CameraFi Live can send a study-room broadcast to YouTube from a phone, but the available guidance does not establish that a phone can run unattended without interruption for 24 hours. Enable YouTube Live ahead of time, set up and test the CameraFi broadcast on the network you plan to use, and plan shorter sessions if you need YouTube’s documented automatic archive behavior: encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
What you need before setting up CameraFi Live
CameraFi’s setup guide, dated July 11, 2025, lists an Android smartphone or iPhone, CameraFi Live, a YouTube account and channel, and YouTube Live enabled on that channel. Account verification is required before broadcasting. YouTube says first-time Live activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned start and confirm it is available in YouTube Live Control Room. Set up a YouTube broadcast in CameraFi Live
CameraFi’s published guide describes the flow below. App labels and eligibility can change, so treat these as the guide’s sequence rather than guaranteed current button names; check the options shown in your app and YouTube Live Control Room.

- Enable YouTube Live first. Verify that the channel is eligible and Live is active before your planned broadcast. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Open CameraFi Live and sign in. Log in to the app, select YouTube as the destination, and sign in to the YouTube account associated with the channel.
- Prepare the room view. Position the phone so the study space is framed as intended. If you use a tripod or clamp, check that it fits the phone and holds the required height and angle.
- Enter the stream details. From the camera screen, add the broadcast details such as its title and privacy setting. Choose the stream type offered by the app.
- Create the stream and follow the YouTube flow. CameraFi’s guide describes both a “Go Live Now” path and an Event path. Follow the applicable flow presented by the app and YouTube, then confirm the broadcast is visible as intended.
- Run a preflight test. Test on the actual internet connection and in conditions similar to the planned stream. Check the picture, sound, upload stability and YouTube stream health before relying on the setup.
CameraFi’s guide covers creating a YouTube broadcast, not a guaranteed all-day unattended operating procedure. Do not assume that creating the stream alone proves the phone will remain connected or recover from a dropped connection.
Choose quality around upload bandwidth
Use upload speed—not download speed—to decide whether the connection can support your stream. YouTube says the total stream bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Measure upload speed on the same connection you will stream over, at a representative time, and account for other people or devices sharing it. Choose a quality whose bitrate leaves that recommended margin rather than setting the stream to the highest option the phone offers. The reviewed CameraFi guide does not establish which bitrate or resolution controls appear in every app version, so use the controls actually available on your device.

YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast, monitoring stream health and reviewing warnings while live. A quiet room test may not reveal issues that appear when the room becomes active or the network is busy. YouTube encoder settings

Keep encoder recommendations in context
YouTube’s encoder guidance specifies H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a recommended two-second keyframe interval for applicable encoder workflows, and RTMPS for secure transport in encoder workflows. These are YouTube recommendations; they are not a promise that CameraFi exposes each setting or uses the same controls as a desktop encoder. Follow CameraFi’s available options rather than searching for a setting the app may not provide.
What “24/7” means for a phone stream
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not the same as saying a single 24-hour stream will be archived in full. If preserving a replay matters, plan around shorter sessions and verify YouTube’s current behavior before relying on an archive from a longer broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance

The available documentation does not establish CameraFi Live’s unattended runtime or automatic reconnect behavior, or a particular phone’s thermal, charging or continuous-use limits. Those depend on the handset, app version, power arrangement and conditions. Test your exact setup for a representative period; do not describe it as proven 24/7 operation based solely on the setup flow.

Keep the study-room stream eligible and useful
- Use content you have rights to stream. A study-room ambience, music track or other material is not automatically safe to broadcast just because it plays in the room. Check rights for every audible and visible element, and review YouTube’s current rules before streaming.
- Set the right privacy and event details. Select the intended visibility and confirm the title and other stream details before going live.
- Do not equate a long runtime with a successful stream. Monitor stream health during the test and actual broadcast, and address warnings rather than assuming a static frame means the connection is sound.
- Make the frame intentional. A fixed composition can help make a quiet study-room stream easier to watch; a compatible tripod and clamp are optional, not a CameraFi requirement.
