Set up or sign in to the Nintendo Account you want to own the game before you claim it. Switch 2 bundles may include either a printed download code or a game entitlement claimed through the console; the steps differ, but Nintendo ties the game license to the account used to redeem or register it.
Before you redeem the bundle game
- Connect your Switch 2 to the internet and complete its initial setup.
- Have access to the Nintendo Account that should own the game. If you claim it while signed in to another account, the license is associated with that account.
- Check the bundle packaging and the console for the fulfillment method. Not every bundle uses a printed code.
Nintendo explains that the game license is tied to the Nintendo Account that redeems or registers the game, and that the same account is needed to manage its virtual game card. See Nintendo’s Getting Started with Nintendo Switch 2.

How do I set up a Nintendo Account on Switch 2?
Create an account or sign in
- On a computer or smart device, visit Nintendo’s Nintendo Account setup guide and choose “Sign in/Create account.”
- Choose “Create a Nintendo Account” if you do not already have one, enter your date of birth, and select a sign-in method. If you already have an account, sign in with it instead; you can use an existing Nintendo Account on Switch 2.
- Follow the console’s initial setup and connect the system to the internet. Link the intended Nintendo Account to the Switch 2 user you will use for the game.
If you create and link an account using the console’s email-confirmation option, Nintendo may offer a five-digit confirmation-code flow completed on a computer or smart device. This is distinct from the four-digit verification code sent by email. Children who are subject to verifiable parental consent requirements cannot create an account independently; a parent or guardian must create it within their own account. See Nintendo’s account confirmation instructions.

Find out how your bundle delivers the game
Nintendo documents two bundle claim methods. Check the package and HOME menu rather than assuming every Switch 2 bundle contains a code.

Nintendo describes both methods in its Switch 2 bundle FAQ.
How do I redeem my Switch 2 bundle code?
- Connect the Switch 2 to the internet and open Nintendo eShop.
- Choose the user linked to the Nintendo Account that should own the game.
- Select “Enter Code,” enter the bundle’s download code, then review and confirm redemption.
If the retailer’s card shows both a download code and a control number, enter the download code. Your Nintendo Account’s country must be set to a country where Nintendo eShop is available. For code errors, use Nintendo’s download-code redemption and troubleshooting guidance.

Redeem the code online instead
You can also use Nintendo’s online code redemption page. Before using it, the intended account must have opened Nintendo eShop on a Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch at least once. Sign in, enter the 16-digit code, and confirm redemption for that account. If the page will not let you redeem, open eShop on the console with the intended account first, then try again or redeem directly on the console.
Where is the game included with my Switch 2 bundle?
If there is no printed code, select the bundle or game icon on the HOME menu. Choose the Nintendo Account that should own the game, continue to Nintendo eShop, and select “Download” to register the game and begin downloading it.

The game was claimed on the wrong account
Stop before confirming any further redemption or registration and check the selected user. A claimed game is associated with the account used to claim it. Nintendo’s bundle FAQ directs users who claimed on the wrong account to its transfer guidance; do not assume a normal transfer is available.
Rank #4
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps

The code is rejected
- Check that you entered the download code, not a separate control number.
- Confirm that the Nintendo Account is set to a country where eShop is available.
- Review Nintendo’s download-code error guidance for the message shown.
There is no code in the package
Look for the game or bundle icon on HOME, then check eShop’s “Products Bundled with Console” section if needed. Nintendo’s bundle FAQ describes registration-based bundles that do not use a printed download code.
