To set up a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE, power it on, choose your language, review the displayed terms, connect to Wi-Fi, then decide whether to transfer data or start fresh. Sign in to Google, set a screen lock, and choose whether to use a Samsung account. Cellular models may show additional SIM or eSIM steps, depending on the model and carrier.
Before you turn on the tablet
- Charge the tablet through its USB-C port before starting.
- Check whether your Tab S10 FE is Wi-Fi-only or a cellular model. A cellular model may need a physical SIM inserted before setup; eSIM activation may appear during setup or be completed later. Ask your carrier about activation steps, which vary by carrier and plan.
- If you want more storage, you can insert a microSD card. It is optional, sold separately, and Samsung lists support for cards up to 2TB. See Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 FE product page for the specification.
Start first-run setup
- Hold the Side button until the tablet turns on.
- At the Welcome screen, choose your primary language and tap Start.
- Read the terms, privacy policy, and diagnostic-data prompts, then make your choices. The exact wording and options can differ from Samsung’s support guide and may vary by device software.
Choose whether to transfer data
The setup flow offers migration from an Android or Galaxy device, an iPhone or iPad, or the option to continue without copying. Decide based on whether you want to bring over existing content and settings or configure the tablet from scratch.

From an Android or Galaxy device
Samsung Smart Switch can transfer data and settings. Depending on the devices and software involved, transfer options may include a cable, wireless transfer, or a computer backup. Follow the prompts shown on both devices and review the transfer summary before finishing.
From an iPhone or iPad
Smart Switch can offer wired, wireless, and computer-based routes, but a transfer is not guaranteed to reproduce an iPhone completely. Samsung’s iPhone-to-Galaxy Smart Switch guide says a wired route can support more content than wireless transfer; that guide is from 2019, so its specific screen instructions may be outdated. Some apps may need Android equivalents installed separately, and app purchases do not become Android purchases. Check what the transfer summary says was copied.

Start fresh
If you do not want to migrate content, choose the option to skip copying and continue setup. You can install apps and add content later.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Select a trusted network and enter its password. For a hidden network, Samsung says to add it manually. Cellular models may also display SIM or eSIM prompts; follow the carrier’s instructions if activation is needed.

Sign in and secure the tablet
Google account
Sign in to an existing Google account or create one if prompted. Samsung support documentation says a Google account provides access to the Play Store and other tablet features. If you skip account sign-in, some Google services and Play Store functions will not be ready until you add an account.

Set a screen lock when prompted. If you enable biometric unlocking, such as fingerprint recognition, you still need a standard lock method as a fallback.

Samsung account
Samsung account sign-in is optional for the basic setup flow, but it enables Samsung services, syncing with other Galaxy devices, and location features. Samsung support documentation says the account can also help locate a missing tablet.

Choose Light or Dark mode, complete the remaining on-screen prompts, and then install the apps you want. Optional accessories are not required to finish setup: Samsung says microSD cards and Book Cover Keyboard models are sold separately. Keyboard availability and layout vary by country, language, and model. Check the package contents for your specific regional SKU; Samsung presents S Pen support with the Tab S10 FE.

If setup or transfer gets stuck
- Unexpected cellular prompts: Confirm whether your model supports cellular service and check physical SIM or eSIM activation with your carrier.
- Smart Switch stalls: Samsung recommends clearing Smart Switch’s cache, checking system requirements, and freeing storage. Keep Smart Switch current, including for security patches.
- Some iPhone content is missing: Not all content, settings, apps, or purchases are transferable. Review the completion summary and install Android app equivalents separately where needed.
