In Streamlabs, a donation ticker is called the Tip Ticker. Add it as a source in Streamlabs Desktop, or copy its widget URL into a Browser Source in OBS or another broadcasting app. Then adjust its message, appearance and placement, and check it in your stream preview before going live.
Choose how to add the Tip Ticker

Streamlabs describes the widget as a way to “Display your recent tippers with a scrolling ticker.” The following setup paths use the current Streamlabs name, Tip Ticker. Interface labels and dashboard layouts can change, so if your screen differs, look for the widget’s settings in your Streamlabs account.

Add the Tip Ticker in Streamlabs Desktop
- Open Streamlabs Desktop and find the Sources panel.
- Select +, choose Tip Ticker from the available widgets, name the source, and select Add Source.
- Review the ticker in the preview and adjust its settings. Streamlabs also allows these settings to be edited from its dashboard.
- Close the settings to save, then resize and position the source on the canvas. Check the preview to confirm the ticker is legible and placed where you want it.
Add the Tip Ticker to OBS or another broadcasting app
- Open Tip Ticker settings in the Streamlabs dashboard and copy the widget URL shown there.
- In OBS Studio, add a Browser Source. In another broadcasting app, use its equivalent browser-based source.
- Paste the widget URL into the source settings, then set the source width and height.
- Resize and position the source on your scene canvas. Check it in the preview before streaming.
- To change ticker content or styling later, return to the Streamlabs dashboard. Adjust source dimensions and placement in your broadcasting app as needed.
Treat the widget URL as private account-linked configuration: use it as the source address, but do not display it on stream or share it publicly.

Customize the ticker for your scene
Streamlabs’ setup guidance lists these controls for the Tip Ticker:

- Message format: Use
{name}for the tipper’s name and{amount}for the tip amount. - Number of tips: Choose the maximum number shown at once; the configured value must be greater than zero.
- Scrolling: Turn scrolling on or off and set its speed from 1, the slowest, through 10, the fastest.
- Typography and color: Choose the font, font size, font weight, general text color, name color and amount color.
- Advanced styling: Use optional custom HTML/CSS if you want to customize the widget beyond its standard controls.
- Themes: Apply a prebuilt widget theme as another styling option.
Make the ticker readable
- Allow enough width for a long name and tip amount so the text has room to display.
- Choose a font size that remains readable at your stream’s output resolution.
- Check the ticker’s contrast against the actual scene and overlay behind it.
- Review the result in your own stream preview; the ticker’s appearance can depend on your layout and styling.
Understand how widget themes work
Streamlabs describes themes as profiles for alert and widget settings. A theme’s widget URL can be used as a Browser Source even when that theme is not active. To use the theme as a Streamlabs Desktop source or with the Streamlabs for OBS Plugin, the theme must be active.
Fix common setup problems
- The ticker is missing in Streamlabs Desktop: Check that you added Tip Ticker from the Sources panel, then confirm the source is visible and positioned within the canvas.
- The browser source is blank or not showing the expected widget: Recheck that you copied the Tip Ticker URL from its Streamlabs dashboard settings and pasted it into the Browser Source address field.
- The ticker is cut off or too small: Adjust the Browser Source width and height in your broadcasting app, then resize and reposition it on the canvas.
- The message is hard to read: Review the font, size, weight, text colors and contrast against your scene; widen the ticker if longer names or amounts do not fit comfortably.
- Dashboard changes do not match the scene: For OBS and similar browser-source setups, edit ticker content and styling in the Streamlabs dashboard, while source dimensions and placement remain settings in the broadcasting app.
