what you intend viewers to see.

4. Put the link on your Twitch channel

In Twitch, open your channel’s About area and enable panel editing. Add a text or image panel and place the tipping-page URL in it. Streamlabs’ Twitch instructions describe adding the page link to a channel panel; its newer guide describes adding the Tip Page URL to an image panel. 5. Optionally add a chat command

StreamElements says its !tip command works on Twitch and returns a link to your tipping page after you configure the page under Revenue → Tipping Settings. Confirm the command is enabled and test it in chat before telling viewers to use it. See StreamElements’ chatbot-command documentation.

6. Check what viewers can identify

Streamlabs advises using a PayPal Business account rather than a personal one to help keep your real name and personal information hidden from viewers. That is vendor guidance, not a guarantee of anonymity. Review your processor’s account settings, payment page, and receipts to see what information may appear to the payer.

Set up a charitable fundraiser separately

Twitch describes its Charity tool for Affiliates and Partners. From the Creator Dashboard, open Charity, choose an eligible charity, and create a fundraiser. Twitch says funds raised, excluding payment processing fees, are donated according to PayPal Giving Fund policies. Eligibility and charity availability should be confirmed in your dashboard. If you are not eligible for Twitch’s tool, choose a platform that sends contributions directly to the charity and verify how it handles receipts, fees, and donor information. Do not label payments to your own tipping page as charitable contributions.

Keep Twitch payouts distinct from tips

Twitch monetization is separate from third-party tipping. Twitch’s monetization overview says non-Affiliate and non-Partner streamers are not eligible for Twitch payouts under that overview; this does not establish the terms of an external tip service. For Affiliate onboarding, Twitch lists direct deposit/ACH, check, wire transfer, PayPal, and holding payouts, with availability varying by region. Its guide gives a $50 minimum balance for most payout methods and $100 for wire transfers. Those figures concern Twitch Affiliate payouts, not the minimums or thresholds of a tipping provider.
