To change a magnetic keyboard’s actuation point, open its configuration software or onboard controls, select the profile you want to edit, and adjust the actuation setting. On Wooting keyboards, the path is Wootility → Performance → Set actuation point. Use a compatible Hall Effect or magnetic-switch keyboard; a standard mechanical keyboard cannot provide this adjustable actuation behavior. Controls and supported ranges vary by model.
What an actuation point changes
The actuation point is the key-travel threshold at which a press registers. On a compatible magnetic keyboard, you can move that threshold earlier or later in the key’s travel. A lower setting makes a key more sensitive; it may register with less movement, but can also make accidental presses more likely.

There is no universally best value. Wooting’s guidance puts it plainly: “There is no best actuation point, there is what works best for you.” Choose settings for your task and how easily you trigger keys by accident.

Set actuation in Wootility
- Open Wootility and select the profile you want to change.
- Open the Performance tab.
- Find Set actuation point and adjust the slider. The keyboard view highlights the keys affected.
- For different settings on different keys, choose Set per key actuation, then select the keys to adjust.
- Try the setting in your normal game or typing task. If a key registers while your finger rests on it, raise that key’s actuation point. If you want it to register with less travel, lower it in small steps.
These tuning steps are practical guidance, not a tested competitive preset. Make changes gradually so you can identify which adjustment helps or causes unwanted input.

Actuation point and Rapid Trigger are different
Actuation sets the travel threshold for a press. Rapid Trigger changes how a key resets and can register again: instead of relying on the same fixed reset point, it responds to key movement. The way Rapid Trigger interacts with the actuation setting and how its sensitivity is adjusted depend on the keyboard’s implementation.
Wooting Rapid Trigger
In Wootility, open the profile’s Performance tab and switch on Rapid Trigger. In Wooting’s standard mode, the active actuation setting marks where Rapid Trigger starts working. Its sensitivity setting controls how much movement is needed to reset: higher sensitivity requires less release travel, while lower sensitivity requires more. Wooting also documents per-key Rapid Trigger, continuous mode, and separate upstroke and downstroke sensitivity. Availability can depend on keyboard or switch generation, so check the feature notes for your exact model.

SteelSeries Apex Pro Rapid Trigger
SteelSeries describes Rapid Trigger as using active and reset points that move with the key. Its support article lists the Apex Pro, Apex Pro Mini, Apex Pro Mini Wireless, Apex Pro TKL (2023), and Apex Pro TKL Wireless (2023) as compatible models. On compatible Apex Pro keyboards, SteelSeries documents the SteelSeries key + T shortcut to toggle Rapid Trigger. Other models or firmware versions may use different controls; check the support material for the exact keyboard.

How model support and controls differ
Do not assume that one brand’s instructions, adjustment range, or Rapid Trigger options apply to another keyboard. For example, Wooting documents profile-based settings in Wootility, while SteelSeries documents an on-device shortcut for toggling Rapid Trigger on compatible Apex Pro models.

Before changing settings
- Confirm the exact keyboard supports adjustable actuation; a compatible Hall Effect or magnetic-switch model is required.
- Use the instructions for your keyboard model and firmware. Brand-level instructions are not interchangeable.
- Start with a comfortable setting and adjust one key or a small group at a time if you are troubleshooting accidental inputs.
- For a Wooting 80HE+, the manufacturer also lists calibration and onboard profiles; do not assume those features or its actuation range apply to another model.
