How to Set Up a StreamYard YouTube Stream with a Scheduled Start Time

Create a scheduled YouTube event from StreamYard, then enter the studio and click Go Live when it is time to broadcast.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To schedule a YouTube stream in StreamYard, create a live stream, choose your connected YouTube channel, fill in the broadcast details, select Schedule for Later, and set the date and time. This creates an upcoming YouTube event; for a regular StreamYard studio broadcast, you still need to enter the studio and click Go Live at showtime.

Before you schedule

  • Enable YouTube live streaming. StreamYard lists this as a prerequisite. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days: YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility help.
  • Connect your YouTube channel to StreamYard. You can add it during setup if it is not already connected.
  • Decide whether this is a studio broadcast or a prerecorded stream. A scheduled studio broadcast requires you to start it manually. StreamYard’s separate prerecorded-stream feature can start at its scheduled time without you being online.

Schedule a YouTube stream in StreamYard

  1. Open the creation flow. In StreamYard, go to Home and under Create, choose Live Stream.
  2. Choose YouTube. Select the connected YouTube channel as the destination. If it is missing, choose Add a destination and connect the channel.
  3. Enter the broadcast details. Add a title and description, then choose the privacy setting that suits the event.
  4. Choose the scheduled start. Select Schedule for Later (also styled as “Schedule for later” in StreamYard’s YouTube-specific instructions), then set the date and time.
  5. Add an optional thumbnail. StreamYard’s YouTube scheduling help reports YouTube’s recommended thumbnail size as 1280 × 720 pixels. This is a recommendation, not a requirement to schedule the event.
  6. Promote it if useful. Turn on Schedule an announcement if you want StreamYard to make a channel post promoting the stream.
  7. Create the stream. Check the details and confirm creation. The event is now scheduled, but a regular studio broadcast has not started.

What happens at the scheduled time?

For a normal StreamYard live studio broadcast, scheduling creates a post notifying viewers of the start time; it does not start the live show. At showtime, open the StreamYard studio and click Go Live. StreamYard states this distinction in its How to Create a Live Stream help article.

Do not confuse that workflow with StreamYard’s separate prerecorded-stream feature: its help page says a scheduled prerecorded video goes live at the selected time even if you are offline. That automatic-start behavior does not apply to a regular studio broadcast.

What viewers see and how to find the watch page

A scheduled YouTube stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds. Viewers can select Notify me to receive a reminder when it is about to begin, according to YouTube’s help for scheduled live streams. The event also has a watch-page link you can share.

Scheduling limits to check before a multistream

StreamYard’s general scheduling help lists YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and StreamYard On-Air as destinations that can be scheduled in advance. It says advance scheduling is not available for X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, or a custom RTMP destination. If you plan to send one broadcast to several destinations, confirm that each destination supports the scheduled setup you need; see StreamYard’s scheduling help.

Troubleshooting a scheduled YouTube stream

  • YouTube is not available as a destination: Go to Add a destination and connect the correct YouTube channel, then retry the creation flow.
  • You cannot schedule a stream: Confirm that YouTube live streaming is enabled for the channel and that it meets YouTube’s current eligibility requirements, including verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days.
  • You expected the stream to start automatically: A scheduled studio broadcast needs a person to open the studio and click Go Live. Use the distinct prerecorded-stream workflow if your intended format is an uploaded video scheduled to play while you are offline.
  • You cannot find the event or its link: In StreamYard, open the broadcast’s three-dot menu and select View on YouTube; alternatively, check the channel’s Live tab or YouTube Studio’s Content > Live area.
  • A destination is missing from a multistream schedule: Check that destination’s advance-scheduling support. StreamYard lists custom RTMP, Instagram, and X as unsupported for advance scheduling in its general scheduling help.

StreamYard and YouTube may change labels or controls. If the steps differ in your account, check StreamYard’s current help center and the YouTube Live controls for your channel.
