Choose an identity and credential path
For people, prefer AWS IAM Identity Center with an assigned permission set, or an individual IAM identity where that is the account’s established access model. Avoid shared credentials. For software running on AWS compute, use the assigned role or the applicable compute credential provider rather than distributing a person’s access keys. AWS recommends short-term credentials; long-lived IAM user keys are not its recommended default for software authentication. See AWS security credentials guidance and IAM Identity Center authentication with the AWS CLI.

Local CLI and SDK use with IAM Identity Center
Ask your administrator for the IAM Identity Center start URL, the account assignment, permission set, and AWS Region you should use. Configure a named profile with aws configure sso, then authenticate with aws sso login --profile <profile>. The exact prompts depend on the AWS CLI version and your organization’s configuration. AWS says credentials can refresh automatically while the access-portal session remains active; when that session expires, sign in again.

Sign in using your individual assigned identity. Apply MFA and use only the account or role needed for the task. Console access and local SDK access are related to the same AWS identity system, but the console session does not mean that an application should contain copied credentials.

Enable Amazon Braket and grant caller permissions
An administrator enables Amazon Braket from the Braket console. AWS’s enablement guidance says the enabling identity needs administrator permission or AmazonBraketFullAccess plus permission to create S3 buckets; its access-management prerequisite also calls for a user or role permitted to initiate Braket actions. Treat this as the documented enablement path, not an unconditional production policy recommendation. See Enable Amazon Braket and Amazon Braket access management.
Use the managed policy as a starting point, not a default for every workload
AmazonBraketFullAccess includes Braket operations and permissions for related services and resources, including S3, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, roles, SageMaker notebooks, quotas, and pricing. That breadth can make it convenient for initial setup, but AWS cautions that its managed policies may not grant least-privilege permissions for a particular use case. Review the current Amazon Braket managed policies before attaching or relying on it.
Rank #2
Reduce permissions for ongoing access
For a constrained workload, list the Braket actions and supporting resources it actually uses, including its region, result bucket, and any notebook or Hybrid Jobs workflow. Build a customer-managed policy for those needs, then test it in the target account. Do not assume a policy copied from another setup is complete: account guardrails, bucket policies, and workload features can change what is required. AWS recommends starting with a minimum set of permissions and adding more only when necessary. IAM Access Analyzer can validate policies and suggest permissions from CloudTrail activity; review its suggestions rather than applying them without scrutiny. See IAM best practices.

Keep the Braket roles distinct
Several identities may appear in a Braket setup. They serve different purposes and are not interchangeable.
| Identity or role | Purpose | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Human caller or application role | Signs in or supplies credentials to initiate Braket actions | Grant it only the permissions needed by that user or workload. |
| Braket service-linked role | Lets the Braket service call supporting AWS services on the account’s behalf | Braket creates it when the service is enabled. It is not a developer login or a general-purpose role to attach to another IAM entity. |
| Notebook role | Provides permissions to a Braket notebook, which is a SageMaker AI resource shared with Braket | The role name begins with AmazonBraketServiceSageMakerNotebook. |
| Hybrid Jobs execution role | Provides permissions for a Braket Hybrid Job execution | It is separate from both the caller identity and the service-linked role. |
Verify notebook and job roles
In the Braket console, open the Permissions management page to check whether the required notebook and Hybrid Jobs roles exist; an administrator can create the default role there. If you lack permission to inspect or create roles, ask your AWS administrator rather than substituting the service-linked role or broadening your own access. See Amazon Braket roles and Amazon Braket Hybrid Jobs.
Configure a named CLI profile for the Braket SDK
The Braket SDK uses the default AWS CLI credentials unless you explicitly specify another profile or session. A named profile helps keep access assignments distinct and reduces the chance of running work under the wrong account or role. AWS documents configuring CLI profiles for Boto3 and the Braket SDK at Configure AWS CLI profiles for Boto3 and the Braket SDK.
Rank #4
In Python, the documented pattern is to create a Boto3 session for the chosen profile and pass it into the Braket AwsSession. If the profile’s default region is not suitable for the API or device you intend to use, specify an appropriate region in the session. Confirm both the profile and region before submitting a task; profile selection does not itself grant permissions.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Use standard AWS credential providers and profile configuration instead of embedding access keys in source code.
- Do not commit credential files, paste secrets into URLs, or share a local profile with other users.
- Keep sensitive information out of resource names and tags: AWS notes that such text can appear in billing or diagnostic logs.
Check S3 access for quantum-task results
Braket writes quantum-task results to an S3 bucket in your AWS account. The current managed-policy description covers amazon-braket- buckets and buckets meeting specified Braket tag-based access conditions. AWS’s policy history records a July 6, 2026 update that added S3 access for arbitrarily named buckets under specified account and resource-tag conditions. Because policy behavior can change, consult the live managed-policy documentation and check the bucket policy alongside the identity policy, especially when using a custom bucket.
Best Value
Do not infer that a caller’s Braket permission alone guarantees access to every results bucket. Confirm that the selected identity and bucket policy permit the required operations, that the bucket meets any applicable policy conditions, and that the configured destination is the one your workflow expects. Braket’s task flow and integrations are described in Amazon Braket task flow.
Secure access and understand third-party device terms
AWS recommends MFA, CloudTrail activity logging, and TLS 1.2 or later for Braket access, and recommends TLS 1.3. Braket task workflows can also integrate with CloudWatch and EventBridge for monitoring and event processing. These integrations do not replace your responsibility to configure identity permissions, bucket access, and the logging you need. See Amazon Braket security.
Access to third-party quantum computers requires accepting the account’s third-party device agreement, which covers data transfer between you, AWS, and the hardware provider. AWS says this agreement is accepted once per account for third-party hardware access; it is not required for local or on-demand simulators. Check the agreement and the device’s terms before sending workload data. See Amazon Braket access management.
