To loop a Hindi devotional video on YouTube Live with OBS, add the local file to an OBS Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a YouTube Studio stream with its server URL and stream key, then check the preview before going live. For several videos, use OBS’s VLC Video source as a playlist and enable Loop Playlist. The key prerequisites are an eligible YouTube channel and permission for every recording and composition you stream.
Before you set up the loop
Confirm YouTube Live is enabled
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says the minimum age to live stream is 16, and first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Enable streaming well before the planned broadcast and check eligibility in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements.

Prepare the media and confirm your rights
Keep the video or audio file on the computer running OBS. OBS Media Source supports common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. For a still devotional image with a separate soundtrack, add the image and audio as separate sources; the image can remain static while the audio loops. OBS documents the source options in its Media Sources guide.
A devotional subject does not itself grant permission to broadcast a recording. Confirm that your rights cover the specific sound recording and composition, live streaming, the relevant territories, and any archived playback. YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have the necessary worldwide rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other rights participants. Keep permission records; if a license is involved, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted.

Set up a single-file loop in OBS
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, choose an existing scene or add one in the Scenes panel. A scene holds the visual and audio sources sent to YouTube.
- Add the media. In Sources, select +, choose Media Source, name it, and select the local video file. Enable Loop so OBS restarts the file when playback reaches the end.
- Choose the start behavior. Leave Restart playback when source becomes active enabled if you want the file to start from the beginning whenever that source becomes visible in the active scene.
- Fit the picture. Check the OBS canvas and preview. If the video is cropped or has borders, adjust its size and position in the canvas to suit the layout; avoid stretching it out of its original aspect ratio.
- Check the audio. Watch the OBS audio mixer while playback runs. Confirm the intended source is moving in the meter and that the audio is not muted. Listen to the preview or a test stream to check the actual level and sound.
Use a playlist for multiple devotional videos
If the broadcast should cycle through several files in sequence, add a VLC Video source rather than stacking separate Media Sources. Add the files to its playlist and confirm Loop Playlist is enabled; OBS documents that it is enabled by default. This source requires VLC to be installed on the computer running OBS. The single-file Media Source is simpler when there is only one recording; VLC Video is useful when the sequence itself matters. See the OBS Media Sources guide for the current controls.
Connect OBS to YouTube Studio
- Create or choose the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create a stream or select an existing scheduled stream. The exact Studio layout may change; YouTube’s encoder setup guide covers connecting streaming software.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube.
- Enter them in OBS. Open Settings > Stream, select YouTube if available, and enter or connect the stream key as prompted. If configuring a custom service, use the YouTube server URL and key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Start the encoder and wait for preview. Select Start Streaming in OBS. In YouTube Live Control Room, wait for the incoming signal and inspect the preview before starting the viewer-facing event. Do not share the stream key publicly.
Choose settings for a stable broadcast
Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings as the reference for the resolution and frame rate you intend to send. YouTube recommends choosing quality that your actual upload connection can sustain; run an upload speed test and leave headroom rather than setting the encoder at the connection’s theoretical maximum. There is no single video bitrate that suits every resolution and frame rate.

- Connection: RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended secure extension to RTMP.
These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not guarantees that a particular computer or internet connection can sustain a given output. Select a supported resolution and frame rate in OBS, then use YouTube’s table for the corresponding video bitrate rather than applying one bitrate to every stream.

- Make a test stream before the real broadcast; an unlisted test is one option.
- Use the same media, scene, resolution, frame rate and audio setup planned for the event.
- Start OBS streaming ahead of the scheduled start and wait for the YouTube preview.
- Confirm the picture is visible, the audio is present and at a sensible level, and the loop restarts or advances through the playlist as intended.
- Check YouTube’s stream health and continue monitoring audio and video quality during the broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends starting the encoder ahead of the scheduled event and checking the preview. A short test can reveal a missing source, muted audio, an incorrect stream key or a connection that cannot sustain the chosen quality before viewers arrive.

Copyright checks for devotional music and video
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects such material, a placeholder may replace the live output; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A license does not necessarily remove this risk: the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel. Confirm the license covers both the recording and composition, the planned live use, the territories, and any replay or archive, and ask about allowlisting in advance. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams alongside its livestream terms.
YouTube’s special live Content ID matching feature is not a setting available to every creator. YouTube limits it to certain Content Manager partners and imposes global-rights and exclusive-ownership requirements. Do not rely on that feature as a workaround for missing permissions.

Troubleshoot common loop and stream problems
- The stream cannot be enabled: check channel verification, age eligibility and whether a live-streaming restriction occurred in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The file plays once and stops: open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a multi-file source, check Loop Playlist in VLC Video.
- The playlist source is unavailable: VLC Video requires VLC installed on the OBS computer. Install it, restart OBS if needed, and check the source again.
- YouTube does not show a preview: verify that OBS is streaming, that the selected server URL and stream key belong to the intended YouTube stream, and that the connection has time to register. Keep the key private.
- There is no sound: check that the audio source is present and unmuted in OBS, that the mixer meter responds during playback, and that the selected media includes an audio track or that the separate audio source is active.
- The broadcast stutters or loses health: lower the output quality or bitrate to a level the real upload connection can sustain, then test again. Check YouTube’s stream-health panel rather than assuming the nominal internet speed is available to the encoder.
- The live output is replaced or interrupted: investigate a possible third-party content match. Confirm rights and any channel allowlisting with the rights owner; changing OBS settings does not grant music or video rights.
