To set up a UGREEN NAS, connect it by Ethernet to your router, find it from a device on the same local network, initialize UGOS Pro, create a storage volume, and make a personal folder. The storage step formats the drives you select, so do not proceed until their existing contents are backed up or disposable.
These steps follow UGREEN’s Beginner’s Guide for UGOS Pro 1.18.0.0076 or later. UGREEN notes that menus can change with software and app updates. If your screen differs, consult the documentation for your exact NAS model in UGREEN’s NAS Download Center.

Before you start
- Connect the NAS to your router with an Ethernet cable. Your computer or phone should be connected to the same local network.
- Have at least one unused, healthy hard drive ready to create storage. If you need to buy drives, check your exact NAS and drive models in UGREEN’s compatibility information and use the RAID calculator to estimate usable capacity.
- Be prepared to format the selected drives when creating a volume. Back up anything you need from them first.

Find the NAS on your network
Power on the NAS and connect it to the router. From a computer or phone on the same LAN, open find.ugnas.com. UGREEN says the page searches the current local network and displays available devices.

Alternatively, open the UGREEN NAS app that supports your model, choose “More Connections” or “New device registration,” and select the NAS. If it does not appear, first confirm that the NAS is powered on and connected to the router by Ethernet, and that your setup device is on the same network.
Initialize UGOS Pro and create the administrator account
- Select the discovered NAS and start “Device Initialization Setup.” Give the device a name you can recognize on your network.
- Create the first administrator account and password. UGREEN recommends a password of at least 8 characters containing uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Choose whether to bind a UGREEN account. You can skip this during initialization and set it up later.
- Select a system update method and start initialization. Keep both power and network connected. UGREEN’s Beginner’s Guide says: “During initialization, do not disconnect the power supply or interrupt the network connection.”
Create a storage volume
After signing in for the first time, complete the feature guide if it appears, then open the on-screen storage wizard or the Storage app. Choose the drives to use, RAID type, allocated capacity, and file system, then submit the creation step.

UGREEN’s confirmation screen says “Delete All Data.” Treat this as a destructive operation: it formats the selected drive contents. Continue only after verifying that anything stored on those drives is backed up or no longer needed.

RAID options differ in usable capacity, performance, and protection. Check UGREEN’s RAID guide, calculator, and compatibility information for your exact model before choosing. RAID can help keep a pool available after certain drive failures, but it is not a backup; keep a separate copy of important files.
Create your first folder
Use the new-device card’s “Create a Personal Folder” option and select the volume where it should live. This gives you a place to start storing files. If you need a folder for more than one user, an administrator can create a shared folder and set its access permissions.

Decide whether to enable remote access
UGREENlink Remote Access is optional during initial setup. Enabling it requires binding a UGREEN account. If you skip it for now, UGREEN says you can configure account binding later from the Control Panel’s device connection settings.
