To run IridiumSkyblock, use a Java Edition server based on Paper (recommended), Spigot, Purpur, or another supported Spigot fork. Download the IridiumSkyblock JAR and the required Vault dependency, place both files in server/plugins, then stop and start the server again. Do not use /reload; the official documentation warns that it can damage plugin and server state. After the restart, players can run /is to open the island interface and create their first island.

What you need before installing
IridiumSkyblock is a server-side plugin for Minecraft Java Edition. It does not turn a single-player world into Skyblock and it is not a client mod. Install it on the server that players join.

Server software
Paper is the recommended base because Iridium Development tests the plugin with Paper and Paper includes performance patches and glitch fixes compared with a plain Spigot installation. Purpur is also listed as supported, as are Spigot and other compatible Spigot forks. Select the server software first, start it once so it creates its standard folders, and then stop it before copying plugins.
Minecraft version boundary
The project documentation says Minecraft versions before 1.13 are unsupported. Compatibility is release-sensitive after that point: a current IridiumSkyblock release may target a different Minecraft version than an older release. Check the compatibility information for the exact IridiumSkyblock JAR you intend to install rather than assuming that every release supports every modern version.
#1 Best Overall
Dependencies and optional components
- Required: IridiumSkyblock and Vault.
- Needed for economy features: a Vault-compatible economy plugin. The documentation identifies EssentialsX as a basic option.
- Optional: WorldEdit, when your island workflow uses WorldEdit schematics.
Download the plugin files through an official distribution route for the project, such as its project repository, Spigot, Modrinth, Hangar, or GitHub Releases. Match the download to the Minecraft and server-software versions you selected.
Install IridiumSkyblock step by step
- Prepare a Java server. Run a supported Spigot-based server and accept its normal EULA and configuration prompts. Start it once, then shut it down cleanly.
- Download IridiumSkyblock. Keep the downloaded JAR unchanged; do not unzip it or place its contents in the plugins folder.
- Download Vault. Vault is a required dependency, not an optional add-on. Use a build compatible with your server version.
- Copy both JAR files. Put the IridiumSkyblock JAR and Vault JAR directly in
server/plugins. A typical layout isserver/plugins/IridiumSkyblock.jarandserver/plugins/Vault.jar. - Start the server. Use a full stop-and-start cycle. If the server is already running, stop it, wait for the process to close, and start it again. The Getting Started documentation specifically says to restart rather than use
/reload. - Watch the console. Confirm that Vault and IridiumSkyblock enable without an error. A dependency or version error must be fixed before players test island commands.
- Add an economy provider when required. Install a Vault-compatible economy plugin, restart again, and verify that Vault can detect it. Without an economy provider, core island functions may work while shop and money-related functions do not.
- Join as a player. Connect to the server and run
/is. This opens the main Island GUI, which is the normal starting point for creating and managing an island.
Create and manage the first island
Open the Island GUI
Run /is from the player chat. The command opens IridiumSkyblock’s main island interface. The exact buttons and labels can change when you edit the configuration, so treat the GUI as the primary in-game navigation rather than relying on a fixed button position.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Create an island
Use the creation control in the GUI or run /is create. Follow the prompts for the available island type or schematic. The server creates the island in the configured world and applies the plugin’s island rules.
Invite cooperative players
IridiumSkyblock supports cooperative teams with permissions. Use the team controls exposed by the GUI and command system to add trusted players, then review which actions each role can perform. Give membership only to players who should be able to build, use containers, alter settings, or spend shared resources.
Use the island bank
/is bank opens the island-bank interface. Banks and island currencies can be used for progression and purchases when the relevant economy and configuration are present. A player’s personal balance and an island’s shared balance are separate concepts; explain that distinction to team members before they deposit or spend funds.
Review value, missions, and upgrades
The project provides island-value scoring, tiered missions, boosters, and upgrades. These systems are configurable, so the blocks that contribute value, mission requirements, and upgrade costs depend on your YAML settings. Test them with a non-administrator account before opening the server to the public.

Command reference for everyday play
| Command | Purpose | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
/is |
Opens the main Island GUI | Start here for island creation and management |
/is create |
Creates an island | Use when the GUI’s creation control is unavailable or when documenting a command-based workflow |
/is bank |
Opens the island-bank interface | Manage shared island funds or currencies |
/is boosters |
Opens booster controls | Review or activate available island boosters |
/is border |
Opens island-border controls | Customize the visible or functional island boundary |
/is delete |
Deletes an island | Use only after confirming that the owner and team intend to remove it |
The command reference also documents administrative commands that are permission-gated. Do not grant broad administrator permissions simply to make the player workflow convenient; assign only the permissions needed for moderation, island management, or support.
Enable shops and economy features
IridiumSkyblock includes a shop with buy and sell behavior, but the shop needs a working economy bridge. Vault supplies the compatibility layer; it does not create money by itself. Install a Vault-compatible economy provider, configure its currency, restart the server, and then test a purchase and a sale with a regular player account.
Basic verification checklist
- Vault reports that an economy provider is present.
- A test player can view the shop without a console error.
- The player’s balance changes by the expected amount after a purchase.
- A sale credits the expected amount and does not produce a negative or duplicated balance.
- Island-bank transactions remain separate from personal transactions where your configuration intends them to be separate.
If /is shop is unavailable, first check that the economy plugin is installed and enabled, then check Vault’s dependency message and IridiumSkyblock’s startup log. Do not try to solve an economy failure by repeatedly reloading plugins.
Configure the YAML files
On its first successful startup, IridiumSkyblock creates a configuration directory at plugins/IridiumSkyblock. Stop the server before editing files, make a backup, change one related setting at a time, and start the server to validate the result. YAML is indentation-sensitive: use spaces consistently and preserve the existing key structure.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
bankitems.yml
This file defines the items shown in the bank GUI. Use it to change labels, icons, lore, or the controls presented to players. Keep material names and formatting valid for the Minecraft version targeted by your plugin release.
blockvalues.yml
This file controls how blocks contribute to island value. It is the place to rebalance progression, make rare blocks more valuable, or prevent an unintended block from dominating leaderboards. After changing values, place and remove test blocks on a test island and confirm that the score changes as expected.
boosters.yml
Booster definitions and their effects are configured here. Check duration, multiplier, purchase requirements, and stacking behavior in your release before enabling a booster on a public server. A small typo can make a booster unavailable or produce a startup error.
commands.yml
This file contains command descriptions, aliases, and permissions used by the plugin. Edit it when you need different help text or command naming, but keep permission nodes consistent with your permissions manager and document any new aliases for staff and players.

- Stop the server completely.
- Copy the entire
plugins/IridiumSkyblockdirectory to a dated backup location. - Edit only the intended YAML file.
- Check indentation and spelling before starting the server.
- Start the server and read the console from beginning to end.
- Test the changed feature with a normal player account and an administrator account where appropriate.
If a change prevents startup, stop the server, restore the backup file, and start again. Avoid deleting the whole configuration directory unless you intentionally want the plugin to regenerate every setting.

Island generation, schematics, and dimensions
Project materials describe configurable island generation in all three dimensions. The available worlds and templates depend on your configuration and the release you install. Test generation in a disposable world before allowing players to create permanent islands, particularly after changing a schematic or world setting.
WorldEdit schematic workflow
The FAQ notes that WorldEdit schematics may need to be copied into the WorldEdit schematics directory. If a configured island template does not appear, verify the schematic filename, copy location, file permissions, and the server’s startup messages. A schematic being present on disk does not guarantee that its name or format matches the value in your IridiumSkyblock configuration.
Three-dimension planning
- Decide which dimensions players may use for islands.
- Keep generation rules consistent so island protection and borders apply where expected.
- Test teleportation, block placement, mob behavior, and island-value calculations in each enabled dimension.
- Explain dimension-specific risks to players before enabling a new template publicly.
Use borders, boosters, missions, and progression together
IridiumSkyblock’s progression systems are designed to interact. Island value can feed rankings or unlocks; missions can direct players toward particular resources; boosters can accelerate a period of work; and borders define the space protected by an island. Decide the order in which these systems should advance before publishing your rules.
Island borders
/is border opens the border controls. Set a starting size that leaves room for the first farm and storage area, then use upgrades if your progression design expands the boundary. Test the edge from inside and outside the island to confirm that protection and visual borders agree.
Boosters
/is boosters opens booster controls. Define who can activate a booster, whether it affects every team member, and whether multiple boosters stack. Record those rules in the server’s player guide so teams understand what they are buying or earning.
Best Value
Missions and island value
Tiered missions and block-value scoring are configurable rather than fixed game rules. Establish a small test island, complete each mission tier, and compare the displayed value before and after placing the relevant blocks. This catches mismatched materials, impossible requirements, and values that make one strategy overwhelmingly profitable.
Storage and operational considerations
The project documentation describes SQLite support. Choose the storage option exposed by your release and keep its database files with the rest of the server data. Include the database and the plugins/IridiumSkyblock directory in backups; copying only the world folder can leave islands, balances, or settings unrecoverable.
Restart policy
Use a planned stop and start whenever you install, remove, or update IridiumSkyblock, Vault, an economy provider, or a related plugin. The official setup instructions explicitly warn against /reload, because partial plugin reloads can break state and leave dependencies in an inconsistent order.
Backups before updates
- Stop the server and wait for the process to exit.
- Back up the world folders, plugin configuration, database files, and server configuration.
- Record the old IridiumSkyblock and dependency versions.
- Install the new JARs without deleting the backup.
- Start the server, inspect the console, and test island creation, teleportation, economy, bank access, and deletion safeguards.
- Keep the old files available until players have completed a normal play session successfully.
Environments IridiumSkyblock does not support
| Environment or arrangement | Documentation status | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft versions before 1.13 | Unsupported | Use a supported Minecraft version and a matching plugin release |
| Forge | Warned against | IridiumSkyblock is intended for Spigot-compatible server software |
| Fabric | Warned against | A Fabric server is not the documented runtime |
| Sponge | Warned against | Sponge is outside the documented compatibility target |
| Geyser or Bedrock usage | Warned against | The documented setup targets Java Edition servers |
| Multi-gamemode arrangements without a supported proxy setup | Warned against | World and player routing can conflict with island protection |
| PlugMan-like plugin loaders | Warned against | Dynamic loading can bypass the clean dependency and startup order the plugin expects |
If your server depends on one of these environments, do not assume that a successful JAR load means the complete island workflow is supported. Use the documented Spigot-family setup for the most predictable result.
Troubleshoot common failures
The plugin does not appear in the server list
- Confirm the JAR is directly inside
server/plugins, not in a nested folder. - Check that the filename was not changed to a duplicate or partial download.
- Read the startup log for a Java, Minecraft-version, or dependency error.
- Verify that you performed a full restart rather than a reload.
Vault is missing or economy commands fail
- Make sure Vault is installed and enabled.
- Install a Vault-compatible economy provider if shop or money features are required.
- Restart after installing either dependency.
- Check that the economy provider supports the server version and reports a usable currency.
/is is unknown or denied
- Confirm IridiumSkyblock enabled successfully in the console.
- Check the player’s command permissions and any alias changes in
commands.yml. - Test from the correct server instance if a proxy connects multiple servers.
An island schematic cannot be found
- Verify that the schematic is in the WorldEdit schematics directory described by the FAQ.
- Match the configured name exactly, including capitalization where the file system requires it.
- Check the startup log for a malformed schematic or unsupported block.
- Regenerate the test island only after correcting the file; do not delete a player’s existing island as a diagnostic step.
A YAML edit breaks startup
Restore the last working backup, then reapply the change with correct indentation and valid values. Make one edit at a time so the offending key is identifiable. Never troubleshoot by deleting every configuration file on a live server unless you have a tested restore plan.
Pre-launch checklist
- Paper, Spigot, Purpur, or another supported Spigot fork is running on Java Edition.
- The selected Minecraft version is supported by the exact IridiumSkyblock release.
- IridiumSkyblock and Vault are in
server/plugins. - A Vault-compatible economy provider is installed if shops or money features are enabled.
- A full restart was used;
/reloadwas not used. /isopens the GUI and/is createcreates a test island.- Bank, shop, border, booster, mission, and deletion permissions were tested with non-administrator accounts.
- Configured schematics load correctly and WorldEdit files are in the expected directory.
- Worlds, YAML files, and SQLite data are included in a tested backup.
- Players have clear rules for teams, island deletion, economy, boosters, and dimension access.
The Bottom Line
Use a supported Java server—preferably Paper—install IridiumSkyblock and Vault in server/plugins, add a Vault economy provider for shops, and restart cleanly. Start island play with /is, keep configuration backups, and test every release-specific feature before opening the server to players.
