How to Set Up Alerts for a Charity Live Stream

Set up charity donation alerts by connecting a published fundraiser to its alert provider, adding the widget to OBS when needed, and previewing the scene before the event.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To show donation alerts during a charity live stream, first publish your fundraiser with a donation or alert provider, connect the campaign to that provider’s alert system, then add its alert or goal widget to OBS as a Browser source if needed. OBS displays the widget; it does not receive or process donations itself.

Choose where the fundraiser and donation events will come from

Your fundraising service records donations and sends the events that trigger alerts. OBS Studio is the broadcasting software that can display a provider’s widget in your scene, but it does not provide donation processing. The OBS Project explains this distinction in its donation FAQ.

  • Using Streamlabs Charity: Streamlabs documents charity donation alerts and a separate donation-goal widget.
  • Using Tiltify: Tiltify provides fundraiser overlays and alert options. Streamlabs also documents an integration for Tiltify donations.

Before choosing, check that the service hosts the campaign you intend to use and connects to the alert box in your streaming setup. Widget controls can differ by account, campaign, platform, or geography, so confirm the available options in your own account.

Set up Streamlabs Charity alerts in OBS

  1. Create and publish the campaign. Set up the fundraiser and publish it before connecting alerts. Streamlabs’ charity stream guide describes creating the campaign, entering its details and goal, and publishing it.
  2. Connect the published campaign. In your Streamlabs account, open account integrations. On the Streamlabs Charity row, choose Manage Campaigns, select the campaign you are raising money for, and save. This links that campaign to Streamlabs alerts, as described in its charity alert instructions.
  3. Customize the donation alert. Open Stream Alert Settings, expand Global Event Types, and select Streamlabs Charity Donation. Adjust the alert’s visual and audio presentation for your stream.
  4. Set up a goal widget if you want one. In the Streamlabs dashboard, configure the Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal widget and save it. This widget is separate from the donation alert; use it when you want viewers to see progress toward a fundraising goal.
  5. Add the goal widget to OBS. Copy its widget URL. In OBS, add a Browser source, paste the URL into the source’s URL field, and size and position it in the scene. Streamlabs provides this workflow in its donation goal widget guide.
  6. Preview the scene and alert. Use the alert preview in Streamlabs and inspect the goal widget in the OBS scene. Confirm that text, animation, audio, and placement are legible and do not cover important content. Previewing checks the composition, but it does not guarantee that every account or campaign will behave identically when live.

Keep the widget URL private

Treat the goal widget URL as private: do not paste it into a visible text element, show it in a screen share, or otherwise reveal it on stream. Streamlabs explicitly warns against showing the charity goal widget URL.

Set up Tiltify overlays or route Tiltify alerts through Streamlabs

Use Tiltify’s own overlay and alert options

Tiltify documents customizable fundraiser overlays and donation alerts. Depending on the widget, its controls include options such as colors, fonts, positions, animations, thresholds, alignment, and GIFs. Start with Tiltify’s overlay and alert setup guide and advanced overlays and alerts guide, then check which settings are available for your campaign.

Connect Tiltify donations to Streamlabs alerts

If you want to use Streamlabs’ alert box for a Tiltify campaign, authorize Streamlabs from your Tiltify account as described in the Tiltify integration tutorial. Then, in Streamlabs, open Alert Box > Tiltify Donations to customize the donation alerts. Preview the result in the scene you will use for the fundraiser.

Add a provider’s alert to OBS

If your alert provider supplies a widget URL and instructs you to use it in OBS, add it as a Browser source. Streamlabs says OBS users without the Streamlabs plugin can copy the widget URL and add a Browser source; its documented alert events include Streamlabs Charity Donations and Tiltify. Follow the provider’s instructions for the specific widget, since the goal widget and event alert may be separate sources. See Streamlabs’ alert setup guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Copy the alert or overlay URL from the provider’s dashboard.
  2. In OBS, add a Browser source to the scene where the alert should appear.
  3. Paste the URL into the source’s URL field, then size and position it in the scene.
  4. Use the provider’s preview controls and inspect the OBS scene. Check the visual placement and audio before the event.

Keep widget URLs private, and test the actual campaign and scene you plan to use. The setup guides describe how to add and preview widgets, but do not guarantee identical account-level behavior for every fundraiser.

Or let it run in the cloud

Donation alerts are configured through your fundraiser and alert provider; StreamNeo is for keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream running continuously, not for processing donations or broadcasting a live camera. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
