Set up your treadmill using the assembly and owner’s manual for its exact model and revision. That manual—not a generic treadmill checklist—determines where the machine can go, how much clearance it needs, its electrical requirements, whether its belt needs lubricant, and how to adjust or service it.
Before assembly: choose a suitable location
Find the treadmill’s model and revision on its label, then locate the matching owner’s manual and assembly guide. Requirements vary by machine. For example, Horizon’s 7.0 AT-03 support materials cover location, leveling, moving and belt adjustment, while Sunny Health & Fitness provides model-specific assembly and support resources.

Place it on a stable, level surface. A floor mat is optional and may help protect a suitable floor when the treadmill maker recommends one; Decathlon’s RUN100E version A guidance, for instance, recommends a suitable mat for that model. Check the treadmill’s dimensions and the mat’s size before buying.

Assemble and inspect the machine
Follow the model-specific assembly guide in order and use the supplied hardware. Check fasteners and components as directed. Do not improvise lifting, folding or moving steps: frames and support mechanisms can shift unexpectedly, and procedures differ among machines.
Once assembled, make sure the treadmill is stable and level, and check that the running belt can move freely. If a part is missing, damaged or does not fit as described, stop and contact the manufacturer rather than substituting hardware or forcing the assembly.
Prepare for safe first use
Clear the operating area and use the safety key as the manufacturer directs. Some instructions are brand-specific: Reebok’s treadmill support, for example, says to clip the red safety key to the user’s waistband and keep children and pets away. Check your own manual for the correct key procedure, safe entry and stopping instructions.

Clean and inspect it routinely
Wipe the machine and belt only as the owner’s manual permits, and keep debris from building up around the belt and frame. The manual should specify acceptable cleaners and methods; products suitable for one surface may be inappropriate for another.
As part of routine care, look for visible damage to the power cord and loose or damaged fasteners. Do not open a motor cover or attempt electrical repairs unless the manufacturer explicitly identifies the work as user maintenance. For unclear cleaning instructions or a fault, consult the model’s manual or support page.
Lubricate the belt only if your manual says to
There is no safe universal treadmill lubrication interval or product. Instructions can conflict: Decathlon specifies its own lubricant and an interval of every 200 km for the RUN100E version A, while Precor’s TRM10 Base service documentation says not to apply lubricant to that system’s belt and deck.

Check the exact model’s manual before purchasing or applying any lubricant. If it specifies a particular product, chemistry, interval or application method, follow those instructions. If it describes the belt as pre-lubricated, waxed or maintenance-free, or says not to lubricate it, do not apply a generic product. The phrase “silicone treadmill belt lubricant” is relevant only when your manual permits a compatible silicone lubricant.

A belt that drifts to one side or slips may need attention, but adjustment hardware and directions vary. Do not copy another treadmill’s bolt direction or number of turns. Follow the exact model’s instructions and use the supplied tool. Decathlon’s RUN100E guide describes a model-specific centering procedure with staged quarter-turn adjustments, and Horizon’s 7.0 AT-03 support includes belt-tensioning and centering guidance.
Make only adjustments authorized by your manual. Stop if the belt, deck or adjustment hardware appears damaged, or if the belt continues to slip or drift after the permitted adjustment; seek manufacturer support rather than making larger or repeated changes.

Follow the manual’s maintenance schedule
Use the service reminders and maintenance schedule for your treadmill’s exact model. Some manufacturers publish checks and replacement intervals based on hours or distance; Decathlon’s preventative schedule for the RUN100E version A is specific to that model and should not be treated as a general treadmill schedule.
For persistent noise, electrical faults, damaged wiring, a damaged belt or deck, or any service step that involves internal covers, follow the manufacturer’s service guidance. Match replacement parts to the exact make, model and revision before ordering.
