To activate a Logitech Blue Yeti for basic use, connect it to your computer by USB and select it as the microphone input in your system’s sound settings. Logitech says the Yeti is plug-and-play and needs no driver for basic operation. Blue VO!CE processing is optional and requires Logitech G HUB.
Connect the Yeti and select it as your input
-
Connect the microphone directly to the computer with its USB cable. Logitech recommends a direct USB connection for its microphones: Logitech’s USB microphone setup guide.

Logitech’s setup guide names Windows 7, 8.1, and 10, and macOS 10.10 or later. Those are the versions listed in that article, not a current compatibility matrix: Logitech USB microphone setup instructions. Logitech’s Yeti product page says basic operation does not require drivers.
Speak into the right side and set the physical controls
The Yeti is a side-address microphone: speak toward its front face rather than toward the top when it is upright. Use its gain control to adjust sensitivity and its mute control to silence the mic when needed. The microphone also has a pattern selector; consult the instructions for your exact model before choosing a pattern, since pickup-pattern options and their uses can differ across models. Logitech lists the Yeti’s multi-pattern design, gain, mute, and headphone monitoring features on its product page.

Blue VO!CE is optional
You do not need Blue VO!CE to make the Yeti work as a USB microphone. Logitech says Blue VO!CE filters and effects are available through its free G HUB software. The listed processing options include EQ, a limiter, a depopper, and voice effects. First confirm that your computer and recording app receive a clean signal; effects are optional tools, not a guaranteed improvement for every voice or room. See Logitech’s G HUB page and Yeti product details.
If Windows does not recognize the Yeti
Logitech’s Windows-specific troubleshooting sequence starts with the connection and then checks whether the issue follows the microphone:
